'As needed' isn't much help I guess, but in time you will know when based on what your usage is. When the contacts get a build up of carbon you'll notice the difference. I use cloth medical tape strips folded over on themselves sticky side to sticky side with a drop of DeoxIT D100L to clean all the contacts. The tape is textured to help scrub it off. Then I apply DeoxIT Gold G100L to help protect all of them. IOW I also clean the battery positive contact and the negative contact (hot spring) with a dab of Gold on them to finish. You can use the same treatment on your battery terminals as well to clean/protect them and to improve conductivity. I also clean the inside of the Reo by just brushing out any dust/dirt/etc that may have collected in it. Slotted metal Reo's and the regular Reos with slotted doors are more likely to need that more often than those with solid doors. I do not get liquid leaks inside of any of my Reos, but it you do clean it up instead of waiting until you do a full pit stop on it (fresh liquid is much easier to clean up than old that has become a sticky mess). I disagree with Robert on the need to wash Reo's under running water or with soapy water. If you keep them reasonably clean a pit stop only takes two of three minutes and you will never need to wash them.
Here is a Robert O'Neil video about Rep P67 maintenance. He uses alcohol to clean contacts instead of the D100L I use (just personal choice). It also goes into some of the beyond normal basic pit stop maintenance on how to disassemble to replace/align parts and reassemble.
There are a lot of other tricks to use on Reo's, and many updates and up grades for them as well... but far to many of them to list. Search the Reo archives on ECF to see if they may still have those threads that are full of use full information.

Couldn't you simply use a bit of dielectric grease on the contact points and negate all this maintenance?

Dielectiric grease was discussed back in the Reo haydays and rejected by most Reo users. It's primary use is as a silicone based insulator that does not conduct electricity. Closest thing to it that I and many other Reo folks use on the Reos is TFE Paste to seal the feed tube threads when reinstalling it after having taken it apart for contact replacement/other maintenance to guarantee that it will be leak free.
I have no knowledge at all of Stabilant 22 and don't remember it ever being discussed back in the day. So I wouldn't be able to comment on it's use on Reo contacts without researching it. Since I don't try to fix what is not broke and am way more than satisfied with the DeoxIT products that I have used for many years on all my mods, atty's, batteries, I'll leave that research to you.
A little over a week ago I showed you a pic of Holly, all sanded down and waiting for finish. Here she is now, the finish mostly cured. A lesson in chemical reactions between dyes, wood, and finishing oil. You never know exactly what the final result will be until the oil has hardened enough to turn color. Holly started a bright red, which started fading as the dye dried. The color sprang back to life when I applied the oil. But it kept getting oranger until it finally ended up this "butternut" color.
Standing inside is a nice rig I'm enjoying. Joyetech ProCore SE on an Able, running with a LiFePO4 battery.

Using a stainless Steel Entheon clone for fantastic flavor. Now I actually have a black Entheon as well which pairs up beautifully with this mod but it needed rewicking and I was being as lazy as lazy gets lol!!
I bought a lifetime supply of brush applicator bottles of G100L and D100L years ago when AFAIK it was not offered in as many different ways as it is now days. I can't see the spray types as being a cost effective choice when in Reos you are dealing with small contacts in a very small area. A lot of the excess DeoxIT would go to waste. So I still use the brush applicator bottles way that has always worked just fine for my uses. I don't need anything else other than just one of my premade cloth tape strips to quickly clean both Reo contacts and the batteries contacts. I use D100L on a strip first to clean, then use the G100L brush with a small amount on it to protect and increase conductivity on all contacts. Back when some folks chose to use the smaller quantity squeeze tubes instead because of their lower cost.

Jeremy has sent an email to advise that Ohio has introduced a bill to ban the sale of vaping products. As fast as that ball is rolling all over the US now days he is not sure how much longer he will be able to sell the RxW. I personally have a huge supply, but if anyone here wants to get it while you still can now is probably the time.

Well that’s bs. Did you contact their customer service? Sounds like a it was a tester mod.
