I've been vaping Kuba-Kuba extract today. Unbelievable how it taste exactly like the cigar. Better than QncKuba-Kuba. :D

Yeah, Kuba Kuba extract is very good. I think it has a truer, better taste than the cigar, there's no smoke to get in the way of some of the subtle herb and spice flavors.

I prefer deeper flavors, I like the Drew Estate Java cigar extract better. It has a deeper tobacco flavor with just enough coffee/cocoa flavor to compliment the tobacco.

I don't extract the sweetened tips, I add EM or sweetener if needed to the final juice. The Kuba needed a little to balance out some of the herbal bitterness that I tasted. The DE Java is good with or without it.

A nice addition to tobacco extracts is a few drops of PA "Smooth" flavor...it takes the bitterness and "raw edge" out of most of my extractions if needed. Just a drop or two per 10 ml of juice makes a big difference, and doesn't effect the base flavor at all.

Perfumers Apprentice - Smooth Flavor

BTW...I have an Opus X extraction that's been steeping now for about three weeks & it's knocking my socks off. Just gets better as it steeps...surprisingly, its getting sweeter as it steeps. It's a pure extract (nothing else has been added except for a few drops of Smooth), but tastes like I added EM to it.

I still have the rest of the cigar sitting in my humidor (I only used about 1/4 of it) - time to whip up another batch....this one is Epic :)

I'll have to try some of the Smooth. I forgot that I had some, it kinda got lost in the box of little bottles of flavors, lol. I also found some TA blend 10%. I've been using EM at 1-2% to cut the "raw edge" harshness of some tobaccos but find that it mutes the flavor a little.

I noticed that too, that the natural sweetness of some tobaccos come out with steeping that's why I use EM sparingly. The Opus X sounds good, maybe CI will have a sale on them in the near future.

There are two brands of "Smooth " concentrates. The TFA brand is grouped with the tobacco's and is described as such. The Ecx SS brands describes it as an additive for smoothing out and mellowing mixes. It has been said by many here on the Forum that Ecx SS brand concentrates are re-labeled TFA concentrates. So who knows what we're buying?

Thanks for making that clear!

These 1.2 micron filters were delivered yesterday Syringe Filters Glass Fiber 25mm 1.2um 10pack: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific I'm gonna filter some of my NETs further with these this weekend to make the NETs more coil freindly, paper coffee filters only filter to 10-20 microns and I've researched that coffee/tea dust can be as small as 4-5 microns, I couldn't find any info on the particle size in tobacco extracts.

i'd like to take you up on that, but i don't have a 25mm syringe handy. that's like a turkey baster gauge!

Hey! Just wanted to let you guys know that I just did my first NET (first 2 actually)

Using this thread as a guide, I trimmed approx 3/4" off the end of a Brickhouse and a Brickhouse Maduro (both 90+ sticks and ~$5 each)
Copped that up with the ubiquitous SlapChop :D
put in shot glasses and covered with PG (approx 15ml)
nuked in microwave for 5 sec, stir, 5 sec, stir, 5 sec, stir (kept that up till it was just under boiling. Maybe 5-6 times)
stirred until cool
put 2 cotton balls into a turkey baster then filled the baster with vodka (some cheap stuff I bought for cleaning) then squeezed that out through the cotton balls (to remove any bad stuff, maybe)
filtered my extracts 3 times each using the same cotton balls
I ended up with ~10ml of extract from each cigar

couldn't wait so I mixed up a 50/50 PG/VG (no nic) so I could try the flavor. It tastes WAAAAY better than I expected. Very clean and true to this particular cigar. Now, the flavor is not very strong but it is there. I will let the extract INFUSE for a few days then give it another try but I am excited with the initial result.

Going to try tea and coffee next!

ecigx signature and TFA - I have a bottle each of graham cracker. the ecx is very light in colour while the TFA I got from RTS is very very dark. I thought they were suppose to be the same too. that probably sounds random but read a comment a page back in this thread regarding that.

I want to try a cigar extraction using your microwave method and have a couple questions or thoughts. When I make a cup of tea with a teabag I let it steep a few minutes then place the teabag on a spoon and squeeze it with the string tag. I have heard the brits do not do that because it will add a bitterness to the tea. Do you think the same thing would apply to a tobacco extraction i.e. do not press the leafs during any step of the process? Another question I have is regarding a coffee extraction. I course grind my coffee beans and cook them in a coffee press. I have been told that the coffee flavor is best when it cooks for 3 or 4 minutes at 204 degrees. any longer or hotter will start breaking down the oils in the beans causing it to become bitter. is that avoidable in a coffee extraction. like I said I am new to this and just asking questions. all help is appreciated.

Hi everyone .I am curious about using alcohol in the extraction process.I have made one NET using alcohol and PG and was wondering how it compares to not using any just PG/VG like in this thread.Does anyone know if using the alcohol makes it more concentrated ?

Also about how much tobacco to PG would I need to make 10-15 mls worth of extract ? The process I tried before mad much larger quantities and I would like to just make about 10mls of each tobacco I plan on trying. Thanks in advance :)

I'm a total noob to NET and just did my first, but happened to come out with 17ml of extraction. I just followed the directions in post one, but instead of a shot glass, I snipped up Captain Black pipe tobacco into the bottom of a regular size coffee mug. Just put enough in there to cover the bottom fully (maybe 1/2 in deep) then barely covered that with PG, and when I strained it after cooking, got 17mls. If that gives you any idea. :)

A big thanks to xMackx for those directions! I love the NET I made!! :D

My concern is that using alcohol could break down some of the cellulose in the tobacco leaves and leave you with a musty, vegetal extract. PG works well enough that I don't bother trying other methods.

i use coffee filter to filter the tobacco extraction. do i need to use other filter?

That's up to you. The more particulate matter you remove, the longer your coils will last. I used to just filter through a cotton ball at the end of a syringe, and everything was fine, except I had to dry-burn my coils after each tankful (sometimes before the tank was even empty) because they were gunked up.

I now do an additional filtration through a .2 or .4 Micron Syringe filter (available on Amazon) and my coils don't get crudded up much at all. I can usually go through two/three tank-fulls of the same extract before I even have to think of dry-burnig (depending on what other flavorings I add of course).

Your choice .....either way works.
