:D seeping juice isnt good.

------------------------------------------------

A dual staple staggered fused clapton is way to strong in every department, i used 26g n80, 32g n80, 4wraps each on 3/32nd, 0.07 ohms
The single that i made was good but i may use 22 or 24g instead of the 26g to bring the ohms between what the single and dual are giving me.

-------------------------------------------------

What do you mean way too strong in every department? And was that a typo saying 0.07 ohms? Did you mean 0.7? Aren't you going to lower the resistance if use lower gauge wire?

I like a hot vape and can take some serious hit in the throat but with the two coils TH and Flavour was way to much lol and i only use about 5% flav & 5mg nic in my juice, maybe with more air it would be okay but i just dont see the point of vaping something that feels like 8 coils when the one is more than enough, my lemonade juice tasted like lemon meringue.
The 0.07ohms wasnt a typo, im mostly always vaping on a dual parallel mech mod ;)
Yes i will lower the resistance but im also going from the two coils to one :) EDIT: so a single would be 0.14 with the 26g n80, i used 22g and the resistance for the one went to 0.069.

anyways! heres another build....
5x 0.5 ribbon & 8x 32g n80 or four loops

So I was thinking of trying my hand at a staple coil next. Not a staggered, just a staple. But as you know I love dual coils so I was planning on trying a dual staple. Is the throat hit stronger you think than a dual fused clapton? I love the flavor/performance of dual fused claptons at around 0.24 ohms and I'll try staple coils if the flavor is better or vapor is better without sacrificing flavor but not if the throat hit increases.

what do you mean just a staple, stapled helix or stapled tiger or something else??

the stapled helix will give more TH as the slits that the ribbon make arent covered in clapton as some other builds are.

the stapled tiger is a awsome coil, im still using the same dual for about 2months, average TH, good flav & clouds

View attachment 461191 First nice looking duel coil build on Patriot clone with istick 30watt. It's at 0.5ohms. I built one other but it looked terrible. I'm new to dripping and building coils. But I'm proud of this one for only being my second coil build ever.
cant tell from your pic but looks like you have them quite low to the deck, if you raise them high you'll be able to fill the juice well with cotton and still be able to keep a real nice gap between the bottom of the coils and your cotton, you'll have better airflow around the whole of the coils, better flavour and clouds

Cotton is a little thick. Don't want to impede airflow over the coil.

I'm sorry. I watched squidoode's vid on YouTube and I thought it was an actual common named thing. He just stacks like 5 ply ribbon and claptons it and calls it the staple coil.

Basically what I'm asking is: is there another coil that gives better flavor and performance than the fused clapton without increasing throat hit?

I think 28g zipper coils give pretty damn good flavor without the throat hit.

do a stapled tiger coil, heres a vid for you from Ytube, he uses 24g twisted with the stapled wire but you could use 26g or 28g instead although you have to be a little careful with the 28g as it will follow the shape of the stapled wire and gived you a funky squarish, triangle coil >>>

or Braided wire is very good also, you are getting mega wick coverage, you dont have to do vertebraids or braidators, just a simple 3wire weave like how a girl will in her hair & dont tighten the weave down tight orelse you may aswell just twist it together, keep it nice and loose with open wraps also. i've used 3strands of 32g and you can put some seriouse heat through them

So in your opinion, you think this stapled tiger has better flavor than a fused clapton? Without sacrificing performance? I like the dense warm vape that fused claptons provide. That's why I don't want to try braiding, heard it was more light and airy of a vape than claptons. Plus I don't have a vice or anything lol.

Anyway I have a quick question for you builders. So I was tightening down my favorite dual fused clapton in my twisted messes rda today because the resistance was hopping on my reader and then I heard the dreaded "click" like I had snapped the leads. But I put my screwdriver in and pulled and tugged and nothing came out. Even tried to knock the short ends out with tweezers and nothing budget. Heated it up, was heating evenly, then popped it back on the ohm reader to a steady reading. You think the click was nothing?

OK makes sense, I'm still new to wicking also . I'm never sure if I have Just the right amount of cotton . Btw I use cotton bacon for wicks.

Yeah you are using way too much cotton. You're drowning your deck. They say you always want to see a little bit of deck down there. I especially would cut down if I were you using that expensive name brand "special" cotton.

Here's a build I did a little while ago, granted my coils are high and the well is probably much deeper than your patriot, you can get the idea of how the wicks almost just touch the deck and there's so much room under and around the coil.

OK. I'll cut down on what I'm using. Actually for a big pack of the cotton bacon it's only $5 and some change. You might get close to 80 wicks out of that. It's pretty cheap for the amount you get.

You want the cotton snug but not tight (it expands when wet) in the coil. If the rba has a decent juice well, I trim my wick tails down so that there is just enough to reach the deck and slightly tuck under the coils. Lifting the coils up a bit was also good advice....no need to rebuild, just pull the wicks, insert your bit (or whatever you wrapped them on) and gently prise them up some. Where the coils are positioned in relation to the air holes will drastically change your vape. My preference is to have my coil directly in front of and level with the air hole

I now exclusively use rayon. $12 or so at Sally's beauty supply will net a lifetime supply sized box :p
