See, I'm lazy. I realized that I was about to commit to buying endless supplies of measuring tools, which I'd have to constantly wash, which may fail (syringes) at any moment causing a mess to clean, and I'd have to find places to store all of that crap. Oh, Hell, NO!

Unfortunately, vendors usually offer whole mixing kits for measuring by volume...which contain all sorts of things you don't even really need. Many of us who mix by volume use just several syringes of varying capacities and some blunt needle tips. I can easily fit them all in 1 small Ziplock baggie. Have only needed to replace 5 cheap syringes in the last 3 1/2 years. Like many others...I make my eliquids right in the bottles they'll stay in, if they're 10-100mL sizes. Larger than that (like my ADV) gets made in a bigger bottle, and it's used to refill a 50mL bottle. It works for me and takes up minimal space.

Whether measuring by volume, or by weight though...the results can be the same = perfectly great tasting DIY. It's just a matter of personal preference as to which method someone chooses. I have no doubt that you'll do great measuring by weight!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, @JCinFLA ! I know how very little time I have to devote to DIY. It's a means to a cheaper, smarter, much more concise way for me to continue to vape. It's not a hobby for me and I simply don't have the time/energy for one. Oh, and I'm an accident going somewhere to happen... There WILL be fails, there WILL be MANY, and they WILL BE EPIC (the less for me to futz with, the less likelihood for lots of unnecessary drama later)!

I just want to be able to make liquids quickly, easily, inexpensively, and whenever I need it. No more chasing e-liquid sales, flavors of the week, spending a certain $ minimum for free shipping, and then I don't even really like half of it. I have so much stuff sitting around that I haven't tried yet and loads of stuff that I'm hoping will get better. I've invested money & storage space into these retail liquids, so I'm reluctant to toss juice, unless it is truly vile.

With DIY, I can go along with my mood, Seasonal holidays, and even the weather within minutes and for almost pennies. If something doesn't work for me (within a reasonable chance for everything to meld), I can just throw it out and begin again. Not so true with an $18-20 bottle of juice (even with a mad sale).

Then I saw a video on mixing by weight... I just bought the scale instead...

So... How'd I do?

Smart move... I think you'll do great, you've certainly got a good start... And, if you run into a few bumps along the way, there's lots of folks here, ready and willing to help...

For a long time, I've been going back and forth on the whole weight vs volume ways of mixing and had myself convinced that measuring with syringes, cylinders, beakers, etc. was the best/precise way to go... I have been gathering info on all of the various, inexpensive measuring tools and was about to buy a combo pack of syringes on Amazon... Then I saw a video on mixing by weight... I just bought the scale instead...

I just started out DIY ejuice myself. I bought the kit, with the syringes and all. It was a pain in the ... doing it by volume. The cleaning up after was what got me. So I bought THE vaping scale on Amazon, and I'm doing it by weight now. Much easier in my opinion, more accurate (I can see the big numbers on the scale, not the little lines on the syringe) and I mix in the bottle I'm going to use. I have one needle to clean (for the Nic) and that's it.

I bought a kit from NicotineRiver (those buckets are handy), but I knew I'd need some more syringes on hand for later. I stopped myself, before I bought more. The way I see it: I'll have some lab ware on hand, just in case of anything catastrophic.

Everything is thawed. But, my morning has been spent on MORE credentialing stuff (I was proud actually I kind of had MOST of what I needed, tucked away in an easy to locate place. That, and yelling at the pharmacy that annoyed me so yesterday concerning like, their lack of product which they "courtesy called" me to let me know it was totally out of stock. I actually got so mad I convinced THEM to call Costco, pharmacies all want YOU to do that. While I don't TRUST them in the slightest to do it, well I'd rather try to make them and then call Costco to see. So I've been unpleasantly busy, but in a good way I guess.

