    On a happier note,

@MacTechVpr, posted on another thread, an idea that I never really thought to research before.

I found the results fascinating, and thought of all of you here, who are always creating your own recipes from scratch (vs. me, who usually poaches other's recipes, and then tweak them to my own liking, and stash).

    MacTech mentioned flavor pairing/compatibility charts.

What I have found (so far), seem to come from a food & beverage stand point; as I have not seen some of the suggestions offered as concentrates, as well as no concentrate manufacturers/brands being specified. I still think these could be a useful tool for formulating ideas; especially when the creative juices just don't seem to be flowing.

So far, I have found two, that I feel are worthy of point out:
    https://www.vapepassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/ejuice-flavor-pairing-chart.png
    and
    https://www.vapepassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/mist-eliquid-flavour-pairings.jpg
Both came from the same website:
Flavor Pairing Charts for DIY E-Juice - VapePassion.com

Also, deserving honorable mention, one of ECF's own threads:
    Flavor Pairing...list

I will continue to see what else I can stumble across; and share any interesting finds.

    Enjoy!:D
Some of those flavor combos are weirder than mine..............very interesting,ty:)

I hope not. I won't like that. Shake and vape recipes always win with me.
From all I've read vg based flavors need an extended steep. I know from playing around with base mixes the vg heavier base takes longer to steep than those with p400 added.

Any plans today, folks?? Unless I think of something quick I have no plans at all other than to finish trying steeped mixes. I think these multiply overnight because I still have 6 of them. These are the ones I keep putting off cause there's not much chance of liking them. I'll consider myself lucky to get 2-3 done.

Tobacco leaves have to be soaked for some extensive time in PG before the flavor is filtered but that part has nothing to do with steeping.
I think you missed my qualifier:
the extract itself benefits from (maybe even "requires"?) its own sleeping period (after being extracted; and before being mixed),
(Just one of the many reasons I dislike the term "sleeping for general DIY usage. I broke my own rule; and it bit me in the rump.)

If you read some of the natural extract threads, here on ECF; you will see that often the poster recommends aging the finished extract (post-initial genuine steep, and filtration), before using to create the actual final e-liquids (which requires its own additional aging).

That was what I was trying to refer to.:D
But why so extreme? I enjoy vaping. I enjoy the flavors and mixing a recipe that I really love..........
I'm not sure what is so extreme.

I too enjoy vaping, and DIYing, and the on-going creation (or, at least plagiarizing all of you real creators;)). What I didn't like, was vaping was beginning to interfere with other aspects of my life. Much like smoking used to do (when can I smoke, where can I smoke, where are my smokes, now where's my lighter, etc.). I didn't like that sense of vaping controlling me, nor did I like how I was feeling (the heavy chest issues previously mentioned), so I endeavored to change it.

I thought if I vaped about a third of what I was currently vaping at would be a good target. Tripling the nic seemed logical... at least in my cottage cheese mind. So that's what I did.

The result ended up being closer to an 80% reduction; but I'm okay with that. Hindsight now tells me I probably could have gotten away with 12-14% and been on target. It wasn't what I aimed for; but I'll take it as a bonus. If that is extreme; then so be it.:D:laugh::D

I am hobbling off to bed now, and try to steal a few hours sleep. I hope everyone has a good day!:D

You keep strange hours,Joel;) I can see you wanting to lose the heavy chest feeling and whatever you're happy with is wonderful:)

As far as the making of NET's.....I know it's a long process of stages. I did read some of the threads long ago. Very interesting.

    Good post Joel!

    Ingredient Pairings
(the interesting aspect with this one is you can put multiple flavors into the search bar)

Flavor Charts | BAKE IT RIGHT

I have been using these food pairing charts for quite a while and find them pretty useful even thought they are not specifically for vaping.

Agreed. I love the airflow options on the Berserker. If I am vaping unflavored, the largest is fine. If I have a flavored liquid; then either one or two up from the smallest seems to work best. Now I just need to get coil size, I.D., positioning (above the air inlet), and power/temperature, figured out and I am golden!

Don't use a Berserker, but, in general, a good starting point is to have the coil the same distance above the air inlet as its inner diameter. So, for example, a 3 mm ID coil would be 3 mm up.

No...not at all! You had said what trying to vape MTL felt like to you, (which made me giggle by the way), and I was telling how different my own experience is with it. That's all. I thought your idea about Joel maybe trying restricted DTL was a good one.

In my 2nd paragraph, I said I was glad there were different methods for people. Because if I had to vape DTL, I'd probably not vape at all, and I thought you might feel the same way if MTL were the only method.

I probably just shouldn't have posted about anything that wasn't directed to me. I apologize and won't do it again. :)
Neither of your posts came off as anything but informational to me! I like hearing how others vape, especially since I’ve only been building for about 6 months. I think finding a tank and dialing in a build is the hardest part. Keeping an open mind and trying (and pif-ing) quite a few tanks brought me to my happy zone of really tight dl/very loose mtl range. I didn’t know it was possible to NOT leak vapor out the nose as I vape ???? My hubs calls it “Puff the Magic Dragon-ing”

I have to decide on a couple short steep recipes. I have a pile steeping, but they’re all looooong from ready, and I’m about out of juice. I’m going to have to organize myself and round up the bottles. I swear last week I thought I had too many in rotation and needed to finish them off.

Peanuts in a Coke...of course it's good! They've got to be salted peanuts though. You northerners don't know what you're missing.

Salty and sweet paired is the best! It’s like potato chips and a chocolate bar mmmmmm, yummy! Coke and peanuts. Yummy

So I am wanting to switch my most used flavorings to plastic bottles thin tip. My instinct is to go with LDPE but not sure if that is better for flavors that may be in the bottle for 2+ years. Any thoughts are welcome.

IMO, if they need to be easy to squeeze bottles, to dispense flavoring and have a thin tip on them...LDPE is the only option for ones that don't leech plastic chemicals. If you didn't need an easy squeeze plastic...you could use PP and/or HDPE ones, too. Some PP ones are available with the thin tips. I've personally never seen any HDPE with dispensing tips though, because it's a very rigid plastic. IMO the HDPE would be better for long term storage, out of those 2 options.

Do you need the thin tip because you measure by weight? Or do you just prefer that for other reasons? I'm expecting a bunch of 1oz., narrow mouth, HDPE, leak-proof screw-on cap, bottles to be delivered this coming week. I could send you a few of those for free...to see if they'd work for you.

Great info! Thank you. When I am trying to create something new, I search for charts like those. This is one I found for substitutions that might be helpful to other mixers.

This is an amazing thread!!! I’ve just added a new folder with 5 links to do with flavour pairing etc... sorry for not sending koodo’s to the op’s of the links but I’ll be back later.

I’ve recently started making from scratch, prior I tweaked juices for quite some time. I checked out quite a bit of other resources but DIY was a bit scary for me. All this knowledge, all the talented juiceologists here, :) you deserve some recognition.

This gave me the inspiration to take the big plunge and step from tweaking to actually mixing.

    TYVM diyer’s,

Please forgive me if i’m in the wrong thread but since you had the links here I figured it was ok
