I have posted that I only vape where it is permitted to smoke. [...]

Isn't it nice to be able to do that? I.e. vape where YOU want, when YOU want and how YOU want? Without anyone else imposing the location, timing, power, flavor and drip tip based on THEIR preferences?

depends on your definition of nice. My definition of nice includes showing concern for others. Showing no concern for others is not nice it is rude.

I prefer, Lead by Example, rather than Force of Will.

I vape to satisfy my Smoking habit. So yes I treat vaping LIKE smoking. So yes In most regards I respect smoking restrictions when vaping. Do I follow all the rules? {Moderated} no. I do Vape on the beach and in the National Parks. Sometimes in the car, with the grand kids present. I live in a state run by People just dying to ruin the vapeing industry. You don't think California can do it, Just research how they use the EPA. I kinda try to leave a GOOD Example of a Vaper. Maybe buy some time.

So when "the others" open the game by being not only rude, but outright sadistic with you, what's your move?

Let them know their ... is showing and it will get kicked if they keep up messing with me. My martial arts may be rusty but I can still kick ....

A 150 watt mod will not feel nice jammed in their teeth behind my 9.5's.

I am a very nice quiet guy but do not push worth a damn.

I didnt think any of us was arguing, we all was discussing in a rational manner. Someone said earlier it was a train wreck but I have yet to see this thread turn into that. I for one am glad to be a part of this discussion for I am able to see others side of this discussion and I respect their views even if I dont agree with them all. I side totally with Caramel that I too dont want to see vapors treated like smokers like they are lepers or something but my way of dealing with it and his way are not the same. I can respect that.
I also dont want to see any fellow vapors get into a bind from vaping on an airplane which is the reason behind my caution but I am nobodies keeper. We are all adults and are responsible for our own actions.
In my opinion there is only a small handful of people who gives vapors a bad reputation but deciding they are the only ones with rights and cloud chase in public places trying to impress someone. Most of us do our thing and when in public are not doing it to draw attention to ourselves but are doing it because thats what we do. We are more than happy to discuss vaping with anyone who ask but we dont force it on anyone.
To me this has been an awesome discussion and I agree with My Miyagi too, those designated smoking areas reek and are not the place for vaping.

I only meant argument as in I thought we were on opposing sides of a so far very civil discussion :)

I didn't read much of this thread, but for me, I use my own discretion when it comes to vaping. One things for certain, you wouldn't catch me vaping in a grocery store. I vape the same way I smoked, meaning, I won't vape somewhere if I couldnt, nor shouldn't, smoke.

It's like people think vaping should be accepted wherever someone pleases. That's laughable. Vaping is a smoking device, I don't care what anyone says. To the general eye, people see vapor as such.

Better discretion and common sense trumps all.

So this is a hypothetical Question... And I by no means wanna start a flame war.... or anything like that.

I just have a hypothetical for you guys who I have seen claiming they only Vape where they could smoke people. ( I am not taking sides here, as I usually only vape where I can smoke, but make some exceptions that I wont get in to here, as, Again, Not posting to cause trouble.)

I know a lot of users are Western world people but, there are some users that are international as well, such as me.

Lets say you really want a Vape, and your in, (Most common) An international Airport or something on your ridiculously long daytime layover, Or you ended up in the airport really early... or.. we could also say your in an amusement park or something.
Your options.
Vape in places where you cant smoke, such as inside the airport, or in a random place in the amusement park...(Maybe by stealth vaping)
Or go in to the often crowded 1x3 meter (If that), poorly ventalated Smokers room where all the others are smoking, and endure the noxious smell of various types of cigarettes stick to you, as you breath in air that is more toxic than car exhaust.

Not all people have the same conditions. a lot of places have rules that you are not allowed to smoke outside.
Do you still only vape where you can smoke, Thereby nullifying some of the health benefits of Vaping? Or does health play a more important role than the rules and perception.

Again, I am not trying to play a side here, or start a flaming war (Ill probably just ask the thread be deleted if it turns to that)
I am just wondering if your mind would be changed if you lived in a different situation and why?
I have met thousands of vapors and have never met one of these people you speak of. I will not say, 9 times, that I am not trying to start a "flame war" LOLZ.

