Fireworks! GF and I are going out to eat, then to fireworks.
She loves them, we go nearly every year. She loves to feel the boom and to be nearly under them. It's a thing, kind of like you get with some people at rock concerts. She's 100% immersed in the event.

And of course, the CV-19 has leveled off and maybe starting to increase again. But it's still low risk enough for us to go out to eat, so we will. Grrr.

And I'm still hearing from the locals that masks are B.S. and that they'll never get vaccinated, and we're not talking about medical reasons to avoid it. I don't understand people...or maybe I do, but I'm too optimistic to think of them the way I should...because dang. On the plus side, I signed up for the vaccine lottery that MI just started. lol.

I have one, it's fine. Does everything, costs 100 bucks ish, and gets replaced it ever needed to, cheap. Can do grilling, and smoking too.

Gave my barrel smoker away when I moved. Too much to haul around and store, was sitting outside (covered) and just mostly sits. So bye.

Traeger...looks like a smoker-oven, not really a searing-grill. So IDK how you sear a steak on it. It sure looks nice with even heat, smoke flavor, and sliding grill grades. Not dissing it, it is what it is. But I don't think you can sear on it easily, or maybe it's just automagic that things will get brown bits.

Haven't used a gas grill in 12-ish years, except at get-togethers where I help set up or cook. But I'm not sure I miss it; it IS very convenient though. Wheel it out, start it up, cook and post-heat, and roll it back away. I'd have to keep the Weber though, to smoke things occasionally, since I'd dedicate that to smoking and keep the gas grill nicer and not coated with smoke residue.

From what I’ve read, you have to do a reverse sear on steaks with the traeger. I don’t cook much steak. Whichever brand I decide on, I’ll probably do mostly smoking with the occasional burgers. Pit boss seems to be a bit less expensive and has decent reviews.

    Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
are not the big plans in southern Norway, I will look at TdF, and later work with links to Zazie's blog if I am told which part I will take care of.

@hittman , MTL vape, zenith pro vs Zenith II, is the new one so much better that it's worth the upgrade?

I barely used the zenith pro. I don’t really remember why but didn’t care for it. I haven’t really done much mtl with the zenith 2. I have been running the .3 coils for Rdl. One thing I like about the zenith 2 is it’s easy to take apart completely to clean.

It looks like a fantastic smoker to me, really. Self monitoring of heat, which is beautiful and would take a lot of hassle out of the smoking process, if you're not a purist and are into automation (and that's me, I love tech anyway).

Any of the models with similar feature would be great smokers. Brisket and chickens...yum!

I didn't like the Zenith Pro but I'm afraid I can't tell you why cause I don't remember and I piffed it long ago. I do like the new Zenith II.

Is that a menthol-mint or a like a peppermint type of thing? (Not much of a menthol fan anymore).

It’s a mix of different mint flavors but does have some menthol to it

I’ve had my barrel smoker for several years and my motivation in looking at pellet grills is to take the hassle out of it. Not to mention that I go through a bag of charcoal and a bag of wood chunks every time I smoke.

Happy 4th of July! My neighbors were shooting fireworks last night. I dislike them and worry about house fires. Cat stayed close to me but she took it very well as she is a jumpy cat on a good day.

I don’t grill often. I use the somewhat cheapest one I can find. The one I have now stays exposed and has seen better days but it works. Always charcoal. I don’t like opening them as the red wasps tend to always love building nests in them. I’ll be brave, and ready with a can of wasp spray, when I grill later.

I’ll be finishing cutting grass and I’m washing my bedding now. Then I’ll grill. ‘Bout it for us. Son is studying for a thermodynamics test on Tuesday.

Mmmm, bug spray flavored burgers. People in our neighborhood were shooting off stuff last night to. Sounded like some big ones. People used to drop m80’s down the storm drain and it would echo for blocks. Haven’t heard one of those yet but the fun is just starting.

    Morning all....

Added a little bit of pralines and cream to a tank of my milkshake base and it's really good but needs a bit more sweetness....maybe some sweet cream or meringue?? Or I could just add a sweet fruit...pretty much any fruit will go with hazelnuts I'm thinking.

I'm trying to de sweeten myself... as we all know I don't need any extra really :pervy:

Have a good day everyone

you might like this attachment (for download) it's the "ultimate fruit pairing" chart. Helps you find flavors that go together, that you may not have thought about...

I'm really surprised I haven't heard any fireworks. I remember last year hearing them for several days. Not really a big deal as it was far enough away that it wasn't all that loud. Weather here has been pretty crappy so maybe that has to do with it. I'm sure they'll be out tonight even in rain.

Eh, I never close the lid while grilling so it won’t matter. We are just country people, what doesn’t kill you just makes you stronger. Son will be too busy inhaling the food so he won’t notice. Here is our grill…I’m just frugal but it works for us. Ok ok I’m cheap!

They have been shooting off fireworks for over a week in my neighborhood. I technically live just outside the city limits, so there are no restrictions on them. That is one of the reasons I am heading out of town later on today. My dog and I could use some peace and quiet.