I haven't been in that store for like 6 years, IDK what I was thinking. Usually if I swear off a place, it's for a reason. But recipes have been dancing in my head and I'm going to (in flagrant disregard of safety perhaps but not really) going to use some snus to get through the exhaustion of mixing.

Chef’s order is done: cherry liquer, gold rum,tonic and gin both in 30ml, banana custard, toffee ice cream, bourbon, brandy, and lemonade clear. BCF order will round everything out when they go on sale. Now, off to MFS to grab a litre of nic while it’s 20% off.

Well, all good except for the VTA Gold Rum but maybe you will be one of the few who doesn't think it tastes like watered down BBQ sauce. The VTA Light Rum is quite good.

I don't have VTA or FW Cheesecakes. If you have a plain cheesecake (without graham) it should be very bitter (sour). Better give that VTA a sniff before you mix with it.

Yes, a bit sour, like the FW with no graham. It has a slight cheese/sour dairy like note with a light creamy mouthfeel. Since I don't mix cheesecakes, the VTA Cheesecake Base should work in the pound cake. Sort of like adding sour cream.

Fran, I understand you are not real big on fruits in general, but CF UK does have a bunch (VTA in particular) of fruits I am not familiar with, living here in the US. Several of them look like they might play well with tobaccos, and/or boozy mixes. These are some of the ones that caught my eye today; I will consider ordering this weekend:
FA Shade (sangria type mixes?)
INW Sparkling Wine (I hadn't seen INW offing a champagne type before)
FA Summer Clouds (described as a light fruit medley, that might be good in sparkling types of mixes)
VTA Snake Fruit (possible tropical fruit style addition)
VTA Bitters (I've been eyeballing this one for a while. Hoping it may be useful a a bitters addition to boozy drinks)
VTA Ginger Root (wanting for that ginger beer note; to be used in creating mule (boozy) drinks)
VTA Fig (I don't have any fig in my stash; and VTA suggests it pairs well with lots of things)
VTA Mangosteen (how can I pass on something labeled "Queen of the fruits?")
VTA Red Date (Not sure on this one; but the "thick texture" description got me, and thought tobacco, and maybe boozy)
VTA Yellow Passion Fruit (I like classic passion fruit (purple skin); and mostly because I am curious how it may differ from the TFA, and FA I already have)
FA Pernoir (an anise/licorice pairing; I like a good licorice, and might be interesting for some boozy mixes)

VTA has still others, that have me curious (Apollo feijoa, Blood Plum, Green Mango, Jackfruit, Mango Juice, Paw Paw, Pandan Leaf), but I had to draw the line somewhere.

Of course, Botanical Gin, and Tonic are both topping my list.

You can get INW Sparkling Wine from EcigExpress and DIY Vapor Supply. VTA Ginger Root has rave reviews - maybe even better than NF. Bull City does carry it but if you are placing an order from Chefs, might as well throw it in to get more bang for the same shipping fee, along with the INW Sparkling Wine.

I wish I had a penny for every ordering mistake I have made. VTA Blood Orange Champagne - YUCK! CAP Mango - I don't even like Mango but ordered TWO bottles of the stuff and big ones too. I need to PIF some flavors that never, ever should have made it into my stash. Don't feel bad. It is SO hard to keep up.

I looked on elr, atf, and Reddit... can’t find any notes, reviews etc on gold rum . Do you remember where the bbq reference came from? I’m somewhere between intrigued, grossed out and that it may be a waste.

  Tested at 4%. Even after 6 weeks, the watery barbecue sauce flavor is still there. It is sweet and slightly spicy and not really boozy. This is the flavor if you want to add barbecue to your e-liquid. I have no suggestions for the use of VTA's Golden Rum.

There is a very light golden rum flavour in the background, but it is almost masked by that overwhelming astringent and bitter chemical taste, the off note is so strong that I believe any % that this is mixed at would still have that chemical taste as the main taste. Suggested Usage I’m unable to suggest any usage for this due to that very strong Chemical taste.
