PV users: Does diacetyl disclosure affect your choice of E-liquid vendor

Does disclosure about diacetyl content affect your choice of e-liquid and e-liquid vendor

  • I'll buy only from a vendor offering full disclosure. And I'll vape diacetyl free liquid only.

  • I feel safer buying from a vendor with full disclosure. But I 'd vape diacetyl containing liquid.

  • I don't feel diacetyl affects PV safety significantly. So I don't care if my vendor discloses this.

  • I don't know what the heck diacetyl is.

Would be nice for vendors to know what customers think and do.

And would be nice to know what fellow PV users think.

This not a discussion about diacetyl. It is only a poll to read into how PV users think about this issue and whether it is affecting their buying trends.

Vote and add your comment or bump.

Edit
Full disclosure = does the vendor use diacetly containing flavorings + which mixes + at what levels

I will use a vendor that uses diacetyl and is upfront and honest about it being in their juices and lets me know what juices contain it.
I will not use vendor that knowingly uses diacetyl and does not inform customers of it being in juices.

I prefer using vendors that do not use it at all.

Sorry, it's not a simple yes or no, but it's how I feel.

I didn't know about diacetyl until recently (thanks to the wonderful people who have taken it upon themselves to get the issue out on this forum). I've talked to my supplier and he assures me that he uses no products containing it. I have a nice friendly relationship with him and I will continue to buy all of my liquids there unless I find out that he's been dishonest. At this point I have no reason to doubt him. I believe trust is an important thing when it comes to the products we are inhaling. So, in answer to the OP's question, yes, it plays a huge role in who I use as my supplier of liquid.

I currently vape juice only from vendors, like Johnson Creek, Halo, and Backwoods Brew, who have publicly stated that they don't use diacetyl. But they don't provide full disclosure about the total chemical makeup of their juices, so I still really don't know what I'm putting into my lungs. I would prefer to buy only from vendors who provide FULL disclosure, but that doesn't seem to be happening anywhere, yet.

Voted that I want full disclosure and I'd vape diacetyl containing liquid. That doesn't mean I'd vape anything laden with the stuff. I mean if there was full disclosure (including amounts) and there are traces I would not be overly concerned by it. Like someone said elsewhere, its not like you fall down and die when you walk past a buttered popcorn stand, or if you fry something using butter. I would avoid buttery flavours.

cool
same here.
would sample a good flavor even if it has diacetyl. But, I want my everyday vapes to be diacetyl free. And of course I want full disclosure about diacetyl and all the other stuff that goes into my liquid.

Thanks for the poll. I don't think it's accurate since no vendor currently has full disclosure and none of the choices are valid. The big issue right now is pushing for vendors to fully disclose the chemicals being used in their juice. I think the following options would have been better:

I think suppliers need to fully disclose
I don't think vendors should fully disclose
I don't care

It's a start though. Thanks.

what was meant by full disclosure is disclosure of diacetyl content (does the vendor use it, in which mixes and at what levels). Hope this clears the confusion. should've clarified it more.
Disclosure of all chemical constituents would be the best in a typical world. But this is not what was meant here. Anyway it's still virtually nonexistant. Most vendors don't know what chemicals go in their juice. Even if they did, they'll need to confirm it by expensive lab analysis before they can publish it. This is still a far cry from the current reality.

Agreed, thank you. I think options #1 & #2 would basically mean the same thing...that members want full disclosure. The total number of those votes compared to the number of votes in option #3 may give us a clearer picture. I voted for option #1 but am not 100% sure if my juices are Diacetyl free. I only know what the suppliers tell me and trust them since that is the bast we have at the present time.

I want full disclosure, but that won't stop me from vaping if a vendor uses it in a mix. I've started DIY juice and Dan's calculator has a pretty extensive list of the manufacturers and the flavors they sell. The list also has a User Safety column, so you can choose a manufacturer, then look at a flavor and it will tell you if it contains diacetyl or if it's oil based or has artificial coloring. If a flavor I want to use has diacetyl, then I will find a like flavor from another manufacturer. So far, I have not had any problems with finding suitable flavors that are safe to use.

True. I split that into two options to show how many people want disclosure but will still use diacetyl containing juice. So if a vendor decides doing exactly that, these are the customers that will stay with him.
When the poll is over, we can play with numbers and draw conclusions.

I voted #1, although I'm not sure of your definition of "full disclosure" .... but I check that the vendor claims diacetyl-free juices. Not that that's a guarantee.........
Yes. Word of mouth won't be enough. But I can't even imagine a vendor lying about this. They'd be setting themselves for trouble.
