@barkfunklerbunk, just saw your Lego's post.

About 3 years back JFCooley in the Shiny thread built the Lego Ultimate Collectors Star Wars Millennium Falcon. See the link for a couple of his photos. It looks really cool!! But, 7541 pieces, yowza. I never did ask him if he had any extra pieces leftover.

I didn't have Legos when I was a kid. LOL, I had Lincoln Logs ( ).

Are you or were you a postal worker?

I work part-time (Sundays) for USPS, delivering Amazon packages. How else would people get their Sunday Amazon orders. I'm on leave now because I had foot surgery and require bedrest for at least a month. That's why I responded from my bed.

I hope you get to drive a metris down there, I can only imagine delivering mail in Texas heat.. a carrier died this summer I think in Dallas. I drive around an easy bake oven LLV but it doesn't get too hot up here. Thankfully, I always get Sundays off because there is no Amazon Sunday in my sleepy town. I wish and pray you a speedy recovery, that everything heals back to normal! I hope you have someone to help you while you recover.

In addition to Bayco I spent many hours working with Meccano. Later introduced as Erector in the US. Don't know how similar they were.

Back then you got a box of basic pieces with nuts and bolts to put them together, there weren't many different pieces. Each set came with some examples of designs you could build to get you started, after that you could use your imagination. Better sets just had more of the same pieces and maybe some different pieces like electric motors. Around the time I grew out of that stuff it all changed. Instead of a box of basic pieces you got kits designed to build a single object. The first one I saw was when a younger cousin got a set that made a truck. It came with a piece called the cabin with doors and windows and a steering wheel and so forth already assembled. Etc. All you could build with it was a truck.

Guess it made sense to the vendors because you had to keep buying more single use sets. Seemed to me that it took away what made those construction sets good for encouraging kids to use their minds and learn how to build stuff. Everything is about money today.

I try to get to work early enough to get a metris. There are not enough to go around and late comers get an LLV.

Talked to dd for a few minutes before she shut herself in her office to work. Then turned on the coffeepot and computor and took a shower. So I was a bit late getting on here. I need to work on recipes but don't have much for ideas. Maybe I need more coffee.

    Morning, mixers.

Heat wave continues, and continues to rise. Still claiming it will break after Thursday. And still no rain.

the skies are many beautiful shades of grey,

:w00t: everyone knows rain doesn't actually have a smell, but......

petrichor is what is known as that amazingly wonderful Earthy smell we experience during and after it rains
and it's one of many peoples favorite smells.........

jus' in case ya were wondering........ "it is caused by the water from the rain, along with certain compounds like ozone, geosmin, and plant oils"
    science........ gotta luv it baby!!!

"Petrichor is the smell of rain. The word comes from the Greek words 'petra', meaning stone, and 'ichor', which in Greek mythology refers to the golden fluid that flows in the veins of the immortals."

did i mention that i love it when it rains?
