Those are monster coils :D Which rta is that? it has huge post holes.
Thanks. It's a Cthulhu v3.
Awesome tank...1.5mm hex instead of 1.3mm m2.5
Almost a 20mm deck...19.8mm
The wicking ports similar to the Griffin but larger and integrated with no ring.

The only problem with it was the drip tip and adapter are sloppy/loose. If you put it in your pocket, they fall right off.
Fixed it with Teflon.
I'm about to build the single coil deckbut I only have a 3.5mm rod with me. I really need 4/5mm to fill out the deck.

I might have to look into that rta, do you know the size of the post holes?

Your going to have to come to my house and wrap it for me B, I'm helpless. No but seriously I've got the clapton part, decoring part, stretching the wire and setting up the swivels down pack. Once I start wrapping I can't find the correct angle and tension to successfully wrap the entire leanth of the cores....I got lucky the other day and wrapped about an inch out of seven. That was after 2 hrs or more trying....

I feel that if you can master wrapping aliens & staple staggered coils everything else becomes a piece of cake. Those are the 2 coils I've been struggling to learn for about a month now.
Bad listen - you have to go slow at first, super slow. Use magnifying goggles if you need to see that it's falling into grooves. First thing you have to make sure is that it's not stretched too much as boden said. As a general rule of thumb you want the stretched wire to look like a corkscrew. If you stretch too much it won't wrap right. If you don't stretch enough you'll end up putting too much tension on it and it will triangle on you. Once you got that part down you have to make certain that your cores are staying as parallel as possible and don't go into a triangle shape. Hope that helps you.

When I started years ago I made this hand crank so I could go slow enough.

I clamp it to my build desk.

Do any of you guys use the 'Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo(R) Deluxe Winder' for twisting wires or other techniques like tensioning standard coils?
I use one every day but just for making coils.

Imo twisting wire is a waste of wire.
I don't know what "tensioning" a standard (2-2.9mm) coil is. Maybe :)

I got the magnifying jeweler goggles that I seen on one of ohmboys vids but I think I need a super bright light to go with them. Maybe a mini maglite headband or something.

See that build deck Boden has, I also went and built a board but I'm using a vise and and hand drill to work at a slower pace for the fusing. I find it's to much back and forth with the errors ...
I also thought that if I set the 2 staggered cores correctly with the tape it would be easier to get the wires in the groves but that's not the case... Its the tension and placement of the wire in my hand that's killing it..I looked at the vid of Mturk and OC where he sez hold the wire at an angle in front of the wire as it sets, unlike the Clapton. I'm not giving up just yet so I ordered a couple attys that can fit these types of builds. Hopefully that will push and help me get it right for the picture's...
Thank you guys for your help and tips. Hopefully soon I'll post the miracle.....lol
Almost forgot to mention that I really like the coil rig Boden. Get back on it and make some coils...lol

Did you steal the handle off the Flintstone car?....hehehe. just kidding B.

I'm coiling as fast as I can Captain...

;)

Edit: The higher the magnification the more light you need.

Post holes are 3mm with M3.5 Allen heads.

Cthulhu Mod Cthulhu V3 Two Post RTA

ECA10 gets 10% off store wide.
If you want a full write up just LMK.
It's a great tank for larger builds but it has a quirk or two.

Thats half a mm bigger than the Limitless Plus, i will hang fire on buying one just yet, thanks for your help :)

You didn't see my post for you on the previous page, ive copied and pasted-->
Sounds like your following the angle that the staggers are running at, i don't know if you saw the 5strand fused stagger i did but i pretty much ran the fuse wire at a 90 degree to the main wires that hold the staggers.
You can do the same when using twisted wire as the frames, you can either run with the angle of the twists or just cut straight across. When you look at the following pic you can see what i mean https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/attachments/image-jpeg.585965/

It was between the Cthulhu and the Limitless for me. I feel like the Limitless would give the Cthulhu a run for its money. I'm pretty sure you could fit more wire in my tank but the Limitless would do more with less. If you put a little coil in the Cthulhu with the chamber as large as it is, it would be underwhelming.
The Cthulhu wins the single coil battle imo. There's no posts in the way so you're only limited by the size of the chamber.

The only reason I picked the Cthulhu is because I like RTAs more than dripper because of the chimney. Still wish I had one though.

Here's my first single coil build...I used some twisted wire I had lying around. It doesn't vape well but this was just an experiment to see just how big I could go. I wrapped it around a screw, no idea what size so I took a picture for scale.

I just took ten long pulls at 80w with a 100w/.25 second preheat. No dry hits but it needs some clapton for sure.

Don't worry bro, you'll get there. Don't give up. I have faith in you. It's just gonna take some time.

As for holding the alien wire, mturk is right, what he doesn't mention is what angle to hold it on. It's very tricky both with aliens and claptons when you're spool wrapping, because the "feel" you would get is gone. You can't feel the wire pulling so it's harder. The advantage is that there is a lot more room for error.

As for goggles, I got these a while back and they're amazing. I'm constantly on x15 lens for one eye when I'm doing something that needs my full attention. They're cheap, you can swap out lenses, they have little led light so you can see what you're doing. I would totally recommend these to you dude.
Double Eye Jewelry Watch Repair Magnifier Loupe Glasses With LED Light 8 Lens
One quick tip - stack up on LR1130 batteries for the led lights. It also comes with an adjustable head band which is great when you have to lean over cause they won't fall off like normal glasses would

Have you tried a plain old parallel build without the clapton?

I want to do a double parallel with 30g but I don't have any round wire. I will soon though.
This coil makes my juice taste funny, don't know why.

May have a sneaky hotspot. Must investigate :D
That's what I hate about this...you can spend the better part of a day on something just to have it perform like doo doo.
It doesn't look like it's been dry fired.
Looks nice though.

After Bodens lite advise I went and modified my goggles with a bigger magnifying lite. The led it came with went dull to quick with the little watch batteries so I also made use of an old 18350 battery....

I'm getting ready to conquer and build like the pros....lol yeah that will be the day!

I know this isn't anything big but I did it with a little help and I'm proud...hehe
