I keep going back and fourth from smoking and I need to quit smoking for good. Basically i’m asking for some advice. I’m 24 and I drive for my job, and am smoking constantly. A pack a day. Sometimes when i’m drinking and doing other things it’s more. Everyone around me smokes, and they’re the type of anti vape that say “ don’t blow that by me “ which makes it harder to vape around them if they makes any sense. I also go out a lot to clubs and bars and don’t want to have to carry extra batteries and juice with me everywhere I go. I have quit before using a vape but for some reason this time is the hardest. Any advice on how to quit and how to not want cigarettes? I usually just want one in the morning and then after that I can vape. I just want go quit fully and just vape. Sorry if this is annoying but I know there is some great people here on ECF so I was just looking for some advice. Thanks.

Get yourself a pod system like the Smok infinix or something you like that is refillable. Get some Aroma unflavoured WTA in 24mg. Its 100%vg so thin it half with pg. You now have 50/50vg/pg in 12mg. Fill that pod and you're doing organic smoking...
It tastes like a cig and it gives the satisfaction almost similar to a cig.

Tell your supposed friends not to blow their smoke at you. What are you doing hanging out with people who don't want you to quit smoking? My friends, even the smokers, support my decision to quit smoking. A real friend would care more about your health than some vapor near them.
You might need to change a few things to quit. Where you hang out and with who. Don't buy anymore cigarettes. If you don't have them you can't smoke them. Find a flavor you really like and vape that first thing in the morning. I'm sure others can recommend some more options for you. Good luck!

First, you are following a very long line of people in the same position. Don't be discouraged.
That first morning smoke is the toughest. As previously mentioned, find the right juice and it will chase away that desire. What is right for you is very personal. If you like that tobacco hit I found Tribeca effective. I have moved on to DIY but you are just starting.
I also found the Aspire Zelos mod an easy carry. No batteries to insert but good internal battery life. Might look at the Endura T22 as well, but you cannot adjust wattage on that one, a steady 14w.

Good luck and hang in there.

I agree, that first one in the morning was the hardest to give up. I made a conscious decision to vape instead of smoke that first one. After a few days, it was a new habit and it became easier over time until I didn't even think about it.

Good juice at the right nic level were the key for me to be successful. I typically carry 2 set ups if I'm going out, making sure the batteries are fully charged before I leave the house. That way I don't worry about carrying extra juice or batteries for the day/night. Two gives me choices of flavor and one acts as a backup to the other. I'm not going to try to suggest what set ups would be best for you. Some like pod systems, some like small, stealthly mods etc. What are you comfortable with?

I also learned to vape around smokers. The best example - my brother and sister in law are smokers, they believe all the worst about vaping. I visited with them and happily vaped while they smoked. We agreed to disagree. I didn't try to convert them to vaping and they realized I wasn't going to change my mind either. After that, they smoked, I vaped and we had some decent conversations while sitting outside.

Best to you!

I have a lot of vapes from before when I quit the first time. I have a smok alien , couple g privs rx200 rx20700 Siegeli kaos, voopoo drag. Have a crown tank, valyrian, crown 3, cleito 120, fireluke mesh. Tfv12 . I have a lot of stuff but I just can’t seem to beat smoking. I’ve found flavors I’ve liked and didn’t smoke for like a week but then I just start smoking again. It’s dumb on my part. I quit for almost a year before with 3 mg nic . Maybe I need to go up to 6 or maybe even higher.

The morning cigarette was the last one I gave up. It took a month while vaping before I didnt have a morning cigarette.
I would have my morning cig and within 5minutes of finishing it I vaped. Gradually I dropped a cigarette a day until all that remained was that one morning cigarette.
Then I just played the game of delaying that cigarette trying to not think too much about it until one night at about 11pm I realized I hadnt had one and just went to bed.
8months later I understand I couldve done it all quicker but at the time I was still holding on to something.
I started out using set ups that were easy to use and required little thought, just fill, push a button and vape and I had a few of them scattered around the house and in the cars. Everywhere I went a fully charged and filled vape was there.

I made a promise to my granddaughter (who was 7 at the time), who looked at me with her sweet big brown eyes, and asked me to please stop, Pop-pop, cause I don't want you to die. I set a date for ten days, and just did not smoke again. That next day, I started vaping.

You, my friend, need to decide to stop being a slave to the smoke. You are stronger than the cigs. Choose when you will have that last one, and make it nasty. Hotbox it! :)

If I had to do it again, I'd have a mod set up for the morning, with something very tobacco and strong. I suggest Halo Torque56 (at maybe 12 or 18mg) The rest of the day, I'd use something a bit milder. Your levels will prolly differ)

And put off that first hit. It might be 5 minutes, then in a few days, 15 minutes. I now can wake, get ready and out to the car before I take the first vape.

