Ive been praticing but still dont feel rite posting. how in the twirl you guys get those aliens to line up? Ive gone through so much wire trying the aliens..
Ok, this is one I learned so far...

If your having trouble with the amount of stretch on the de-cored clapton then try the following ratio 10" of clapton'ed wire stretched to 78.5" will give you 6" of wrapped alien. I tried this way once and it's not bad but i prefer to do it by eye.
And if your having trouble with setting up the main wires then you can do it like the following pic

The only edit I did to that photo (besides the Helicon focus stack) was the crop to size it down.

Great build also Tom, nice colours too! i used 26g for the decored clapton, maybe could have gone a bit heavier cus when i started wrapping the alien it didn't want to sit so i had to stretch it as it wound onto the cores, but it came out okay for a rush job

Effin clean slip, me likey. I attempted an alien first time in my life earlier this week, got this after a bit of practice...

My decal came in

And the goon came in. After spending 10 hours on a hand wrapped coil that ended up snapping 2 outer 44 gauge wires, I was on a hunt with another super coil before I even wick the goony. finally got this close to perfect so my current working coil in my goon is this....

My first RTA build, so I kept it simple for now. Griffin 22mm. 8/9 wraps of 24ga kanthal @ about 0.2 Ω. I wrapped around a 2.9mm screwdriver, and a slightly snug-fitting piece of japanese cotton fits perfectly into the juice flow ports. Heats up in about 1/2 second at 55 watts, cools quickly. 6.5/10 for flavor, 7.5/10 for vapor.

It's sad that one spot turned out badly, it looks like it would have been a gorgeous coil.

Anyone has pics of a parallel vertabraid?...looking for ideas on how dress it up. I want to make it look pretty. It looks plain by itself and i dont want to mess it up. 10" weaved by hand took me a couple hours....

What core did you use for your decored clapton?

I used 24g for the 28/10x .4 core. 26 for 28/8x .4
Edit: however, just finishing the 28/8x .4, I'd recommend using 25g. Maybe it was just the 40g I was using as the wrap but it's a super tight fit and 25g may give some extra leeway & be a little easier.

How about coring it? You could put it in a core between two spirals and hand wrap between the groves. Just a thought
