Got an interesting text from neighbor who works part-time at a local vape shop. In it were these tidbits from a meeting the owner had yesterday AM for all of his shops' employees:

No more custom juice in a variety of ratios, to cut down on # of different products they make. Will only be making 20PG/80VG, unless someone asks for the "COPD blend" (which is 50/50).

As of 1-1-2017 the FDA will give a reward of $10,000 to anyone who turns in someone who is making juice not in an approved facility. (I asked about home juice makers, and he said the owner said beware if you make and sell any of it to others...even friends).

Said a local "bathtub juice maker" has been fined heavily by the FDA for having non-child-resistant caps on bottles of his juice sold at a shop out of state.

Owner also said the FDA is trying to get a system worked out to hire a large number of people who either are underage, or "look to be underage"...to go into vape shops on a "sting" mission, to see if they all get carded before being able to buy anything, and denied if they are indeed underage! Said they wanted to somehow get local Health Depts. involved in it, too.

Their owner "thinks" he has found a way to get around having testers in his shops, by having people become verified "members" of a vaping club in order to use them. Paying their monthly membership dues would entitle them to both sample vape and/or buy things in his shops. If you're not a "member", you can't do either.

He didn't specify anything relating to the owner's website sales.

Just thought I'd pass those things along. Don't know if any other shops are planning similar things, but I guess we'll see as time goes by.

I'm going to order some flavoring tonight just to see if the vendor will supply it to Indiana.

I don't see how they can't supply it to you, unless you order some very specific tobacco flavorings (ie. Ry4 and such). Most flavorings are used in baking, candy-making, all sorts of other things besides vaping!

So ISIS is contained, southern border secured, war on drugs has been won and all the E coli has been removed our food supply, nothing left to secure but nabbing those pesky people trying to heat VG with Strawberry flavoring in it. Go get'em FDA, save us.

I'm a proponant of stocking up and have a shopping list I intended to complete before 8-8 but didn't. I still have to order 6 mods, 2 rda's, and and one more bottle of nic to complete the list. That will happen in the next couple weeks. I'm confident the stash will keep me vaping for 10 years and if things hold up better than planned, and I can reduce daily nic, it might be 15 or 20. If nic is still available in 2 years I'll get another bottle just for the sake of being 2 years fresher. This is a bit like a Mars rover, designed to last a certain amount of time, but if thiings work perfectly may be longer. My stash is adequate but not a budget buster so if I see something I like in the next two years I have the money to buy it.

If the axe doesen't fall the nic will get used and that's nearly half the cost of the stash.

Fox news a story on fda and vaping

I retire from even watching weather from FOX News. They're the ones that kept broadcasting (scaring America) that vaping is worse than cigs. Not as bad. Not as addictive. Worse. Wth? That's washing your car when it's raining outside kind of stupid..

[Image removed..... Nope can't show that flippin' bird]

.. lying too. Living in Austin, TX probably the most liberal open minded city in the south (although there may be others as well) I thought I was a Democrat but after watching this..

.. I don't know what I am anymore. Not Republican. Or Democrat if they all think like that senator announcing to the public ignorant hypothetical bs statements like that. I hope the next president will fight for our vaping rights, that's all I want.

.l. politics.

I have a good amount of stuff but not enough duplicates on mods. I narrowed my tanks down to subtanks/top tanks and Griffin 25 RTA's but my mods are all over. (1) Encom Voidray (1) Vaporesso Tarot 200w (1) RX200 (1) NEbox and (2) Kboxes from Toptank kits.

I actually like both my Voidray and my Tarot but they're not very popular and not much is known about them. Not sure o want to duplicate these, may anyways. Especially the Voidray thing is a tank.

Luckily I think I glitched through MFS age verification. I have three different addresses and it worked. Might be the only place I can order from until I get a new DL/CC and even then I'm not sure I'll be ok.

Not being able to get mail at my house and knowing age verification was coming up was a big part of the reason I stocked.

I just bolded that portion of your post. I do believe everything in there from your neighbor reports about looking out for underage sales, and fining mixers for not using child proof caps. Truthfully, after all the fuss the last months, if a B&M shop doesn't check a customer's age, I'm not going to feel all that bad about them being fined. But a $10,000 reward for turning in someone mixing juice in an "unapproved facility"?

They don't give $10,000 rewards for bank robbers or serial killers these days. Besides, when will there even BE FDA approved facilities? And what constitutes an approved facility? Is merely registering with them sufficient, or do you need an actual PMTA approval? This is how ambiguous regulations trigger all sorts of speculation.

Makes sense to me. But several vendors won't sell anything to Indiana now, including hardware, which isn't banned under the Indiana law.

I'm assuming I can get flavoring from a straight flavoring vendor, but I like to use a vaping vendor because they have all the brands under one roof. I want to see if that works.

I would like to see if nic is cut out by the Indiana law, but I don't need any of that so I'll leave it to someone else to figure out.

Not a fan of FN. But to be fair I've seen quite a few pro-vaping segments on FN, and none at all on CNN or MSNBC. I don't recall seeing vaping-is-worse segments on any of them. I may be wrong though, don't watch them much.

The emergence of ecigs was a scattered ground up movement, while those threatened by ecigs focused their attack with contrived studies and press releases, defining this wonderful solution as a problem. How we vapers are perceived is the biggest barrier to successfully getting it back on track. As long as a majority of people think of vaping in a negative way, regulation and taxation will be hard to undo, let alone slow down.

This is a major reason I am stocked up. It could take a long time to sway public opinion back in our favor.

Well, the neighbor told me last week, that as just part of the owner's shops being approved...the owner had to send 150 bottles of eliquid made in his shops to the FDA. Had to send a large representative variety of them: some from all the nic levels he produces, some of all the different bottle sizes & types with the proper caps, representative examples of the various PG/VG ratios, representative samples of the flavors he makes, etc.

I don't know what other things, steps, paperwork, etc. he's already done and has yet to do though.

I'm assuming I can get flavoring from a straight flavoring vendor, but I like to use a vaping vendor because they have all the brands under one roof. I want to see if that works.

How about Wizard Labs? They have numerous brands under their roof, are already an approved facility according to their website, and sell their flavorings to people for all kinds of purposes.

Added this: They also don't have anything to do with vaping in their company name. Heck, the USPS (or whoever) in Indiana...might think it's some kind of lab glassware and chemicals you're getting! Their boxes do have the big label sticker on them saying Please Handle With Care...GLASS...Thank You
