But they can't release any new products without jumping through the PMTA hoop. I don't see PMTA aproval as a slam dunk even for any of these devices, sealed or not.
The pod mods may have a slight advantage for PTMA but who knows if anything but a disposable has a chance at this point.

Unflavored nicotine base has, without question, the easiest route through the PMTA process.
And even that will have one heck of a time getting through.

Nothing else can possibly get through if unflavored nicotine base can not make it.
This whole this is fascinating, but also monstrously horrible.

I Understand the Juul pods can be refilled, anybody try refilling any of the other systems?

I was supposed to be receiving a Cync today but it did not show up. I am really excited about having that kind of back up with those kind of flavors (hopefully it arrives this weekend!).

Based on price and availability, I'm looking at the myjet or von erl. The Myjet starter kit includes "1.2ml refillable pods". Anecdotal opinions are that the draw is really tight. Hmm, definitely 12 or 18mg liquid would be necessary.

I've been mostly MTLin' it these days, so tight is good.

There you go, thinking logically again. The FDA, in it's illogical way may be more inclined to pass a disposable, where every aspect of the device and liquid is controlled, than liquid that could be used in any old device, at any wattage.

Yeah, as the regulations are currently written, you are probably right.
I apologize for my momentary lapse.

As I understand it if you file a PMTA for a product and it's not approved that product has to be immediately removed from shelves. So I'm guessing moving forward people will only submit PMTA's on products they haven't put to market yet.

Unless that's not allowed, can't remember. Pretty sure it is though, so it would probably be the next, more closed system that submits for PMTA.

    Is that accurate?

Maybe I'm not understanding it, but I thought they could only apply for PMTAs for products already on the market by 8/8/16, not after that.

Thing about these new systems, since they are closed and non-rebuildable, they might be considered "substantially equivalent" to the cig-a-likes on the market in 2007, even though they don't look like them. Sure looks like the battery life and price are pretty much equivalent. :sneaky:

Actually, eventually ALL things will need a PMTA.

As of now, things that were on the market pre 8-8-16 are allowed to stay on the market while filing for the PMTA.

Things that want to be released after 8-8-16 need to file a PMTA and be approved before selling to the general public.

That's why the rush was on to get new product on the market before 8-8-16.

Folks are going to figure out ways to hack and re-fill some of these.

Sort of reminds me of back in 2011-2012 where we had to "modify" and take things apart just to vape.

Most of this stuff is really just a Blu, but improved and on steroids like Xolo with aspire coils and longer-life panasonic battery. (I read the topic on the specs over on reddit a year ago when he was designing it and talking about it over there.)

Substantial Equivalency, to the FDA, doesn't mean "sorta like" something.
It means pretty much EXACTLY like something...
    Sustantial Equivalence determinations

Anyone get their Pod Mod lately and try it? Calling @bnrkwest

My Juul should arrive today. Hopefully can pick it up around 10 am. I choose it because it looks like you can both refill it and mod it to increase air flow. I plan to try both. I wanted to get one before they are forced to use stronger glue. :)

It certainly wont be my easy chair vape but I'm always looking for something to use running around. Something comfortable for the shirt pocket. If the little Njoys were affordable they would easily be my running around vape.

    Will post my experience.

Well the Mistic has piqued my interest - when I went to the website & googled for info on the nic content and options for levels there were none, does anyone know....

    NVM - just found this on a review;
Offered in 10 mL child-resistant, tamper-proof pre-filled pods, Mistic 2.0 high-end e-liquids (80 VG/20 PG ratio) are made in the USA and available in 4 mg nicotine strengths (4 percent by volume) and 10 flavors: cherry, coconut cream, creamy cantaloupe, fruit mix, java, mango, menthol, strawberry, tobacco and watermelon.

My first impressions of the Juul. I unpacked and put it together before leaving the Post office. After all I got it to use while out and about. :)

The first puff was very strong. Made me cough and a little dizzy actually. But the airflow was really lacking in my opinion. I was satisfied overall.

Upon arriving home and modifying the airflow (thanks Mr Man) it was much improved.

Will finish vaping this cartridge before filling with my own juice. Looking forward to that. I think it will work just fine for an on-the-go vape.
