My coil meters at 1.9ohms on my provari, but I'm only at 3.6v right now, I didn't want to go too high and burn it up right out of the gate. So for easy figuring, lets say its 2ohms, so it should be(for me anyways) at 4.4v to get ~9.5-9.7 watts, which is where I like this juice. I will slowly work the voltage up to 4.2 or so and see how it goes.

It should be better than the flavor you were getting from the HH and taste like pure clean juice untill it's time to clean/dryburn or replace the coil.

I would be very impressed if the flavor is better than the HH, that thing was the effin ...., luckily I have one on the way that should arrive by wednesday or so, and I also have a custom 510 long barrel cobalt blue 2ohm HH.357 order in. I should have that in a week or two. I hope that the HH.357 logo is on the blue barrel, and I hope the color is as good as it looks in the pic on the site.:w00t:

What does that mean, 8/7 wrap? I've seen like 4/3 wrap, I don't understand. I mean, obviously its how many coils or wraps, but please explain if you can.

The more wraps you use (the more wire used) the higher the resistance/ohms will be. You want about 3 ohms for a VV device to get the most out of it.

Oh, ok yeah I figured something like that, cuz if you start on one side and end on the other, one half will have and extra. My phoenix is starting to perform pretty well, but I'm still ...... about my HH, and will be anxiously waiting til one of them comes in. I would like to get some SS mesh and try that, but not sure what type. I heard 400 for PG, 275 for VG, so I guess 325 would be good for PG/VG mix.

I made my first coils last night using 32 Gauge Kanthal. My first one was 0.8 ohm. So I kept trying. The second, third, and fourth were all 1.4-1.5 ohm. I guess I'm back to low voltage vaping again until I perfect making these. Decided the last one was the best (1.5 ohm). I'll just practice more.

32ga Kanthal requires like 8 wraps to make what I consider a usable coil(~2.5ohms). I have since switched to using 33ga or 34ga Kanthal.

Yea, I tried to take a pic of mine but I can't find my bros digital camera and I couldn't get a good shot with my crappy phone cam.
I'm wondering if I am worrying too much about having no extra wire between the post and the start of the coil. Also, the one I'm using now does work- its 2ohms, vapor is good but I get like no flavor. I'm not sure if that is just how its going to be with silica wick, or if I have something wrong.

I'm still waiting to see some of Optimo's 'inventions' in a video. Sounds pretty radical.

I'm curious about your wick setup too. Did you fray the wick at the ends and extend them into the juice trough? Fill up the trough?. I find it kind of hard to imagine that you're having such a hard time after seeing the wick that came with mine out of the box, and that thing is working well. Really short wick ends.

I dunno, man, you may have the coils too loose? Seriously, I'm going to have to get out my 'helping hands' rig with the magnifying glass to do mine. The ol' eyes aren't so good anymore.

I took a 2.25" piece of wick and folded it in half. Wrapped coil around wick along with a paperclip to have something stiff to help wrap it. After wrapping 6 wraps, I installed it diagonally, with each end of coil going into posts in opposite directions, with as little bare wire as possible. I put the loop end of the wick into the well, on other side there is two ends. I put one end in the well and the other end goes up into the cap. Its a 2ohm coil, I got it up to 4v on the provari. It is working pretty good now, I've filled the well 3 times in the past hour or so. I'm just not getting much flavor. I have been playing with loosening and tightening the cap to get more/less air, and am in the process of finding that sweet spot. I wonder if I'm just spoiled by my newly dead HH.357, that it had such good flavor, or if my coil needs to break in a little, or if that is just the best flavor I'm going to get from the silica wick. I'd like to try some SS mesh, I've read that 325 mesh would probably work/wick the best, anyone know a good place to get some? Actually also need some kanthal and wick, I've burned through just about all it came with as well as the extra 6 inches I think that I bought with the phoenix.

can someone please post a pic of your good working coil? I have made 8 now, and I can't get one to perform well. I am very good with building things and working with my hands and such, so I'm so frustrated that I can't make a descent coil.

Maybe watching Scott may help if you havent seen this video.. I'm getting mine probably tommorow guys, wish me luck.
