How is dialysis going for you?

Short and to the point - I'm making through and doing fairly well for the past 6 weeks since the operation. Still trying to get my head around "stuff" and adjust to a lot of things though too. Thanks for asking . . .

Now for a little more info. . .

Well like any other major ailement / illnesses - it's life changing to say the least. Besides the physical and emotional/mental affects/effects, there is the conundrum of so many positive and negative daily influxes that influence your overall life almost every second of the day. Without-a-doubt, it is one of those extream ailment / illnesses the majority of us all go through in our lifetime, some worse and some better then many - depending on the choices about our Healthcare we make.

Personally, for "Me", I am doing the best I can at the moment, especially given what I have to do to maintain the catheters attached to my body. More importantly, realizing what I can and cannot do now - particularly given my additional health problems that started over 20 years ago with becoming a Diabetic, Allergies-Asthma-Emphysema-COPD, having a Quintruple by-pass, A-Fibs (TEE 2Xs), Peripheral Nurupothy, Lypadeama, etc to name just a few.

One of the "funniest" / "humorous" issues is the change in my diet - one allows me a limited menu of items i can / cannot eat that conflicts with the other menu of limited items I can / cannot eat - lots of "Fun". Top that off with being limited to 32 oz of liquid per day, which includes anything and everything that can turn into a liquid (Ice cubes, Jello, Ice Cream, All Sauces, Soups/Stews,etc.). Also I can no longer take a shower and have to have someone (a woman healthcare aid) help me bath.

The other really "fun" thing is being "tied" down in a recliner for over 3 - 4 hours straight connected to a machine every other day.

Thankfully, I been able to stealth vape sometimes through out my sessions (in an open room under very bright lights with anywhere from 20 + other people) - but honestly I think the techs ignore me when and/or if they see some vape escape my cover (at least they don't smell anything since I vape unflavored). :headbang:

This is the first year of my life where I've gotten bored with sports. Wonder if I caught some new unknown and rare illness...

Was thinking about going to see my PCP for that.

That there ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ spot-on. I am living with 4 women and 1 other guy. :w00t:

The women do enjoy watching some sports. Like women's beach volleyball for example. And, me being me, I most certainly enjoy watching that. Seriously though, I do like all beach volleyball. They also like watching Euro and some American futbol (soccer), and so do I.

IOW, I've transitioned with the kinds of sports I enjoy. That works, for me.

Okay then, Dr. Uncle... you saved me a trip to my PCP. Oh and, the consultation check is in the mail.

I always keep you in mind when it comes to my kidneys, and what you're going through. I am still stage 3 and hope to keep it that way. I am 66, have had a liver transplant, but hope to have many more years to live.

I watched Morbius on Netflix while the wife is napping. I think I’ll get off my behind and get in a workout. Probably need to peek in the freezer to set out something for dinner.

I'm not a Medical Doctor, but personally I don't see why you wouldn't have a longer life, especially given you've already gone through a major life change and seem to be dealing with it well. All you really NEED to do is make the best choices that you can for your continued good health. Just don't be surprised if something else should happen to add in the mix as you get older - and deal with it as best you can too. Personally, I'm routing for ya' . . . Just Sayin' . . .

I really need to get back into a regular exercise routine. Once a week just isn’t getting it done. I know I’ve said that before. It’s just hard sticking with it. I just need to try harder.

On a positive note, I packed up some review stuff and started going through my vape cabinet. I’ve got some old mixes in there that I know I’m not going to ever use so started a dump box.

:2c: Well - Make it an even more positive note today and - IMHO - try harder getting back into that exercise routine before "YOU" wind up like "Me" . . . We just so happen to like having you around these parts . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Thanks for the encouragement. I am going to make a conscious effort to do better.
