I vape mine around 1.8 ohms, and it's rich and warm from the first fire. Did you double up on your wick at the coil? If so, then next time try not. I find that a single strand of 3mm wick (equivalent to your 2mm ekowool) works better for me than looping the wick or doubling it; whereas too much wick causes the symptom you describe.
Until you find a build you like, I recommend not filling the tank more than a mil or so. Try it with different wick configurations. Try it with one fewer turn of coil. Two fewer. Try spacing the wraps out a little so that the legs are a little farther apart than the stance of the screw down terminals, so you have to squeeze the legs in a little to get them to fit under the screw heads. Play around with it until you take a vape and say, "This is amazeballs!" Because the Kayfun has the potential to be just that, as long as you have the patience for trial and error until you find the setup you like best.
Regarding draw, you might stuff a small twist of ss mesh into the air channel below the coil to tighten it up a little.
Or you could try to trade it for a Russian 91%, which does have adjustable draw. I've read that the R91 has issues with voltage drop in its adjustable height 510 center screw, though. I'm still waiting on mine, so I can't say first hand.
Easiest thing might just be to give the looser draw a chance and see if it grows on you, though.
