Thanks for the kind wishes everyone. I didn't sleep well last night (I now understand why people are often given sedatives after the loss of a loved one). Today we have to go clean out his room, something I'm dreading. I've visited that room multiple times each week for 3 years now and every Sunday, Charlie and I would go take him some special treat we knew he'd enjoy (Sushi, Barbecue, Steamed Shrimp, etc.) and coffee from Starbucks and spend a few hours with him. Seems surreal we'll never do that again.

I am grateful he gave me life, for without him, I would have never had the great fortune to meet all of you. And I now I hope he is at peace and pain free.

Thanks again everyone

Well, we went to the nursing home and packed up all his stuff. I found it odd, somewhat liberating and cathartic all at the same time. There really wasn't anything we wanted to keep, so we donated everything he had to the nursing home for residents not as fortunate as he was.

I needed something to take my mind off the last day after we left, so we went appliance shopping for the new house. We found what we want, now we just need our condo to sell.

I'm taking tomorrow off from work and we'll stop by the nursing home and take them a cake to thank them for all the love and care they gave my father during his three year stay there.

I hope you all have had a much less eventful weekend than we have.........

Funny Kafun story, yesterday I was feeling nostalgic so I visited the shop where this journey began for me. Well, the shop has changed hands, there was a nice young feller working the counter and we had a nice conversation, he seemed pretty up on what's going down and all, and told me they plan on starting a private club down the road. I'll leave it at that on that subject;) Well they didn't have the juice I wanted to get while there, but they did have a big box on the counter of grab bag 10$ each items. We had some fun digging through and checking out the atties that were in there, some pretty weird ones where you push down on the 510 and there is a spring inside and somehow they dispense some juice down to the wick  no thanks...but then there was this Kafun, looked pretty good, all metal rings, no box. I took it all apart and everything was there so I grabbed it.

Well, I tried to test the draw and...nothing, no air, it was sealed tight as a drum. Upon inspection the center post had never been drilled through, a missed step in production  No wonder only ten bucks! I did get the correct part ordered from Fat Daddy and that attie should do pretty good for an 18$ kAFUN :vapor:

@Vape360 I been contacting legislators, media, basically anyone I can think of. You might appreciate what I wrote today.

(Repost from another thread)

I sent an email to Sen. Ron Johnson thanking him for his letter to the FDA. I also submitted the following message to the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs. (I purposely focused on the job angle.)

Dear Senators,

I applaud Sen. Johnson's letter to the FDA regarding the deeming regulations of tobacco products and urge all of you to question if the FDA's egregious overstep is really in the public's best interest.

When congress gave the FDA authority to regulate tobacco I'm sure they did not envision that authority would extend to creating a Catch-22 PMTA system that would shut down thousands of small businesses and put hundreds of thousands of citizens out of jobs. Under the regulations anything even remotely connected to vaping can be deemed a "tobacco product," even if it contains no tobacco, or, in fact, any organic material. It's like deeming a glass an alcohol product because there is wine in it.

America needs jobs. America needs to support small businesses in their efforts to innovate. An application system so expensive and so complex that only Big Tobacco companies have the funds to try to be approved ("try" as in there is no guarantee even they will be successful) is detrimental to our economy.

I know you are all busy and it may be too much to ask, but I beg at least one of you to watch this video about ProVape, the largest US manufacturer of vaping hardware devices. That's right, "Hardware." They make steel battery tubes and boxes, that contain no plant matter whatsoever. Despite that, according to the regulations they are a tobacco product manufacturer. ProVape has worked very hard to become the type of small business America should be proud of, but now they can't afford to stay in business:

I'm a 57-year-old constituent who has voted in every election since I was 18. I am also an ex-smoker. After 40 years of smoking, I have been tobacco free for almost 4 years by vaping. I will vote for candidates who support tobacco harm reduction, not for those who would block a path to health for millions of people in a misguided attempt to "Protect the Children."

Thank you in advance for having common sense.

Repost:

FDA focuses on young LGBT smokers with $35.7M campaign

"A key reason for high tobacco use among this group of young adults is the real and perceived social stigma, discrimination and anxiety they experience when they 'come out,' the FDA stated."

These are just a couple of the ads. I'd like to see a survey next year on how many young LGBT smokers were influenced enough by this campaign to quit.

It seems to me that the $35.7M would have been better spent directly addressing the real and perceived social stigma, discrimination and anxiety.

They have totally lost their minds from the enormous amount of funds at their disposal...
