Hi guys I need a little guidance here...
I've been building my coils for more than 2 years but I want to take it to the next level and need some help.
My usual builds go from .2 to .5 ohms single and dual powered by mechs
I want to build a low ohm ~.2 single coil that heats instantly in order to take a 1-2 second vape. I know the parameter I need to dial in is the heatflux but I have no idea at what to aim for
I have 22 24 26 28 g kanthal
All my single .2 take some time to heat up, they work great but I want an instant hit

A 3 wrap, 3.5 mm ID 22 gauge kanthal will put you at 88.2 watts (.2 ohm) and a heat flux of 971 mw/mm2 :-o

but do I want a lower or higher mw/mm2??
this will just be used for 1-2 second pulls so doesn't matter if it gets really hot after as I won't be pressing it longer
You might get what you desire easier if you aren't so set on .2 ohm....
3 wraps on a 2.5mm ID of 26 gauge kanthal, 0.4 ohm, heat flux.....976 mw/mm2.... Higher ohm, but still higher heat flux, less wire mass.....faster heat up time

This is why I like my variant clone.....i can build a coil with a lot of surface area and coil mass....yet still get high output with short quick draws.
Dual 24 gauge wrapped in 32 gauge. 0.35 Ohms. The Velocity vapes like a dream with this setup. Extremely good flavor.
The sides of it are like an iPhone screen, made of glass. One drop and you could shatter your screen, no upgrade capabilities, and the button placement in relation to the 510 connection. I personally would rather it be on the far side of the 510, but that's just me. It's a sleek looking mod though, check out twisted420's review of it on YouTube. At over 150w it fires in pulse, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Also, the IPV3 Li has firmware updates, resistance lock and what looks like an easier menu to work around, and because I see it on sale for around $85 with shipping.
Yeah the only reason I was actually considering the Snow Wolf over the IPV3Li was the looks and firm factor of it. I definitely like the smaller size, especially when I learned that the IPV3Li is even taller than my Sigelei 150. I'll probably go with the IPV3Li because of the firmware upgradability and such but suck my mom's review of the ipv4 instilled some new doubt in me. It wasn't specifically what he said about that device that bothered me, it was what he said about Pioneer4you being known as a shady company for a long time.

pressed mod and cam buttons at same time with the last pic & me batteries were at 4v, its a really nice vape with my 50/50 juice & 4mg with plenty of throat but i'd imagine with more vg it would spit hot juice in your mouth

My preference is claptons... I think they have the best flavor of all the builds I've tried. I even put claptons in all my tanks.

But yeah, P4Y & Sigelei both are sister companies under Asmodus. Sigelei seems to be the sturdier made of the three, while P4Y has more features such as firmware upgrades and cool things like touch sensors. I have an IPV mini 30w, and it read my Atlantis wrong, at .4ohms. The sx130 chip inside of that mod is supposed to have a cut off at .5 ohms. I opened it up only to find the positive 510 wire had come unattached to the + 510 connection. I had to resolder every connection in the mod to get the chip to read accurately. Now I only use it for my nautilus/nautilus mini tanks in PWM mode.
Funny thing is, I tried a local B&M's Sigelei 30w mini, with my Atlantis & same coil, and the chip read .5-.6 ohms.
On my ohm reader my Atlantis reads .54, which is accurate, because to reach a .5 using the resistance wire/non-resistance wire in the coils, you need 2 inches of 26g kanthal. I opened up one of the used Atlantis coils, stretched it out, and measured the length of the coil that heats up and its 2" even, which equates to .535 ohms using 26g kanthal.
I really want to see the internal wirings of the IPV3 Li, I know the IPV3 has proven to be a solid mod over the past, so I want to see what corners they cut to make the price so low. One nice feature I've seen so far is the battery connection upgrade, from the springs on the original IPV3 compared to the copper spring loaded connections that look more like the internals of a Sigelei's battery sled.
I'm just gonna take my time to see where the faults and complaints of each mod start trickling in before I make a choice. I'm most likely leaning towards either an sx350j or DNA 200 DIY box because I'd know exactly what's in it, how it's set up, and that everything I install will be the correct part.
I LOVE that style build on a Competition Kennedy. Either a quad like that or an infinity style dual coil. They just look perfect over the airflow.24G quad on my Kennedy
