Anyone having issues with the recall? I threw mine away after mine caught on fire, but my vender is saying I need to send it in to them (which I cant because i threw it away) for them to reimburse me...That doesnt seem fair to me. People with good grooves get their money back, but if yours had the problem that they are being recalled for, you are out of luck? Why would I keep a charred device? What gives?

The vendor I got mine through said he's checking with Smoktech - he thinks they don't need to be mailed back. I advised him if Smoktech say they want it mailed back to let them know they are asking for a potentially explosive device to be sent through the mail.
Waiting to hear what the process is.

Just an update - my vendor advised I don't have to return it, he will refund based on my order record. I'll take the a groove to a battery recycling/disposal centre near me.
BTW - saw some-one telling people to just remove the battery - not good advice. Just trring to get at it and get it out can cause a puncture and a safety issue:

My vendor is in Australia and has refunded the money to me today. I haven't named the vendor because I don't see a need to.
I bought mine from madvapes. They want me to mail back my device in order to "try to accommodate refunds or store credits as best we can to your satisfaction." I asked who's your vendor because I'd like to do business with them on account of them doing the right thing concerning this safety recall.

My vendor is in Australia so probably not so handy for you. Yeah - I heard Mad Vapes are taking that stance. This might interest you:

im so sick of smoktech its not even funny. when are they going to stop putting out products that ARENT READY??? R U LISTENING TO US? WE DONT WANT your products in the US if your going to continue putting out products with PROBLEMS!!

The smoktech telescope- 1. No ventilation what-so-ever. Every reviewer was seriously ...... at you for putting that out on the market. 2. Then they started coming out with shoddy drilled holes that had sharp barbs of metal, which pricked fingers and sheared the shrink wrap off of batteries. 3. Had problems with wobbling. The threading was too thin and the device wobbled in use. 4. The button's design was an inherent drop vulnerability, but you managed to make it a complete flaw by again using sub-par threading, which caused the locking ring to strip out and become useless and dangerous for pocket use. 5. Then of course you put out a 3rd and "final" model... 1 month before putting out a "Rebuildable Smoktech Telescope" which allowed users to replace the 510 connection and the button. Really nice business plan Smoktech.

The Natural? Are you kidding me? You literally thought it'd be cool to put out a device that wont even screw all the way down without flat top IMR batteries? Does that make any sense? You thought people would be cool with not being able to use their kicks with an 18500 battery in 18650 mode? You thought it'd be a good idea to plate the contact pins when they were made from a good conductor metal in the 1st place? You thought it'd be good to put out a mechanical device that has a .3 to .6 voltage drop? You thought we'd all want a raised 510 connection that creates a gap even if you can manage to grind down the center pin? & the dimples were a fantastic design implimentation as well guys.

How many Smoktech Zmax's circuit boards need to fall out before you realized you made a mistake? How many Smoktech eGo buttons were pushed right into the body of the eGo before you realized you had to make a change? & are you just going to continue blatantly copying genesis tanks right down to the looks? You thought it was a cool idea to make the smoktech SRT with no hole for a vertical wick, and wires under the atomizer base freely exposed to the juice in our tanks??? What is going on over there in your heads? Seriously?

Anyways - back on topic for anyone else - I got a refund as I think I mentioned, and will safely dispose of the Groove. I have a battery disposal place not far from me. For me that seems the easiest option to deal with it. I did think about the saltwater soak but its quicker for me to take it to a disposal place.

Somewhere
The metal Groove has an battery built in - its not a replaceable battery. From what the OP has said there is a design flaw too. This doesn't mean every APV made in China is bad. There are some good ones - and they need to be used with good batteries.
There have been reports of battery meltdowns in pvs made in the USA exploding too btw - doesn't mean every mod made in the USA is bad either.
See here:

Exactly! 99% of us are happily vaping mods from China.

Anyway, glad to see the thread back on track :p.
