I think that's the plan... Although I wouldn't be surprised if David had 2nd thoughts... After personally hand finishing, tuning and testing each and every ELA going out the door... When compared to the Simplicity... Even at 1/2 the price, I'd imagine that the Simplicity is far more profitable than the ELA once man hours are thrown into the equation. (Machine hours too... The HAAS wasn't cheap)
Yes, I think FF said early on the ELAs were going out at near cost at preorder pricing. So I wouldn't be surprised if some hard thinking hasn't been done on what to do after the last 200 are out the door.

What amazes me is the price those type of mods go for used. The Simplicity has just as much in machining and engineering as many of them and is Precious Metal Plated on the contacts to boot! Shows what throwing a bit of polish and engraving on them does. Not to mention the ELA which has probably 2-4 times the machine time, parts and engineering of any mod out there and is Precious metal plated too. Hell of a bargain :) (yeah, i have to do some sales promoting)

People are all about having something unique and sought after. they want limited production. They want to toss a pic out of their mod on instagram and watch the SEA of "i'm so jelly!!" posts that follow cuz others haven't been able to get it.

It's that mentality that is holding back the ELA from being "considered" among the upper tier, high demand mods by the "collectors". Not just the polish and engraving alone. cuz THIS, as it sits:

Z5Tdvru.jpg

doesn't just rival those top sought-after mods, it DUSTS them, imo.

but we saw several times in this thread people asking if the ELA was going to be numbered. and something as simple as THAT is what would turn your highly engineered mods into something that those collectors would scramble for. I believe that you have created a winner here and i cannot wait to get it in my hands and i think, as more of us get them, the more it'll be recognized for what it is...one of the best mech mods in the field.

1000000000000% agree
ehhhh let me chime in a hot second here. Poor nothing lol. This goes to any mod maker... If you are not up to the task of making product assuming hit or miss then you have no business -selling- (not making, it's a free world) your product. I'm sorry blix, it's a lame excuse. Pedro plays innocent, and he's not a bad guy at all, but production = $$ income so no tears from me. Last saturday wild valley screwed up the sale of ihybrids and faceless's excuse to not sell to those who won the le was "if i let everyone buy one that wanted one i'd have to make 60,000 units". Ok buddy slow down, if you were able to sell 60,000 of them you would be taking instagram shots of your ferrari with a kool-aid smile. The point... Feed the demand or just don't play in this game. We work hard for our money and noone has to feel like they are being done any favors to be -able- to buy a mod lol. .... Of here with that mentality.

Ok i'm back, the angry hulk is gone :)

Here is what I have found...lets say I am using an 18490 with a Kick set at 10 watts....
In my other mod(Provari) I use an 18490 adjusting my voltage so it gives the same 10 watt vape...
The Kicked mod run times have always been shorter than the Provari using the same 18490 battery/atomizer... Not sure why, but it is....??

This is normal, River. The Kick stops working and gives the "stutter-vape" when the loaded voltage of the battery drops down to around 3.2V IIRC, which in my experience has been around 3.6 or so unloaded, sometimes as high as 3.7V. the Provari on the other hand will keep functioning longer. Back when I had a Provari, I recall the batteries being down around 3.2-3.3 (unloaded, checked with multimeter) when I changed them.
Given the nature of the Kick and the fact that Evolv has no control over how the end user will use/abuse it, it was a smart move from a safety standpoint (aka CYA for Evolv) to set the "dead battery" point so high. There is far more chance of user-initiated catastrophe with something like the Kick than with a Provari.

You don't even have to sand the Kick's contacts. I use some Mother's Mag Wheel polish on them (or any brass contacts), work it to a nice new shine then apply a tiny dab of Noalox to inhibit oxidation. That's the best I can do! :p

You don't even need to use polishes or any special materials. A standard pencil eraser works great to clean the Kick contacts ;-)

Wait, I'm 149xx. I did get my shipping notification on the 7th, but it seems to be stuck at Electronic Shipping Notification. Should it have gone out by now?

The problem here lies in how stamps.com handles tracking. David prints the shipping labels when he begins processing/packing the order, which prompts stamps to send you the tracking number even though it hasn't actually been shipped, yet. So just consider it a good sign because it means your ELA is in the process of being prepped for shipment :)

I agree with this to a point... I would, however, argue that anyone who sells anything has the right to pick and choose to whom they want to sell to and to choose how many items they want to make and sell.

