There was a storm in Indianapolis Saturday. We went out to the pool with clear blue skies. Suddenly black clouds came in at high speed and the rain started before we got inside the house. There was torrential rain and hail for 20 minutes. Trees came down all over town and 26000 people lost their power.
Not fond of those sudden changes

Back in 76 the UK had its hottest summer ever, they called it the Long Hot Summer. Didn't rain in London for 6 weeks. For 15 days the temp never got below 80. On top of that there was brewery strike. Close to hell as you can get.

There was a headline in one of the tabloid newspapers. The headline covered the entire front page in giant letters. It said 72 AGAIN TOMORROW, NO RELIEF IN SIGHT.
    I remember that summer.....

    Somewhere between here and there
We're the lightning and thunderstorm capital of the world, here in Central Florida. The people who've been hit by it, and even killed, didn't think it would bother them either...while they were out riding a bike, skiing, fishing, etc., and some were even driving in their cars. I'm sure my horse Misty and 2 others didn't think it would bother them either...while standing under a huge oak tree to get out of the rain in a pasture. 1 bolt dropped all 5 horses there, and 3 of them died instantly, including Misty. Neighbor had hers hit and killed in his pasture, too, about 6 years ago. Trees routinely get hit and catch fire or it travels down through the trunk and explodes all the earth out from around the base of the tree. The transformer out front of our property has been hit and exploded 3 times in the last 20 years.

So, around here, it doesn't take standing outside with a metal pole to get nailed by our lightning. ;)

I'm surprised if it's that bad there that you wouldn't have considered moving somewhere less dangerous. I'm sorry about the horses. That must have been heart breaking.

My husband has been hit by lightning 2.5 times. The 0.5 time he was drinking with a buddy who wanted to know what lightning was like and the buddy wanted to know what it was like, and well, the husband was like, 'Lighting is striking that river right NOW if we get in it, you will find OUT." I told the husband that rampant stupidity and drunkenness plus deliberately placing oneself in harms way does not COUNT a whole time. He had to agree.

The other two times were legit though. When we are hiking during a thunderstorm and like, well one drums up I always hike RIGHT next to him because it is in fact TRUE that people who get hit by lightning once are more likely to get hit again and well I figured I was in the safest area RIGHT next to him. He was "fine" but then like "fine" is relative.

I would leave Florida as if it were disintegrating into the sea, but it's mostly due to like, the dinosaurs, the people, and the climate. AFAIK (I hate Florida and pay little attention, no offense Floridians)

It is hot here again. I did go out and do a TON of burning of weeds and it is THE BEST (for a pyro.) It's kind of like vacuum cleaning weeds only with FIRE. I had no clue this was a thing but my husband noted I was a very quick study, and apart from the WEIGHT and heaviness of the equipment it was my favorite thing I have done so far. I told the husband I would finish but the propane tank ran dry. It was a shame but it also meant I had to come in and it is SUPER hot out there. I may have to get more propane SOON and do some this evening. Because really, your biggest issue is not burning down everyone's home but more dying of dehydration because you are like, entranced.

Seriously I learned all about how all the weeds burn, the way like you can use the weed patterns and the wind to like burn a WHOLE area by just getting it going. I told the husband it was the BEST, he said he thought it was "hell."

I was like NO IT IS AWSUM.

I think we may be having one of those afternoons where not a whole lot gets done. Though. I mean we are gonna be here twice as long, pacing yourself is important.

OMG though I want to just get in my car and drive away BIG time.

I work outside on the water and land in rain, snow, sunny.. doesn't matter unless the ice is problematic. It gets very hot out on the boat when it's 80+, even just 70+, and sunny with high humidity and wearing rubber coveralls with a white deck, sun shining off the lake too. It's not exactly my favorite thing for me to come home and work some more out in the heat, but I gotta do what needs doing. I prefer low 50s for working outside.

I would imagine the rubber coveralls are not the best breathable material for the hot sun.

Zero breathability.. but the coveralls, boots, and gloves keeps the fish slime, seaweed slime and muck off, but definitely keeps the sweat locked in!

Yeah I think I would prefer sweat over fish slime any day!

I’m definitely the nail and not the hammer or hand. Took my daughters MacBook Pro to the Apple store and something was spilled inside even though my daughter swears she didn’t. She was not getting along at all with her roommates before leaving college so we are guessing one of them spilled something and didn’t say anything. Anyway it’s too expensive to repair so I ordered her a refurbished one from Apple. This time I did buy the Apple care though.

@Redbird11 , I put a new coil in my little MTL tank and tried the Water Malone. I like it... not bad at all (and I don't like candy watermelon like jolly rancher at all) It's a bit sweet but not as much as I expected from Wayne (the creator) Next I'm trying Quik (it's a strawberry malted milk one-shot)
