It appears that SmokTek has pre-dated their recall.

In other words, they're claiming on their website that this recall was announced before this incident, even though it's clear that they posted it
after the incident and signed it with a date from
before.
Been thinking about this also, I would tend to agree it was purposely predated. The email to their resellers about the recall was dated 4 days later, hit their inboxes Sunday morning I believe, catching the entire channel & user community by surprise.
Smoktek is doing the right thing with this recall, and losing tons of revenue in the process. I don't think anything like this has happened before, the usual method is a fix in 'version 2'....how often have we seen this with hot springs for instance. I highly doubt the predating, if indeed happened, occurred because of this burning incident in this post. Damages to the carpet could have easily been taken care of by Smok, and is a drop in the proverbial bucket compared to costs of the recall.
Id like to give Smok the benefit of the doubt, it could be just an honest delay in both communication to their channel, and updating their website. Or it could be due to another incident we have no knowledge of.
