Hey Cucco, I've found that Ahlusion's Kona Kick has made the biggest impact on me. Just a nice, smooth, crisp coffee with a touch of chocolate for a little sweetness. I could vape it all day and not get tired of it. I have not yet been able to find a good dark roast (Italian) flavor if that's your thing, but despite being lighter with a pinch of chocolate, I've found Kona Kick vapes beautifully.

Thanks! Italian .. that would be me!

O.K.. Been vaping the kayfun Lite on my beautiful ELA. This is my first 'non drip', and my first RBA.

Running AW IMR 18490. No Kick yet. Did a 1.5 ohm wrap. Kanthal A-1 Ribbon .5x1mm/Ekowool 2mm

Should it take multiple hits before you get good vape when cold?

Is the Kayfin Lite a bit too airy? No adjustment. Has anyone ever modified it?

I vape mine around 1.8 ohms, and it's rich and warm from the first fire. Did you double up on your wick at the coil? If so, then next time try not. I find that a single strand of 3mm wick (equivalent to your 2mm ekowool) works better for me than looping the wick or doubling it; whereas too much wick causes the symptom you describe.

Until you find a build you like, I recommend not filling the tank more than a mil or so. Try it with different wick configurations. Try it with one fewer turn of coil. Two fewer. Try spacing the wraps out a little so that the legs are a little farther apart than the stance of the screw down terminals, so you have to squeeze the legs in a little to get them to fit under the screw heads. Play around with it until you take a vape and say, "This is amazeballs!" Because the Kayfun has the potential to be just that, as long as you have the patience for trial and error until you find the setup you like best.

Regarding draw, you might stuff a small twist of ss mesh into the air channel below the coil to tighten it up a little.

Or you could try to trade it for a Russian 91%, which does have adjustable draw. I've read that the R91 has issues with voltage drop in its adjustable height 510 center screw, though. I'm still waiting on mine, so I can't say first hand.

Easiest thing might just be to give the looser draw a chance and see if it grows on you, though.

I'll have to wait until I get home to try another attie on it. I'm pretty sure there isnt a short in the attie itself though since it fires fine on my other mod with short protection

Did you get a chance to try another atty? Does the button still intermittently heat up? Does the battery rattle when this occurs, or does it also heat up when the battery is snug?

Rojo: Thanks! This was just my second build. I need to start building and building. :) I am doubled at the coil. I did a figure 8. That would be doubled.

Cucco with respect to the airflow the distance of the coil from the air hole can have a minor influence on the air flow. The closer the coil is to the air hole the tighter the draw. I position mine about a mm above. Also once you're become proficient with your builds you may want to look into micro coils and cotton wicking as an experiment. I now use them in all my kayfuns and they work very well.

I too agree with the microcoils on the kayfun.. The build i have now is my first successful micro coil in my kayfun.. And also using cotton.. Okay, i got my "sterile cotton balls" at cvs. Straight from the bag i pinched some to use.

I wrapped 28gauge kanthal around a 7/64 drill bit 5 times. It gave me 1.2 ohms. Rember to pinch close ur microcoil with tweezers and give it a torch. It keeps the coils nice and tight.

I set micro coil in place and tightened the screws. Feed some cotton thru and left enough on each side to hang down the sides for wicking. Dropped some juice and put my kayfun together.

Im really suprised how well this cotton has kept up with my chain vaping. No dry hits and very tasty vape. Im excited that when i want to change flavors i know i can pull the cotton out, dry durn the same coil and add more cotton.. Yay....

A little update,

Went over all of my threads and contacts with a q-tip and some PGA, made sure everything was nice and clean. Vaped a few minutes after, the button got so hot it hurt my finger. I'm not sure what the issue is, i've tried three different fully charged 18650s and having the same issue still

A button getting so hot you can't touch it on any negative ground button mod indicates a short. Most likely in the atomizer but also possibly in the battery. First, back the center post way off so its not touching the atomizer center pin, reinstall new atomizer down tight , gently tighten the center post up until it makes contact with the atomizer. The next thing would be check your coil if its an rba to make sure it isn't shorting. Next check the bottom of the battery tube to make sure the preinstalled oring is still in place down in the bottom of the tube. Next check to make sure your battery doesn't have any rips or tears in its wrapping that cause a short. Theres really nothing in the mod itself that can go wrong to cause a short but there is a slim chance some metal debris could be bridging the gap between the center post and the outer cap, remove center post and top cap, wash with warm water and dishsoap, blow dry. Battery rattling sounds to me like the oring isn't in the bottom of the tube or its out of place, recheck.

Despite all the shipping notice confusion from USPS, I received my ELA on Friday! I'm currently running a KFL on top, micro+cotton at 1.7 ohms with AiV's Zombie Apocalypse inside. Loving it in 18500 mode with my Velocity Snub Nose T-Tip (with ELA polished finish).

Not running a kick but the vapor is still nice at 1.7. I usually run around 1.5 but this build was a little higher and I was too anxious to try my ELA to rebuild it. I'm fairly used to vaping at 11-12 watts so this does fair considering I change out my batteries every 10 hours or so. Still, I plan on rebuilding after this tank since its not quite as warm as what I'm used to. Once I get some 28g kanthal, I'll probably experiment with going lower... probably somewhere around 1.2.
