Ok, wasn't sure.
I think I've read just way too much that last month and a half. I think my brain has cried "Uncle" and just stopped processing things.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. If I didn't already know about it, I would want to.

OK. Sorry it took so long but I couldn't find my library card.

BOTH parties have proven that they're unable to handle the responsibilities before them. Politics has been tremendously nasty from Day One, but what we have now is ridiculous. A sobering SMACK might pull both parties out of their American Idol mentalities, and MAYBE they'd start doing their jobs, instead of trying to win the vote of public opinion. Cases in point, presenting bills with the actual intention, not of passing them, but of making the other guys vote against them. Children, please...

DP, can I love this?

But... Dr. Brazelton won't let us SMACK them!

Oh, I definitely had the same reaction as you.
That was just a link I could quickly grab.

I'm sure they do a lot of good in the area, and I'm sure it's sorely needed, but they picked the wrong thing to attack, clearly without any research, or unbiased research on their part. Sad. But it (again) shows the times we're living through. Facts don't matter, scientific, or otherwise, only public perception.
I have no issue with you posting the link. It is important information for us, and why I "liked" your post. My comment was aimed at the author, who, like so many vaping advocates, seems unwilling to avoid bowing down in front of the alter of Political Correctness when arguing our cause. I obviously take a No Prisoners approach to this... I feel the same about those that need to acknowledge there "must be something harmful about this" before stating their pro-vape opinion. When in fact there is no evidence whatsoever and in fact vaping may be quite beneficial to health. But we must bow down in front of the alter of PC before stating our case...

Thanks, I figured you would, if you hadn't.

Well, and please take this in the spirit it's intended, which is only good intentions...because if you had taken issue, then it's just a difference in our opinions, which...and this is just my outlook, or opinion, but if we keep open minds, someone taking issue with, or opposing our said opinion, shouldn't bother us...so, it wouldn't have bothered me if you had taken issue or had a different opinion. :). Please know, I mean that in the kindest way, and not in an argumentative type way.
I learn best from listening or conversing with others who have different options than I do. They don't always sway me, but I often leave with a better understanding of why others feel the way they do.

We're Americans, we're always going to debate the issues. We all have different life experiences that shape our views. It's gone to very unhealthy extremes the past several years, and that does in fact worry me. :(

I also didn't mean that to be politically correct. I personally take issue with all the mentally ill people roaming the streets with no where to turn. In a nation with the resources we have, it's the same way I feel about the treatment of our Vet's, it just shouldn't go on.
So, I'm hoping they do in fact provide some good services in the area, because there has been more than a little (at least) to be depressed about in the Detroit area for a very long time.
I think things are starting to swing back around, but I think if the ball is dropped at any point, it will revert back, and that will be devastating to those who are fighting so hard to bring Detroit back.

Oh my goodness, it's too early to be this deep...I'm off to eat breakfast. :D

Shared that article on my FB page with header: We are not going to go down quietly!
That's good!! That needs to be opposed, and loudly!!

They're trying to shift public perception away from something that can save, no pun intended, "A Billion Lives".

OK. Sorry it took so long but I couldn't find my library card.

Let me start by stating that I am registered unaffiliated (and will be for life). Also, as a parent who believed that Dr. Brazelton began the downfall of this country (or at least helped), the value of a good spanking should not be underrated.

BOTH parties have proven that they're unable to handle the responsibilities before them. Politics has been tremendously nasty from Day One, but what we have now is ridiculous. Now - to your points (to the best of my ability).

Immigration: Make it easier not harder to enter our country?
My understanding is that it would be easier to obtain a WORK visa (good for one day), but NOT easier in general. This could actually work, if played correctly. I have no personal answers to the immigration issue, but I don't believe that a wall is either realistic or productive.

Job Creation: Zero tax for business but tax the workers? Hello
Hello what? Are you familiar with how states have been bolstering their economies for decades, using that exact same principle? It's when they pull out that the trouble begins, ironically enough. I'd LOVE to discuss this one in great detail with you (or anyone), having grown up in what became known as The Gold Coast...

Foreign Policy: The same as Trump has been saying plus Trump doesn't want to take in any refugees from Syria.
All candidates have issues in this area. Expectations that anything would be clear, and practical, by the time of the election would be delusional.

Criminal Justice reform: I agree potheads shouldn't be sent to prison. He only mentioned the leafy plant.
Another broad issue that will require ANY candidate time in office, to see what can actually be accomplished. The ultimate message is that if it's not hurting someone directly, it would probably be legal.

Not that he, or anyone, could actually accomplish such a thing.

Education: Here is what he says. More broadly, Gov. Johnson believes there is no role for the Federal Government in education. He would eliminate the federal Department of Education, and return control to the state and local levels. He opposes Common Core and any other attempts to impose national standards and requirements on local schools, believing the key to restoring education excellence in the U.S. lies in the innovation, freedom and flexibility that federal interference inherently discourages.

Right out of the Trump playbook. Trump has been saying that from day one.

Wait - please tell me that you're not giving opposition to Common Core credit to Trump. He far from originated the idea. Most people with any common sense saw CC as a power grab by a union. And an idiotic one at that.

Abortion: He is totally wishy washy on the subject.
In WHAT way? I believe his stance is, "Always come down on the side of choice."

