I don't see this forum being as "hard core" as others I frequent. IMO, it's a bit more 'community' oriented. There are threads in the modder's section that are all tech-all the time.

Until i got to the bottom of Kwalka's 2nd post on the topic, I was ready to assign him to the D-bag/...... category, but remembered that humor doesn't always translate well via text communication.

yea....he fits in quite nicely huh?

Uh-oh, I'm having mixed emotions regarding your post kwalka! I believe that I'm the resident IT guy that you speak of and are glad to see here now, but I think I might also be the guy who started the kissy-face stuff that you're ranting about when I said goodnight and that I was going to bed last night. :) :( :) :( :) :(

I would actually like to apologize for that as I know better. All of the cell phone "hacking" forums (XDA especially) that I frequent would have flamed the heck out of all of us involved within about 3 posts for getting that far off topic, but it does seem like that kind of thing is somewhat OK here, especially if there's nothing relevant to the OP to discuss while we all wait for the mailman.

JUST A JOKE -> Perhaps we should start a Kissy-Face ECF Group for those types of late-night conversations? :)

You are indeed said resident IT guy... As far as the whole KF thing(I'm not even comfortable spelling it out anymore, its the whole "big guy carpenter thing") I do not hold you responsible for a simple sign off such as"good night". Thats acceptable in my book. Its just when it ends up being 2 pages of, um, well, oh you know what I mean.
I am a bit disappointed that nobody has referenced the "goodnight Johnboy, goodnight momma" statement yet. I thought for sure that would of drawn some response. Does anybody recognize that phrase or remember what show its from?

Don't be disappointed. We knew it was The Waltons & accepted it as a normal conversational referent.

I wish I had been checking the thread when you guys were suggesting USB adapters! Mine's way cheaper than the ones y'all posted about. Hopefully this'll help folks who haven't bought one yet!

Amazon.com: Kaito PST-15U Universal Wall to USB Dual Charger, White: MP3 Players & Accessories

It works perfectly :)

There's a way you can check to see what kind of voltage your computer USB ports put out. On Windows (sorry, don't know about Macs) go to your control panel and look for 'device Manager' under the hardware section. Find the place where it says Universal Serial Bus Controllers and expand it. Find the selection that says 'USB Root Hub' and right click that then choose Properties. In the power tab, it'll say what mA it puts out. All of mine are 500 and that's standard for most computers and laptops out there. You might as well assume that yours does, too. I'm not 100% sure if this is the best way to find it out and I don't know if it works the same on computers that aren't Windows 7, sorry!

Anyway, it's better safe than sorry when it comes to this stuff. Computers are way too expensive to take the risk, IMO.

Kwalka, I realize that we're not to take your comments too seriously :p I just had to post this!

Personally, I take offence when anyone makes reference to me as an IT guy... IT guy's haven't a clue what port or IRQ a printer or serial port is suppose to be on from my experience... :D A Computer tech on the other hand ( and I'm not refering to most of the Geek squad types ) should know the basic hardware info.

Trying to use a USB port on a computer is sort of like gambling... the default standard for the most common USB (v1 or v2 ) is only rated for 5v and 500mah so it shouldn't suprise people ( but it does ) when these aren't working properly when being used for applications that require more current than that. There has been several references to only certain USB ports being able to support the higher current needs but these references only apply to newer motherboards ( perhaps in the last year or two ) and then only if the manufactorer wasn't trying to cut corners to get the production costs down.

Trying to use a higher current drain device on a computer port that you don't know will handle the load, is risky. Purchasing an additional 120v to USB power supply that can supply 1+mah is the way to go if you are going to use a pass through PV.

:p

Thanks Bonny! I didn't remember that tip. All my USB 2.0 ports are 500mAh. Even the ones built in to my Dell monitor. :(
Good thing I have my HTC AC-USB wall wart. :)

OK, I don't own a Rocket, but all of the digital display VV devices that I know of (meaning ones that have a display and buttons for adjustment and not a pot for adjustment) automatically reset back to 3.0v when the battery is disconnected, so either the batteries are losing contact or as you said the circuit is resetting due to some other problem.)

Yep, that is it. This is exactly what mine was doing when I couldn't get it to work. It would come on and show 3.0, then do nothing. I had to stretch out the spring so that it would get a better contact on whatever end, and then it started working.

Brilliant idea, the only caveat being that my PC has six USB ports, four of which are 2.0 and the other two being 3.0, and in Device Manager all 6 show as 500mA even though I know for a fact that my two 3.0 ports are 900mA. Most likely a Windows issue that it isn't showing them properly. Damn I really need to find and dig out my multimeter!

I have been using the scorpion tanks almost exclusively since I got the on 7/5.

The one with Creamy Sicle has developed a hairline crack at the top. Much like the cracks we see on the early stardusts.

I am quite happy with the flavor and vapor production.

I am running them at 4.2v on my eGo C Twist.

vBulletin (I believe that's the software ECF is running on) should add an option to flag your reply as OT (off-topic), and then add a view option to not show them or quoted replies to them in your view.

<PG is Offline and is at the Patent Office>
If that was at me it went right over my head.

Thanks for taking The Waltons for granted, I feel much better.

The Scorpion I first loaded on 6/20, and have been running various mints through, developed a hairline crack at the bottom yesterday (just like my v1 & v2 stardusts did). So, 17 days to 1st crack (all on my 3.7v box mod). A bit of ProWeld sealed it right up. :D

Ahh, see I'm not the IT guy  Useful info. Is there a way to check it accurately without needing some sort of external device?

Green apple put cracks in both of mine in one day. I had filled one and found that I got dry hits, so I transferred the juice to the 2nd one. Apple flavored juice is pretty harsh on tanks from my experience as well as what others have said. Not all tanks, but it has to do with the plastic. I'm sure you know about that, though.

KiKi Update:

Went out for a late run to the border (TB) and on way out to car I heard a mewing and turned around and there she was on the sidewalk leading up to my porch, nor worse for wear. :)

Thanks for all the well wishes, KiKi was touched.

We had a long talk and KiKi said no more waiting two weeks to clean out the litter box, I said ' fair 'nuff". Then she pushed her luck and asked for Tuna every other day...told her I'd get back to her on that.

I'm so glad to hear that! Did you not hear her when she added "drop an alpha product every day" as a condition? :vapor:
