Hi all, just had a quick question in regards to chain-vaping and actually putting your ecig down after feeling satisfied. It's a feeling I got with cigarettes, but don't always get with vaping. I will usually just vape constantly throughout the day, I enjoy it, but I don't get that same satisfaction I got with a cigarette. I've tried going up in mg and that does help a bit, but I still find myself picking it up again way quicker than I'd reach for another cigarette.
I realise many people will say 'hey if it stops you smoking a cigarette then chain-vape all day', but I'd rather feel satisfied enough to put my vape down for a good while before picking it up again! I'm thinking about getting some e-liquid that very closely mimics the taste of a burning cigarette as I've heard a lot of people say this helps with getting them to put it down. Anyone else have any similar experience with this chain-vaping issue? And were there any steps you took that helped you stop doing it?

I find myself in a pattern of 3-5 pulls chain vaping then I can let it sit for a while. I am not convinced it is nic related, really not sure what it is. Earlier this year I went to Subtank Minis and lowered my nic to 3mg. I am now about to start DIYing and will probably start out at 2mg nic. I think it may be a combination of nic dependency and nervous habit for me.

For me, getting the same satisfaction from vaping as I did with smoking was simply adjusting the way I vaped. A higher powered device. For me, I vaped for months on the 20 watt Eleaf istick after switching from the Evod pens -- and that was satisfying enough for me to stay off the cigarettes. Then I went sub ohm, and the rest is history from there. I went from Evod pen to 150 watt sigelei temp control in less than a year, but everyone has a different way to do things and a different pace on their vape journey, so to speak. Not sure what you're using but I just noticed you've been vaping much longer than I have, so it looks as though you've hit a plateau with your device and need to shake things up a bit?

Simple adjustments are what I was getting at. Switching to a higher powered device, if possible and if you desire. Upping the wattage for more throat hit, as opposed to more nic. Drip tips designed for lung-hitters as opposed to small-bore tips will increase your draw and possibly fill that void so you can put your vape down once in a while.

I also found that certain flavours were a little off putting -- for me, it's anything that's overly sweet. I would get sick of the flavour and put it down, only to find that I still wanted to vape, I wasn't finished yet. Anyway I hope some of that helped, I think we all know that struggle. Good luck to you. :)

Yeh flavoring was a big turn off for me after vaping half my tank..i still wanted to vape but quickly got sick of the flavor and didn't want to pick it up...instead it caused me to pick up a cig and be a dual user for awhile. After awhile it didn't matter if i had several tanks with different flavors..they all started tasting the same and leaving the same nasty cotton candy aftertaste in my mouth.

Sometimes a NET will help scratch that itch for an actual tobacco cig.
Even after three years of vaping, I've only got that 'satisfaction' a few times. I can say that I no longer 'crave' nicotine. I do forget to vape when I get really busy.

When just sitting and not doing any busy work with my hands, yeah, I vape more.

TheBigPicture, I did join this forum a while back after picking up an Ego-T kit, at that time I was looking to actually quit nicotine completely and the Ego-T really helped me with the transition, problem is I would still smoke when drunk so that didn't last too long. I'm now primarily using an iJust 2 or Coolfire IV with a Silo Beast tank (a tank I can't recommend enough!) and it's really helped me to stay off the cigs (while sober anyway), but I still find myself picking it up throughout the day when I'm relaxing at home.

I guess it could be like Robino1 said. I'm generally someone who gets a bit restless anyway so sitting around watching YouTube videos with a vape nearby is a recipe for chain-vaping. Maybe it'll just be a case of getting used to it after a while. Even when I was smoking I'd smoke roll-ups and find myself smoking about 25 cigarettes a day!

I have considered the whole tobacco alkoloids but the risk factor seems a little higher when compared to normal e-liquid and I want to try and avoid that if possible! I guess it'll probably be a case of finding an e-liquid I don't actually want to chain vape, right now I'm vaping Colonel Boom's Comino and the taste is awesome, probably quite counter-productive haha

Been vaping for a little more than 4 years now. It wasn't until this year, that I found myself not chain vaping the way I used to early on. The first year, yeah, I was a chain vaping fiend. This year, though, I find myself chain vaping a whole lot less. In fact, I find myself vaping less these past few months. I still enjoy it, but I almost feel I'm getting close to being able to put down the vape gear for good.

After moving away from pen like devices and Nautilus tanks I've decided I like lots of air flow or unrestricted draw. However I also found that I have a mechanical addiction to the act of smoking/vaping to contend with. I found that if I chain vape with 9-12mg I'm not satisfied but if I only use 18mg I'll slowly OD myself.

My solution is to have two mods, tanks and MG levels queued up. I can puff all I want on 6-12mg and then every so often I get a 'urge' for a analog, take a few draws on the higher MG setup. This seems to work for me.

Then again my analog habit had me reaching for another one every 15-30min (and sometimes almost constant). I could sometimes last 1-2hrs if I was busy at something but always could feel the negative effects which would amplify the longer I went without.

I vape when I want to, always have.

I have a vape in the morning with my hot chocolate. I may take a few puffs during the afternoon. Then at night while winding down vape a mL or two watching a movie.

I also run about 10 miles a day, go kayaking, mountain biking and camping quite often and never bring vape gear.

    I vape 17 mg/mL, 1% flavored, 66/33 pg/vg.

Good luck to all who is trying to quit smoking. It's not a easy task. I quit over 10 years, after being a 12 year smoker, cold turkey and after many failures. Through the years, I grew the love of cigars as a hobby, which I still enjoy. Now I started to vape as a hobby as welk. With that said, there is no replacement to smoking cigarettes. The nicotine isnt all to blame for the addiction factor. Those blood sucking companies put more then 100 chemical in a cig. Ones thst makes you fiend like your ready for another hit of {other stuff}, but of course not as servere. Which I think it's worst, having a little tick that hit u every so often and telling u '' u need a cig''. when u wake up, when u finsh eating, after sex or whatever. Even after all these years I still think about smoking a cig once in a while. But I never will. But It does get better and easier. Good luck again.