Tax code: Yup it is screwed up, but Mr Johnson isn't very clear on who pays taxes and who doesn't. Well a business won't pay any tax.
Again, I disagree. He is for a single consumption tax, somewhere in the 20-28% range. Irrelevant since it will NEVER happen. The lobbyists have too much power, and you can throw this idea out with the trash.

That being said, it IS a good idea. I've been a one-tax guy since Steve Forbes (actually, before that even).

I say everybody pays 15-20% (ZERO deductions). I'll give them up to EOB Monday, but starting Tuesday, I want it all. Fairly simple approach.

DP I did read and turned off Fox News too. What he left out was the 2nd Amendment entirely off his web site. Since it's a major topic I'm concerned about why his Presidential web site is avoiding the subject.
Again, Ping, he's been very clear. He supports the 2nd Amendment. I don't know what the website says, but anyone who follows the party knows that this is NOT questionable. It's one of the primary parts of the platform.

>

And please notice that I have not picked apart, and pointed out discrepancies (or idiotic statements), by your candidate of choice. That would take a few weeks, but again, is irrelevant. You believe the Republicans aren't part of the problem, and I do not. It's that simple.

In my opinion, they all need that spanking. And voting L this year would do exactly that. The interesting thing is that, for the first time, the most qualified ticket is the 3rd party. Two two-term, successful governors, both Republican (at the time) who did fine in mainly Democratic states. Bi-partisan? As you said, "Hello?".

Let Freedom Ring.

Johnson/Weld, 2016

Don't worry, Ping. The powers that be are already clearly squashing all efforts (as they always do). And the sheep that has become of The People will continue to follow, blindly to our peril...

Our last chance will be Article V (if we don't see civil war first). Fingers crossed, with hope hanging by a thread.

Well you will have to wait for the cuban I thought obama was going to bring back some from the baseball game he watched in cuba. Apparently when doing the wave they fell out of his pocket.

Immigration: Make it easier not harder to enter our country?
My understanding is that it would be easier to obtain a WORK visa (good for one day), but NOT easier in general.

Ok now that 1000 immigrants have a one day work visa how on earth are you going to find them and send them back after day one is over? Do they just work in border states? Can't be more than a hours drive to work and get back to Mexico. With no wall and a open border why not just cross the line and work all you want? That's been the policy for years so why change it? If they get hurt or sick we throw in 100% health insurance with no deductible. Which leads me to your next point.

Tax code: Yup it is screwed up, but Mr Johnson isn't very clear on who pays taxes and who doesn't. Well a business won't pay any tax.

Since there is no tax plan for illegals you might just have to up your flat tax.

Abortion: He is totally wishy washy on the subject.
In WHAT way? I believe his stance is, "Always come down on the side of choice."

Ahh but did he leave out who pays for the abortions? Side of choice is fine DP, but who pays the government or the woman? Wishy washy.

Right out of the Trump playbook. Trump has been saying that from day one.
Wait - please tell me that you're not giving opposition to Common Core credit to Trump. He far from originated the idea. Most people with any common sense saw CC as a power grab by a union. And an idiotic one at that.

Can you name one candidate who came out against CC?

State tax exempt for a certain number of years not federal tax exempt. If you give every business in the US zero federal tax the country will self destruct. Great idea for Exon, Apple, Boeing, etc.

I'm not finding anything on the 2nd Amendment there.

We could go on to election day and beyond. Third parties for the most part put the wrong party in office. If a third party was viable it shouldn't reside in the shadows and emerge during election years.

I realize you made up your mind as I have. Two major reasons why I'm voting for Trump is the 2nd Amendment and the Supreme Court. IMO voting for Johnson is a vote for Hillary, gun control, and a liberal Supreme Court. To me this can't be easier.

You're correct that we can go and on, to no avail. Unfortunately I don't have the time right now to get into it, but I'd love to get you on the phone one day and have an actual discussion of the issues.

Two points:

1. To date, he's actually pulling more from the Hillary camp than from Trump. The rules have changed this year, which should be evident.
2. Gun Laws

I wish I had more time, but I don't (right now). Let's take this private. Not that it matters, but it could be fun - and maybe we'd BOTH learn a thing or two.

And remember - NO candidate has all the answers. And Trump has changed positions on more issues than I can count (including Common Core). Ultimately we do what we THINK is best for the country. That's what I am doing this year, if there's ANY chance L might pull up (doubtful but hopeful). If not, I'll end up supporting Tweedle Dumb too (with my nose held).

And about that cuban - do they come in a vape option? ;)

No cuban vape, but a real cuban cigar won't kill us. We just may have to have that talk. The Supreme Court is a major issue in this election.

AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Supreme Court)

And just so you know, my intended target is not people like you, who HAVE a candidate they like. It's the throngs of people I see saying that there are no viable candidates this year.

Yes, there are...

I'd LOVE to do that one day or night. Light & vape them up, crack a (something or other), and have some fun.

I've been known to bore people to death (poor @Katdarling!), but I think we might be of similar makeup, so...

I certainly hope that organization does actually do some good with its primary mission. I also hope they get a good enough tongue thrashing from that billboard to keep their noses out of unrelated political crusades, although I'm not very optimistic ...

And Ping, if you're not already keyed in, I'd ask you (and anyone) to keep an eye on the following sites/organizations.

Home | Citizens Against Government Waste
Convention of States

We need to take this country back. The lawyers & lobbyists have stolen it from us, and the cable news networks perpetuate the divisions daily. It belongs to us, not them.

I try to remain optimistic, but it's becoming increasingly hard. :(
