Here's a sobering thought. Since I quit smoking, the state of Florida has lost $3660 in exise and state taxes from me not buying smokes. That's from me alone. Now if 25% of the smokers in the state stopped smoking, that would be somewhat of a big loss. In 2015, the state of Florida had about 19,600,000 residents. I tried to figure out how many are of adult or smoking age, and the best I can figure is not less than 60% of the total population. So, let's say 12,000,000 minimum. They say 4 - 5 of 10 adult people smoke cigarettes. So, there are potentially 4,800,000 smokers in the state.

On an annual basis, just from one adult smoker, who smoked 1 pack of cigarettes a day the state loses $2/day per person who quits smoking. Let's say that 25% of the current smoking population in Florida stops buying smokes. That's 1,200,000 times $2/day = $2,400,000 lost revenue from exise and state taxes every single day. Per week, that = $16,800,000/week, which translates to $863,600,000 lost revenue per year.

And we wonder why our government and the states don't want us to quit smoking.

I'm posting this again, in case anyone missed it:

For more on how and why tobacco companies support e-cig regulation, see this paper, forthcoming in the Yale Journal on Regulation. I found it in a Washington Post article*.

*Why the FDA’s new e-cigarette regulations are a gift to Big Tobacco (and could actually harm public health)

The relevant cloud chasing 200 watt crowd are one of the reasons we find ourselves in the here and now. Not because the devices are any more toxic or more likely to be used by the "Chillren", but to help leverage the non-vaping population against us (due to the quantum annoyance factor of said billowing cotton candy-smelling clouds) and while at the same time distracting those same Sheeple from seeing how their liberties are being slowly stripped away as well. Just HMO of course. :(

No, I'm sorry my friend. I'm just as unimpressed by cloud chasers as you are but they had nothing to do with this one. This was in the works before cloud chasing became, "popular."

Perhaps, at least in reference to the time frames involved. I stand by my assertion; however, that they do help support the "moral outrage/we know whats best for you" crowd against us. As always, just MHO.

All I'm saying is it would've happened anyway, clown chasers or not.

Thanks Ocelot, that was a great read. The Bootlegger/Baptist piece literally dissects all the fecal matter out of the equation and leaves the expected remains...$$$$$$$$

Oh I totally agree with you.

Unfortunately 15W will very almost certainly be irrelevant in 2-3 years. If the deeming regs are as I read them, we will see 300W+ mods released by August just to stay relevant.

I am more than good with what I have, but a new vaper won't be buying a $200 20W P3 in 2017 when one can buy a 500W Reuleaux or Kanger for $40.

After seeing the Deeming regs ... If I was ProVape, I would not discontinue the 2.5 ... the 2.5 would be the first device I would try to get approved. 15 watts works to get people off smokes ... the 100+ high wattage devices came about because ... clouds bro

I am very thankful for my 20 Provari's AND I'm confident I can vape for many, many years and not have to worry about the deeming regs. It's the people who have not prepared, who haven't even come to know vaping...so many lives will be lost because of this. It breaks my heart. My son, my best friend, my cousins all still slaves to cigarettes, and now may never have the chance to break free of them with vaping like I have. I have Provari's to share, but atties is another story. Last night I bought eight more KFLs to put in the top of the closet hoping that they will do my loved ones and friends some good in the future along with a trusty 2.5 :(

we think alike ... that is why I just bought my first 4 brand-new authentic Kayfun Lite v2+ tanks (my other 9 authentics were all bought used).

Signed

The reason I signed: I will do EVERYTHING in my power to get something done. If it works YAY! If not....I am fighting with every tool I have at my disposal. I am emailing/petitioning my Senators and Representatives. I am calling the White House, I am doing all the Calls To Action that is being requested of me.

Everything adds up to Fighting. Doing nothing adds up to letting them walk all over me.

I am still prepping for the worse case. Don't get me wrong. I don't think that anything we do will magically make it all go away. But I AM fighting. and prepping.

:thumb: :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

"Don't give up. Don't ever give up."

Even if this ends up passing in its current form, things can be reverted in time. Don't lose sight of the fact that The Monster (us) has already been unleashed. The world now KNOWS the benefits of vaping, and that clock can't be turned back. Common sense will prevail, in time. I'm confident of that.

Don't give up.

Don't ever give up.

Please.

Wish it were that simple DP...

It's all like a bad dream, courtesy of the US Government.

Still Vapin and Helping others as much as I can.

Jim

I fully understand that, Jim, and haven't lost sight in well over two years.

The truth is that I could fold up shop right now, if I wanted to. Kat and I formed a plan, over two years ago, and stuck to it, to the letter. I could not spend another penny, and my family-of-six-vapers (including KD) could continue vaping for the rest of my lifetime (sorry, kids, but I can only do so much).

But I'll danged if I'm going to throw in the towel now. Not only is this a winnable fight, even if not immediately, but I'm absolutely certain that we WILL win it. It may even take an election or two, but we will.

I'll stop fighting when rigor-mortis sets in. Let's stick together.

I know how you are feeling. Spent some time crying the last two days. I still get tears thinking about what they have done to us and what they are doing to those that will now be starting to smoke instead of picking up the magnitudes safer alternative.

It :censored: sucks. It is helping me to cope by rallying people who feel helpless like myself.

Each time I make a vow to fight, I get stronger. The tears come less often. They are still there under the surface, but I'm managing to keep them in check.

I'm with you and I know most of your Provarinati family is too! Shame on us if we take this lying down. Should we have to fight the people who are "supposed" to be looking out for our health. But fight them we must.

Not shame on us. There is no shame here.

SHAME ON THEM the FDA.

I will never, ever, Ever shame a vaper or a smoker.

Some people just hit that wall. Give them time to regroup.
Shaming someone does NOT accomplish anything. Did it work when they shamed us as smokers? Oh hell no! Just made me angry and I smoked more.

Maybe shame was the wrong word. I just want everyone to fight. And fight hard.

I know

We do have to chose our words wisely :)

It hurts my heart when I see those I care about lose their will to fight. I do what I can to try and fire that passion up again. It has to be done in a positive way though.

I think DP should tell his story here.

Just the way he told it on FaceBook.

Sorry for throwing you under the bus, DP. I think it will help right now.

Should the deeming regulations take effect in their current form, I suspect those that vaped just for the fun of it will move on to something else, while former smokers will hold on to what works for them. Durable, juice conserving setups are pretty important for the long haul ex-smoker in an era of limited availability and higher liquid prices.

Although there may be a few who can only keep off cigarettes with 100+ wattage setups, just as there may be a few who need 50+mg liquid, these are pretty irrelevant options for most all people who want to keep off the smokes.

The wattage wars, big clouds and constantly chasing the new shiny will be irrelevant should things get tight. We former smokers sure got picky about we required when in reality stopping smoking was the only point. This is a good time to reevaluate what are "wants" versus "needs".

"Just get a ProVari" may be the best advice ever passed on in this forum!