Personally, I think that intentionally limiting production to make something collectible is a crappy business model but to each their own.

Technically yes they do have the right, hell I have the right to tell them where to go too, but at the end of the day it's supposed to be business. You are correct, that business model is doomed. I'd tell you all of my genius concepts, but ill keep that card in my deck if I ever decide to use it. The goal is not to live off "special editions", it's to offer them as a halo brand and offer a common model(s) for mass consumption. Brand identity, brand "stickiness", and the reason why people are proud to say they drive a Fiat because they can say it's "made by Ferrari" (other way around).

David seems to be doing this, if not completely then pay attention :).

 You guys seem to confuse a hobbyist who's not interested in turning his hobby into a full time business with someone trying to make as much money as possible. The business model is flawed because he's not interested in making this a full-time job. Pedro has a full time job, and I'd venture to say that if he could stop making his PV's now without being a jerk to people who have been waiting almost a year on the list he probably would.

Is he making some money? I hope so, just seeing how many illiterate people sign up on his forum asking how to get one of his PV's when the information is posted in 50 bajillion different places would be worth a couple hundred bucks a week. Have I ever thought "oh, poor Pedro?" Heck no, people love what he makes and he's probably making a decent amount of money on the side to supplement his income from his primary job. That has to feel good.

Anyway, I think it's overall pretty pointless to critique a business model for a business that isn't really a business. And I think it's extra pointless to go on and on about it in a thread about the ELA :p

For the record, I do have a Caravela, and I think it's a great PV. Do I think it's worth more than the original price? No. If I hadn't managed to get on the list pretty early, you sure as hell wouldn't see me paying 100 or a 1000% more for one. On the other hand, I wouldn't pay extra for any PV out there. If the money isn't going into the person's hand who designed and manufactured it, I'll find a different PV to own.

vaptamist, as snork would say.... You're a man after my own heart!

I agree on all points.

That being said.... ELA!!! :vapor:

ELA!! I'm so excited that the first batch is almost over. I think I'm pretty much the first person in batch two. I should have just ordered it back in December instead of waiting. I don't even remember the reason I waited. Whatever it was, it was a bad decision!

Well, I just paid for my second ELA, I charged it but just sold some great drip tips that I was not using, one special little one left

SOld some things Ive had in boxes for years from childhood and got great money for them. So now I can pay for car repairs and pay off the card for the ELA. Ive been on a sick spending spree since I got my first ELA, fancy drip tips, batteries, Little bits and pieces for my Odys it adds up. I used birthday money and christmas money for ELA, so I didnt really pay for it, gift money.

My Odysseus and my Saber were a gift to myself for selling my first ( and only, so far ) photo. Now I have to stop.
I have to sell more photos, but cant find "weird enough" people to want to buy them.

Where can I see your photos? I am probably one of those 'weird enough' people. :)

I have some on my profile page here on ECF. I have to put some up on Imageshack, I only have product shots on Imageshack right now.
Let me know if you want to see more after you see the photo albums here on ECF.

Thanks fellow "wierdo" :)

Got my ELA today, order 14958

For those testing their skills:

5 - How to Be Invisible - Track 5 on Aerial by Kate Bush
8 - Drawman - Track 8 on A Boot and a Shoe by Sam Phillips

It is wonderful, hitting hard, looking lovely with its brass accent rings. Pictures to come, but too tired now.

Noticed a couple of things:
1 - With an AW18500 there is a bit of a gap - nothing horrible though.
2 - It does fire standing up if I don't lock the button with both an AW 18500, and an AW 18650. Doesn't bother me though, as I usually don't leave my mods standing anyway (at least now that I have switched from a Vivi Nova to a Kanger Protank.)
3 - Would really love a larger accent ring designed to cover the entire inner tube when in 18650 mode. I like the look of the inner tube, but not a huge fan of the change in diameter. I put a stainless accent ring on as well, but there is still a good sized gap.
4 - Would love to see some blued steel accent rings. Someone posted a picture, and they looked really nice. Also some anodized colors like Black, a deep rich blue, RED, a rich dark bronze, copper, etc...
5 - Loving the locking button. I have a P18 - not a P+, so this is my first experience with Dave's locking button. Brilliant. I have a couple of cheap mods with locking buttons, but they are such a PITA that I never use them.

Thanks Dave, and all at Super T!

Off to vape, read, and sleep! Most likely in that order.