And I always have 2 mods with me. Partially for the backup, but mostly to have 2 flavors. I don't think I could ever have one flavor. I'd grow numb to it. And do find a mod/tank that will last you at least 12 hours. Seriously.

When you go out, take a juice that is a bit stronger in nic. (as you might have limited opportunities to hit it.) I have a bottle of strong neutral juice, no flavor, just 30/70 pgvp, and 20mg nic. I use this to "spike" a tank for going out.

You can do it! If you want it.

Good luck!!!
:)

Yeah, you can't recruit a close-minded person. If they are the ones giving you crap, it is probably because you are doing the better thing and they don't have the courage to go the better path like you. At that point, they are not friends.

As to the switching, I used more Nic than I probably needed, had back-ups, didn't care about taste or anything...and literally quit one evening, woke up the next morning, and started the other.

Have courage, stand up, decide for you.

Don't beat yourself up about having a few cigs. Count the ones you DON'T smoke. If the cravings win round one, Just pick up the vape an start vaping after that.

Tell your self you don't smoke cigs anymore. Delay that morning smoke and add minutes to hours delaying it. If you can only do 5 minutes the first couple of days, cool. Just try to add some amount of time on day 2 and so on.

You will eventually lose the cigs altogether. It is a natural progression.

You may really be craving the whole tobacco alkaloid - WTA more than the nicotine. The 2nd poster in this thread tells you what to get and where to get it. I know its a bit expensive, but a little goes a long way. You can also drip a few drops right in your tank to use it that way Lot of members here have used it as it helps to calm down those cravings as you make the switch.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

:)

For my tobacco flavors I still use 12mg MTL.
If you are trying to quit the cigs, I would suggest an MTL tank at that level, which is a light cig.
The new Innokin Zenith is a great MTL tank.
I have a feeling you are trying to quit going right to sub ohm.
Very tough road.
I have to disagree. MTL doesn’t work for everyone. I am proof of that and there are more than a few us that happily and successfully quit with dl. Draw preference is as varied with beginners as juice preference.

Just because they don't want quit smoking doesn't make them bad friends. We have all known or come across the overzealous new vaper that wants to convert everyone thru sheer force of will. Hell I'm a vaper and can't stand them myself.

I smoked for 25 years (1 more year than your age!).

If your friends say "don't blow that by me", then don't. Exhale away from them or go somewhere else to vape. Whether you are a smoker or vaper it is important to be respectful of others. Hopefully your smoker friends are also respectful of you. If they aren't then don't stick around them.

I don't carry juice and large mods with me. I carry 2 pod devices that are about the size of a large pen. Together thats 4 mls of high nicotine salt liquid which is much more than I'd vape in one day. There are lots of different devices to choose from... pods, egos, all in ones, etc... in addition to large battery mods.

Addiction is different for everyone. Although I failed to quit smoking with the gum or medicines, it was easy for me to go from smoking to vaping. I started vaping in February and have been cigarette free for 5 months. I have no desire to go back but I do have the urge to smoke a real cigarette. When the urge hits, I vape.... on occasions when the urge to smoke is strong then I may switch to a tobacco flavor.

Good luck!

Everyone is different, however, I see many comments about the morning cig. For me, if I had a morning cig I'd be derailed the whole day so I just made the jump. I set the day and said vaping only form this point forward. And I stuck to it. Since you are younger - the in thing seems to be the Juul pod. It is super high nic (uses nic salts) and it is a pod. I have mixed feelings about it. In your age group, it is considered the in thing and cool. Also, since it is such high nic it should satisfy you. It sort of looks like a sleek USB drive. If you would vape less with that high of nicotine maybe it will work for you. Many people vape less if they use high nicotine. If you are in the minority, like me, that just vapes a lot no matter what nic level it is definitely not a good choice.

There are plenty of pods on the market. The issue I see is that since you smoke a lot no pod or all in one is going to last you all day. A few hours at most. You could buy 2 so you always have a spare but even 2 are not going to last you all day if you smoke with that much frequency.

Ther are a number of mod boxes out with pretty high capacity batteries that would last you a much longer time but for those you would have to refill your tanks but not carry batteries since they are built in..

I would advise a higher nic for you, and a less cloudy device for out and about. So you don’t feel as conspicuous, and get less negative feedback.

I quit easily with 24 mg and mtl, but find what works for you. Luckily for me, I never have cared what anyone else thought, I just do what’s best for me.

Welp, been one day without cigs and I feel great. I honestly haven’t even thought about it all day and I’ve been around people smoking! Been thinking about getting like two pod devices with some salt nic when I get paid next. What are some good pod devices? I have a suorin air already.
