How about a brew, vape, and a cuban?

Here are my issues with Johnson and I was able to find his site after an exhausting google search.

Immigration: Make it easier not harder to enter our country?

Job Creation: Zero tax for business but tax the workers? Hello

Foreign Policy: The same as Trump has been saying plus Trump doesn't want to take in any refugees from Syria.

Criminal Justice reform: I agree potheads shouldn't be sent to prison. He only mentioned the leafy plant.

Education: Here is what he says. More broadly, Gov. Johnson believes there is no role for the Federal Government in education. He would eliminate the federal Department of Education, and return control to the state and local levels. He opposes Common Core and any other attempts to impose national standards and requirements on local schools, believing the key to restoring education excellence in the U.S. lies in the innovation, freedom and flexibility that federal interference inherently discourages.

Right out of the Trump playbook. Trump has been saying that from day one.

Abortion: He is totally wishy washy on the subject.

Tax code: Yup it is screwed up, but Mr Johnson isn't very clear on who pays taxes and who doesn't. Well a business won't pay any tax.

DP I did read and turned off Fox News too. What he left out was the 2nd Amendment entirely off his web site. Since it's a major topic I'm concerned about why his Presidential web site is avoiding the subject. :toast:

Hold these thoughts. And give me that cuban (and I don't mean Mark!).

TBD (on not-Friday-night).

Get your ducks in a row.

WAIT! Are you implying that I need to do some research before responding?

LOL!!! That's awesome. No worries. You don't know me well enough to know...

Where's my ... cuban? :vapor:

It worked out pretty well for the colonies, 240 years ago... ;)

Well, until recently that is.
Yes, that was a long time ago.
And I would have agreed that it worked out pretty well, until I spent two years living in England. Not so sure now. I look back on those couple of years and think about a generally open and free spirited society, without the puritan hangups we have here. Just consider how differently the mainstream view vaping in the two places. Just one example.

Ping, you really think UK leaving the EU would be a good thing for them?

R
I think it's going to be a rough period for them in the near future, though a good thing longer term. But, the EU strikes me as a totally anti-democratic authoritarian bureaucracy, with a failing economy. That causes me some pain, because I have dual citizenship and would have loved the EU to succeed.

The theory of sovereignty seems to have been lost in the shuffle with the EU. Rotating "Presidencies", un-elected officials, as well as a host of other issues swung the tide. The true impact of the Brexit will not be known for some time. Everything at this point is still theoretical as nothing of this magnitude has happened in recent times. They used to be referred to as the British Empire...based on their economic strength they were marganilized in my opinion. I'm not sure how I would have voted if I were in their shoes. What I do appreciate is the fact that it was a democratically decided affair. I also appreciate the fact that their politicians respect the will of the people and resign when appropriate. i think the Prime Minister's decision to step aside was admirable.

Republicanism as in the United States doesn't seem to work either.

Building walls never works. <nods>
I'm not a Republican but please don't equate them with the craziness of today.

"Mr. Gorbachev... "

I am speaking of republicanism as in constitutional republic, democratic republic and so on.
Nothing to do with the republican party.

I blame both political parties for the craziness of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

p.s. I said "Republicanism as in the United States" because the system doesn't exactly fit the dictionary definition of a republic.
