Initial impressions:
ALPHA - APOLLO E2 6ml TANK Replaceable Tank & Stem/Coil GREEN [gv-ALPHAApolloTank-GREEN] - $4.25 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

(Hi all! First time out, so be kind..)

Procedural:

I got the 6ml and 10ml versions. I read earlier that they leak like a sieve, but didn't read much more than that to avoid biasing my evaluation. Both were assembled very loosely as described earlier, but I didn't need any toaster-oven tricks. Just disassemble the bottom, loosen and crank down on the atty post (by hand, but you'll probably want pliers wrapped in a towel) and give it a small fill. (Initially just to the bottom of the clear, to check for leaks.)

They held, so I filled them to the top of the clear on the 6ml and 1/2 up the clear on the 10ml.

I used juices that I've been vaping already, to rule out any weird flavors/etc. The 6ml got pinkspot 'frozen lime drop' - a fairly thin juice that flows well but is somewhat sensitive to burning. The 10ml got MFS reeces cup - thicker juice (85PG/15VG) that isn't sensitive to overheating but does change flavor dramatically at different wattages.

I didn't do any wick trimming or unbraiding (or other mods) in order to evaluate the 'normal user' perspective.

6ml:
The 6ml is definitely a nice device. It draws cleanly (although a little airy for me) and doesn't provide a lot of burned/dry hits. The atty reads between 2.1 and 1.9 on all my testers (imotion, evic, multimeter.) Flavor is good after the first few hits, and it has been consistent through the morning's use. Tightening/loosening would be a lot easier if the twist rings had a rougher grip, but its not impossible.

10ml:
The 10ml has more issues overall, but it does look better - more tank showing, proportionately less of the caps. The atty readings are all over the map - initially the imotion read it at 6+ ohms, and my multimeter jumps around between 2.8 and 3.5. Even after it settled out, the evic can't decide whether it is 2.2, 2.8 or 3.3. It doesn't feed the 85/15 juice very well at all, and provides a lot of dry/burned hits even when rolling it before/during a pull. It also gets a lot more leaking under the drip tip (even when held upright during a hit) to the point where I am considering putting some batting in to filter it out.

Both units:
They both leak juice into the drip tip, although the 10ml is much worse. (6ml gives 'splashes' of juice. 10ml gives entire sips..) After a morning's use, they are both showing leaks under the atty connector as well. The atty ratings are out of whack - they are listed as 2.4-2.8, but the actual readings are around 3.5 (10ml) and 2.0 (6ml).

Aesthetically, they are good looking devices. The 10ml looks a little better because there is a nice balance between the clear and the metal - on the 6, there is much more metal and the tube looks more like a viewglass than a tank. The colors are vivid and shiny, somewhat futuristic in combination with the sloping shoulders. They are easy to fill (no needles required) and are tall and narrow, so they fit the look of the evic and imotion pretty well.

Summary:
tl;dr

If the leaks (top and bottom) can be resolved and the atty quality control can be improved (3.5 should be well out of spec) they would make a nice addition to your collection. They look good, and the angle on the shoulders adds to the 'neat' appearance. For thin juices, they feed well (although I suspect the 10ml will need a lot more rolling to keep feeding cleanly, even with a thinner juice.) I don't have any 50/50 juices, but my suspicion is that they just won't work..

ETA: Don't think I'm going to give these a more in-depth look soon, the leaking went from mild to bad to puddles.. I've got some juices to review later this week though :)

The very first taste of the alpha chocolate (dripped into a generic bridgeless) tasted like swiss miss hot cocoa mix smells. The first taste of the cherry blew my head off with TH, but it might have been turned up too high. (I had it on the imotion and didn't look at the voltage before I hit go.. I'll give it another quick taste later today.)

Once my VVV tanks arrive (tues/wed probably) I'll give them a better taste. (Everyone swears by dripping but personally I get the flavors better from cartotanks and clearos.)

My initial taste of the chocolate does match with everyone else's - it isn't an "eating chocolate" flavor, it is a smelling chocolate flavor.. If it stays the same in the tank, it could definitely be a decent addition.

