I don't vape at red lights or in front of cop cars. My brother-in-law is a cop who vapes, and he has told me to be cautious if I don't want to get pulled over. No reason to be rude to officers if you do get pulled over, either. The general public does not see a mod and think "electronic cigarette." Kindness also goes a long way when it comes to dealing with law enforcement. They have a dangerous and necessary job, even if they can be rude/macho at times.

When I see an LEO, I intentionally imitate Mt. Vesuvius. If they ever ask, I'll educate. Oh, BTW, I'm retired and have da time to hold 'classes'.

Same here. I figure me donating my time to educate saves someone else the hassle. But darn it, none of them ever bite. I guess they are more popular in my neck of the woods, so the LEO's are familiar with them.

The only time I've had an officer ask me questions about my Lavatube clone and Phiniac tank was when they were wondering where they could order a custom glass tank like that for their brother. :)

However, I -did- have the manager of a local bar the other night insinuating I was doing something nefarious out on the patio while sipping my beer. I sort of shrugged it off... because three of the employees there have now asked all sorts of curious questions about ecigs so they can help their (insert family member or friend here) out with quitting. :)

@@@ i also agree with cowdog 100%, i really don't want to have my day interrupted for anything other than my wife or kids calling me, or work. I don't have time to be late for work, and explain why my device is not for illegal purposes and contest why i shouldn't go to jail right then and there and have my car towed.
Sorry, but it had to be done!

Had to go to court on a BS speeding ticket (5mph over...that another story) and had to go through the metal detectors. I set my e-cig in it's case in the little tray with everyhing else, set it on the conveyor and walked through the gate. Got to the other side and there was a sheriff's deputy waiting on me wanting to know what this thing (my e-cig) was. I told him what it was and he looked at me silent for a few seconds, sniffed it then handed it to me. I swear he was itching to break out the cuffs.

I'm sorry, I don't feel the same respect as you. Yes, they do have a dangerous job, but they also tend to put themselves into positions to create this danger!
I've had three cops show up, beat on my garage door as I was working on a car, then invite themselves in and threaten to take me to jail for disorderly conduct in my own, attached, garage! Two of them didn't step into my garage, the one that was the problem I told to f-off. After conversing with the other officers they all opted to leave. They came on a noise complaint, there is no noise ordnance in our town and I called his bluff.
I've had more altercations with cops than I care to count, they aren't smart, they don't know the law, have no desire to learn it, are taught to NEVER answer no in any situation when questioned, and the majority are bullies with badges.
I've been told numerous times I'd get in trouble for answering my own door with a gun in my hand after a certain time even though KS falls under "castle law", but most officers don't understand "castle law". I am more familiar with gun laws in my town, county, and surrounding areas then the cops! This sickens me!
Then to have to deal with their ignorance over an e-cig? No, I vape as I want, where it's allowed and if I'm sitting at a red light, at home in the open, where ever and some ignorant cop wants to make a scene because they are ignorant of it, let it be!
I've dealt with too many ignorant LEO's over ignorance on their part! I don't play well with them! Play nice, I'm nice, but get an attitude right off the bat, you get the same in return from me! They just think they know the law, I've got nothing but time to learn it! And no, I've never been arrested, I'm sure my day will come, and I'm sure it will get overturned when the law is actually explained to them!

I switched from using a syringe to the needle tip bottles to fill my tanks and cartos primarily because I was concerned that IF I got pulled over or someone seen me filling my tank using a syringe, it might cause way too much explaining to police. I can see some questions as to why I had a syringe on my passenger seat or lunch box.

because of my line of work I'm always going to different companies to work on their ac unit. I've been more concerned about leavening or dropping my PV in a office or factory and someone calling the bomb squad or some other over reactions.

Same here ... except for the retired part! I have not been pulled over yet but I do tend to vape a bit more when police are around. When I'm out walking around town I usually get someone asking me questions. I answer to the best of my ability, give them my quitting story and Always hand them my business card and let them know to email me if they want any information or a GREAT forum so they can edumacate ;) themselves. I feel sorry for the first cop that pulls me over for vaping though.

I've always been kind of worried about vaping and being pulled. I've since relaxed, I was at a stoplight the other day and I was vaping away. An older man pulled up next to me and I show him vaping away. I can definitely see someone calling 911 and reporting a vaper for smoking something and the person getting pulled over.

I just recently went back to school after a twelve year hiatus. There are cops all over campus, and I vape in front of them all time. Until recently, I've been using my Twist with a carto tank on it. Now that I have my Vamo, that's the PV I use. Give it just a little more time. Information gets shared between police departments all across the country. They'll start to figure it out.

1) Act suspicious, you'll grab their attention.
2) You're not doing anything illegal. I guess if a cop decided to cite you for using an ecig in a non-smoking area, you could fight it (not sure how easily that would work). I certainly wouldn't make a scene at the time of the citation writing. If a cop hands you a ticket, just suck it up and either pay it or, if you feel you can pull it off, challenge it in court.
3) If they do pull you over, or stop you on the street, remember, you've nothing on you that is illegal. What you're doing (vaping) isn't illegal.

Ever watch Cops? What's the first thing they ask punks who run? "Why did you run?!" They almost always answer, "Because I was scared!" And the cops always reply, "We're the cops. If you didn't do anything wrong, why did you run? You don't see innocent people running away at the first sight of a cop."

What I mean is, you could walk right past a beat cop on a sidewalk, vaping away, and he could think several things: this guy is either really dumb for doing blank in front of me, or, that guy isn't acting scared or suspcious at all, but I think I'll stop him just to be safe, or, hey that's one of them fancy dancy new ecig thingamabobs.

Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if they asked you if it really worked and where to get one.

I work with a cop at my restaurant job, and he's seen everything, from a 808, to egos, to Provaris, Darwins, Zmax's, and Vamos. He even called me a few days ago asking if it'd be worth it for him to check it out (he's mostly a dipper).

You should ALWAYS run from cops.