Hmm... As I said, I want to see vaping normalized. But I don't think I used to smoke in grocery stores. Maybe I have, to be totally honest, I can't remember. I know that now I wouldn't, I don't even need to. I know I smoked in cafes, bars, restaurants, casinos, cinemas, and that was fun (many other things were funnier than what we have now too) as there was a wider sense of freedom then. Banning vaping on beaches or in parks, for instance, is ridiculous. But I think so is banning smoking on beaches or parks, it's out in the open, for Chryssakes! Personally, I think that's part of a totalitarian approach and I'm sorry people have been so formatted they take that as acceptable.

As for vaping aboard airplanes, I've done it. Not because I had to, just a part of my own experiment. Results: at least if you vape just a little and don't fill the cabin with vapour as if it were a Turkish Bath, no one will notice and neither will the alarm. Now that I've conducted my experiment, maybe in two or three different planes, it's done and I don't really need to do it anymore.

I feel that it really just boils down to each person's individual...everything. Attitude, personality, ethics, morals, integrity, upbringing, etc. etc....

A person who is generally speaking, dis-respectful to others will be just that. Vaping indiscriminately wherever and whenever they feel regardless of what anyone else thinks. An ......., yes and makes the rest of us "responsible" and "respectful" vapers look bad in the eyes of the uneducated majority.

We can't control anyone else but ourselves and our own personal integrity will dictate our actions as such. I am a firm believer in "you MUST give respect to get it" and we should all "BE the change WE expect to see" or else we are just another one "those people" who will ruin it for all.

I know for a fact that I feel lucky to have found a safer alternative to smoking analogs and to jeopardize it would be foolish and the only ones that would suffer in the end would be us...

Just my $.02

Here & There
I live in a city that has been smoke free for at least 6 years now. I am used to and most comfortable vaping outside if I am in public. If I have to be indoors for extended periods of time and simply cannot wait or go outside my first instinct would be to go to a restroom and vape there. I would probably do the same thing at an airport.

And we don't litter the beaches and parks with nasty stinky butts, or set fire to the undergrowth.

I vape in the open parks and such. imho any smoking ban in those areas are due to .... litter and fire hazards which do not exist with vaping. I smoked in those areas as well since I always carried out my butts and was very aware of not making a fire hazard. Many smokers just throw their butts anywhere starting fires beside roadways and such. 2 legged dumb butts are everywhere.

I always tried to be a courteous smoker as I do with my vaping.

Well, of course littering the parks and beaches and/or causing fires is definitely not ok. Maybe a better solution could be achieved through education and ashtrays (I'm not saying there wouldn't be any vandals around, there always are)?

A noticeable percentage of smokers will not take one step out of their way to use an ashtray. Again a situation where a smaller percentage mess it up for everyone.
Many smokers who have ashtrays in their vehicles still throw their butts out the window.

I said it 2 times :) But only cuz ive seen many of these threads degenerate in to something silly.

So here it is again.
We dont smoke in public anymore because it is harmful. We are not allowed to vape... because.. why, its harmful? No... Because it looks like smoking.
See my thing now, is that if non smokers have the right to not be subjected to cigarette smoke, than I should have that right as well, as a non smoker. Why Are we Vaping? to save money? No... Ive spent double... To better our health? well, for me that is what it largely is, and That is affected if every time I go to vape when in public... I end up needing to be in a closed quarter room with a bunch of smokers.... cigarettes burning my eyes and the smell sticking to my clothes as thousands of toxins from the 6 or 7 smokers in the room are being breathed in to my lungs. Do I not have a right to health.

Granted, I am not for Blowing a big cloud in public (Although when I first started vaping, I was doing that a little, Not so much, only remember a couple specific times in train stations.
But not for a long time now have i Openly vaped and blown clouds.
But I did sit down in eyeshot of my gate but a good 30 feet away from everyone at the airport and vape, blowing no clouds... maybe tiny wisps of smoke no one could see. Sure I could have gone to the smoke room
And so I posed this question. Where do others rights trump mine. As long as I am discreet, Isnt it fine to do it in places where smoking isnt allowed, if smoking is allowed in small little rooms where my health can negatively be affected? cant I have my rights while not impeding on others?

HAHAHA When I went to canada last year as a smoker, I was confused as to where to put my butts, And a little surprised and uncomfortable to just throw it on the ground... I mean, I just had forgotten how they did that in canada (Even though I lived there before living here in Asia) In Asia, No one would think of just throwing the .... on the open ground... we even carry pocket ashtrays around in our pockets.