Even with the E2 tanks being a leaky miss, this is fun :)

I have to agree with previews reviews of the Cherry juice. Taste is very muted. I would not recommend or use myself this one. Changes in voltage made no difference, just a blah taste of very faint cherry.

Been using the cherry all day and it isn't bad, as such, but it is very muted. I think the chapstick comment someone made is closest to what I am getting from it. I don't hate it, but if I got it in a sampler I wouldn't buy it. Once I give a proper test of the chocolate I may mix them and see what happens, but I don't have high hopes for it getting better.

An extra-flavor version (with the same amount of sweet, no extra) might be decent. (Or it might be cough-drop..)

It is so faded tasting that my first thought was that I was having a weird taste day, but everything else tastes fine and it is too close to what others have described..

ETA: decent/large plumes of vapor, lots of TH (might be partly the nicotine, I usually get 12, or max of 16.) Really easy to overheat and TH starts to punch like a mule. Tasted at 5-5.5W in a drip atty and a GV BCC tank, tested up to 7.5W but ouch.. (Dripped on an evic and imotion, bcc on evic only)

ETA2:
Chocolate tastes kinda like velamints. (Hopefully it doesn't have the same side-effects!) More detailed review tomorrow. Kinda nostalgic, but kinda odd. Nothing like swiss-miss, at least in the BCC.

Popping back in to comment on the Kamry.

Looks like a dressed up VV Ego, while different in appearance it seems to charge like an ego at least. Also on their website it indicates (by logo) that the Kamry is an Auto-Bot and not a Decepticon. This is good news if you're in to Transformers :)

I would like to see voltage range and a little bit more info on these, but it looks like a fun little item to pick up!

So, my wife and I went in to labor 3 weeks early last week. My daughter is one week old to the hour. That's good news.

Bad news, I didn't get a new vv/vw mod before she got here. I had 3 weeks after all, and "your first one never comes early... I was going to get new 18650s with a new mod. Mine are all half dead and the kick doesn't like that.

So, what do we know about release times, because daddy is desperate. Looking at SVD and Kamry, or anything else that is real solid from GV.

I know I'm off topic, but please spare me the BS I have slept very little between the wife and baby. I don't want to deal with the non alpha boards right now.

To the rest of you, please dispense any advice you have.

DrOckW...

First... let me congratulate you on the birth of your daughter...

Currently the Joyetech Evic, Vision Vamo and both Smoktech ZMax's ( regular and mini ) are the ones to be looking at as far as VV / VW goes.

Kamry is a mechanical mod and isn't VV / VW unless you add a Kick. I haven't seen anything about a SVD on GV's forum, FB page or website so I won't comment on it at all here.

My own preference is the Vamo... It accepts both an 18350 or 18650 battery and is very easy to access the functions in it's menu because it uses 3 buttons... The ZMax's ( my fav size being the mini since it can also use extentions and lets you have different battery sizes ) are also very nice but they only have a single button to fire and access the menu settings from. The Evic is being liked by many because of it being software upgradeable but the one down side is its limited current handling capacity compared to the others.

The number of mechanical mods they've already got available is impressive and if those are what you like... look through them closely.

I noticed you mentioned having issues with your mechanical mod's that use a Kick... unless you've messed up the threads, these should last for years with the proper recommended care. They do require that you disassemble them and clean pretty often... so if they aren't firing properly, that is all it is likely to be needing. When I'm using my Legacy ( also an all mechanical mod which I've Kicked ), I try to clean it every couple of weeks or at least monthly to keep it working in tip top shape.

Congrats on the new addition to your family. Eventually, you will start getting sleep again. :)

I'd have to second the Vamo recommendation. I was an early adopter & haven't had a single problem with mine. I use it as much as my ProVari & Kicked EA. I prefer the Sigelei Zmax to Smok's. Performance is the same, but the Sig has an easier to read OLED screen.

Also agree on keeping the contacts clean on your mech mod + Kick. But then again, could just be that your batts toast & everything else is hunky-dory. YMMV...

Good luck!
