+1 on the Illumn source for batteries
Very nice! I love it when gear has a history, I have an old iPV2S that is very dear to me.
A few thing about the mod...
TC doesn't work on it, and probably never will. Be very careful trying it out as the Captain will fire full power if something is off with the TC setup, like cold resistance or wire TCR. Also pay attention to the battery polarity and don't rely on the reverse polarity protection circuit to work.
There is new firmware for it 1.6 on iJoy's site. If yours boots up with a V1.XX use the 1.6, if it boots up with an A1.XX use the A1.6. Both versions are included in the firmware file, you need the updater as well.
iJoy pulled another one of their typical slimy moves and changed the 20700's they sell to a 4 leg version which have very poor performance. If you are looking for a spare set of 20700's, Illumn has the KeepPower 20700's that are exactly the same as the proper 5 leg iJoy 20700's.
Other than that enjoy the Captain!![]()
It's all good then.Thank you, my Brother. I remembered some of your comments on el Capitan. Honestly, I don't fiddle a lot with TC - I have SS with which to wind coils, but most of my TC is with stock Ni200 coils, and those are few and far between. I have so many other mods which are TC-worthy - this one is just PRETTY. And I like Pretty things
I'm very fastidious when I install batteries. Hopefully I won't pull a pinhead maneuver and put them in incorrectly. Firmware shows 1.5, and I have started looking at the deets on how to upgrade. With as many 18650 pairs as I have, I'll be a bit before I need to grab backup 20700s.
Fun thing about this excursion was that SO saw some of the wood mods that were on display. She's wondering if she couldn't make "holders" or even enclosures - I've not truly "Modded" before, but there's no reason I couldn't start.......
It's all good then.
I really envy people that can work in wood, I don't have the patience. A good friend in Montreal built a ship model that he spent almost a year on, in his apartment and without a workshop. Way too many minute details for me, I'd have it beat to death with a hammer before I was even halfway complete.

So far so good. I'm a lazy builder so a regulated dual battery squonk mod was what I needed. As for any issues: None so far and I hope it stays like that; however, I have noticed droplets of liquid pooling around the top plate of the mod. Opened it up and found no leaks but a build up of condensation around the 510 and the metal bracket/plate it's attached it to.Nice!
Yay or Nay on the Drone?
