You know what…I'm out of here. This type of post is truly offensive to me and this is not your first inappropriate post. Yes, you have the right to post anything you want within ECF's rules but that doesn't make it ok…and I, for one, don't want to be subjected to them.

@ENAUD thank you for your response to his/her post.

Bye.
Bea, I see no reason why you should punish yourself for the comments of others. One, I suspect CG will clean it up going forward. Two, if he doesn't we'll be sure to get it cleaned up. Your participation on this thread is a positive contribution. There is no reason why you or the rest of us should be denied for the actions of others.

Don't go @Bea-FL.
Don't go @coldgin96. Not that I think you were.
Let's all just ignore individual posts which may bother us, and appreciate the whole.
After all, the forum and its threads mean more than one comment or one member.

He's had a hard time with those critters, for reasons only the gods know.

I know I really don't say a lot here, or anywhere really, but I do read everyone's posts and I understand needing to get away, but you will be missed. Just so you know you make a difference I still remember one night a long time ago you posted a pic of Garfield in his bed and that just really touched me because I always loved Garfield when I was a kid. Good night and good luck, but I hope not goodbye...

I agree 100% and don’t want either of you to go!! Just found out my mom has stage 4 throat cancer and reading this forum everyday helps me get a break from my thoughts/stress. I guess it’s easy for me to overlook a post but I realize everyone is different.

Please, no comments on my mom or the situation. I’m staying strong! Kind comments will make me break down, I know you all care and are supporting me in your silence!!!

Nah Bea, don't leave, if nothing else, put this person on ignore.

@Bea-FL, there is a lot of agreement with the thoughts of @Bronze, give leaving a second thought.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Much appreciated.

But here is the thing. This person's attitude offends me deeply. For most of my adult life I was a licensed wild bird rehabilitator and had to deal with such behavior and actions from people who didn't recognize or care that wild animals came first and deserve their place on earth. That we, humans, moved in on their turf and that, as @Bronze said, we should learn to live with them.

We build our homes in their woods, their fields, we take away their food and shelter sources and are angry when they try to make a living wherever they can manage to fit. I often used this analogy when trying to educate: "Imagine that someone moves into your property and tries to evict you. Do you go quietly? Of course not. You try to take your home back."

Not only killing animals but proudly displaying the results and even worse, ...... on them, shows a serious lack of humanity. It also shows disrespect for the members of this thread. BTW, you can find information about wildlife on my FB page - same avatar, same first name.

I may return sometime but for now I'd like to share this quote…
"The question is whether any civilization can wage relentless war on [wild]life without destroying itself, and without losing the right to be called civilized.” Rachel Carson

@Bea-FL , I totally understand your response. I think everyone has their approach to wild animals. Some of them can be quite disruptive. To be honest, I feel no "upset" at killing a brown recluse (after it bit me, I might add) and I know there are spider lovers who may have ushered the critter outside. I'm not at that point.

I agree that the latter comments are unpleasant, and unnecessary, but there are critters that are a menace. When they occur, the husband and I take care of them.... But, only if it's a necessity, meaning that they are invading our house, and we can't get it to stop. We had termite damage when we bought the house (almost endemic to Tucson) so we used an exterminator, etc.

I can understand loving critters, and still needing to make sure that my living environment is safe. Etc. I can't have a packrat continually gnawing on the underside of my house, even as I hold a sort of grudging admiration for it. When we can, we use barrier methods. With some animals beasts etc., that isn't possible.

But, I respect your love of animals and I do let critters be when able. I'll run off coyotes (because I can) rather than shoot them. My bunnies are my favorite critters, they do 0 damage around here, and they're totally adorable to watch and make me happy each and every day. Etc.

But, I do understand where you are coming from and I hope that you stay. You should. And we should all be more sensitive. I'd agree that even if the animal required dispatch, the gloating is unnecessary.

I never kill animals unless I intend to eat them (fish). I see no point in it. Neighbors give me crap when I capture and release snakes (esp the copperheads) that slither around my house from time to time. Killing the snake will do ZERO to eliminate or even lessen the snake problem. Repeat: ZERO! If I kill the copperhead it just makes room for another one to take its place. Instead, I capture them and walk them way back in the woods and release them. They also keep the rodent population in check and the hawks also get snake for a delicious meal. The predator animals and the habitat will determine the various population levels and do a much better job than I could ever do.

One year the rabbit population is huge, then the foxes get to the birds and bees stuff and we have a glut of fox and the rabbits seem to disappear. I do my part by putting owl houses in out of the way places and kestrel houses around. Population control, night and day.

I notice that too. Populations of various animals are always fluctuating.

You know, I can imagine there is nothing in the world that doesn't offend someone somewhere.

I prefer to look at it as we have different opinions.

And how boring it would be if we didn't.
The difference these days is what lengths people are willing to go to when they are offended.
