The D.E. Java cigar and coffee both taste very good fresh (only a day steeping). The coffee extract is the best coffee vape I've tasted, mixed with a little EM it tastes exactly like a black cup of joe from the beans I used and even has a little of the dry tobacco-like vape.

The coffe is going to be a great mixer to add some depth to tobaccos.

Did you vape the coffee extract straight or diluted into nic base?

The coffee extract is mixed at ~15% and 1% EM.

Awesome. Thanks.

Another question: Do you notice any degradation in flavor with the coffee extract? It may just be in my head, but I imagine a coffee extract should be vaped ASAP, like a cup of coffee should be drunk right away. Does it go stale like a cup of coffee will?

That's a good question, I thought about the same thing. I just vaped the couple/few day old sample I made and it still tastes good, none of the sour stall coffee taste. I smelled the extract too and it smells like fresh beans. The glycerin may act as an anti-oxidant or preservative (I don't know for sure) but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on that.

Actually, coffee, chocolate & tobacco flavors get BETTER over time. If you vape them too early , they will taste pretty flat. It takes time for the flavors to work their way into the carriers (VG/PG) before they really start to mature and start tasting right. The shelf-life of most juices is generally a lot longer than most people think - and it's actually the nicotine that degrades, not the flavors (and nic is usually good for a minimum of a year, even unrefrigerated).

Good to hear. Thanks.

Can you tell me how you made the extract of coffee? Methodology, carrier, grounds/bean, heat or cold etc.. Coffee is my all time favorite thing in the world, strong black and hot. I'm very interested after my first cigar extraction which was very successful from a La Primadora Dominican and adds an awesome flavor to my crude DIY juice.
If I could have a dark, dry coffee to add it would be fantastic.

You could extract it the same way you did your cigar. I extracted dark roast coffee grinds in PG the same way I extract tobaccos. Warm it up in a microwave for a few seconds until it's the temp of a hot cup of coffee a couple times a day for ~3 days then filter it.

I need to find a decent cigar connection. As much as I like how amazing a pure Cuban cigar leaf comes out, it's sort of mild on it's own. It still rocks with a pomegranate fusion, but still...

Who's got a good reasonable source for single cigars?

My go-to for cigars has been Famous Smoke - you can buy singles and 5-packs of some premium stoggies fairly reasonably. They definitely are a deal compared to my local tobaccanist.

They have a sister site Cigar Auctioneer that has a great alert system built-in. You build up a watch list from their previous auctions, they tell you when it'll next come up, and then email you when it goes live.

I've bid-sniped some great deals on boxes of cigars, but my overall experience is that unless you get really lucky, you'll be paying close to what they retail it for at Famous Smoke.

'course, no havanas there. that's why you get to be really friendly with the guy behind the counter at your local B&M.

Looks great :) Now just to decide a brand complimentary to my sacred Cuban seed Havanas. So many choices not so much of where to start

Famous also has daily deals, many with free shipping.
Cigar Monster MEGA Mashup!

Ahh, looks fun!

Nice price for Kuba-kuba's especially with free shipping. I extract the Deluxe Kuba's, very tasty.

Thanks you guys! I might just send some of this amazing stuff I made to ya! :D Get some input about it's flavor see if y'all like it as much as I do!

would be an honor - i've been steeping some arturo fuente hemmingway (dominican filler, cameroon wrap) for a little over a week now. was worried at first as the initial steep just stank something awful. a few days later, it mellowed out. color has stabilized to a light gold, so i may just press/filter it soon.

would love to have comparison extracts. maybe we should start a exchange chain, just send 10ml or so to the next guy and keep it rolling ;)

Awesome idea :) I have been thinking about the same. The quantities of tobacco leaf yield such a huge potential amount of juice, it just makes sense. Especially if your vape activity is primarilly online. So I will brew some more concentrate then juice with that. I will post back or PM when it's ready :).

My steeping times are 24 hrs or less with my "redneck ultrasonic steeping device"

Which is an old attic fan mounted in a a square wood casing. I jam a smaller box in between the fan and the wood. The thing vibrates like a jack hammer and after several hours I get the equivalent of a loooooong steep. Even the color indicates a proper steep. These weather temperatures also help it along.

The taste, well.. It's like:

Lol, that's a bit like my redneck powder drop fix for my Dillon 650; old computer fan, cut the vanes to be off balance and it ensured every drop was within 0.5 grain of the last

These 1.2 micron filters were delivered yesterday http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008EKXPLO/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm gonna filter some of my NETs further with these this weekend to make the NETs more coil freindly, paper coffee filters only filter to 10-20 microns and I've researched that coffee/tea dust can be as small as 4-5 microns, I couldn't find any info on the particle size in tobacco extracts.

Ok, so first off. This is an awesome thread. I may have to try the DIY juices. Don't have a nic base yet but do have some VG to play with, plus it's cheap to get the flavoring idea before I waste nic juice. I'm going to try the backwood cigars you can get at the gas station. Their great little cheap cigars wrapped in the leafs, poorly imo but they taste really good. It would be nice to find a good tobacco base and then play with other flavor additives. Can't wait to try this. Thanks guys

curious how the filter worked out? my 10-day steep from a AF Hemingway turned a pretty serious dark brown (compared to the golden brown from my first batch, 10s microwave, press and bottle). i can see particles floating in it after a squeeze with cheese cloth. I'll be putting it through a fat-gauge syringe with boiled cotton in the bottom later.

the cotton trick is good for getting the chunks out, but i can tell by viewing the extract in bright light that there are lots of suspended particles in there anyways. would be nice to know if 1.2 microns is small enough to get it all out.

thanks,
chris

They work very well. Two passes through coffee filters then through the 1.0 micron filter results in a crystal clear extract, clearer than the coffee filters alone. I've read that coffee filters only filter down to 10-20 microns which is the reason I got the 1.0 micron filters.

I have some extra filters if you or anyone else wants to try some, I got 10 and probably don't need that many. They last a while before getting clogged if you pre-filter the extract with a coffee filter. I've only used 1 so far and filtered ~120ml of extracts with no noticeable clogging or increase in back pressure, the syringe filter is a little tan in color now but still going strong. I also soak and flush the filters with alcohol (Bacardi 151) between uses.
