am I missing something? seems lately there's a lot of posts in fb groups about scales
I mean is there really any difference/advantages to measuring by weight vs volume?
you're still going to have to measure by volume first to start adding to the scale to then measure by weight....

I tried measuring by volume first - then got a scale and tried measuring by weight. If you can just pour/squirt each ingredient into a bottle/cylinder, then it's a great method.

I found it quicker for me as there's no clean up of syringes, pipettes etc. I also struggled to get the nozzle caps off the flavouring bottles - with a scale, you don't need to.

As @Zazie said - measuring by weight is simple: pour VG in til the weight is correct, hit tare. Pour the pg in til it's at weight, hit tare and so on.

I agree. I started by using the 100 drop test. Then I switched to syringes. They were a pita and I discovered that my measurements weren’t all that accurate and good luck measuring .5% of something when making a 10ml tester. Not to mention the clean up sucks if you’re lazy like me. I put the bottle on the scale, hit tare, and add each flavor and hit tare after each one. I then add pg, vg, and nic. The elr calculator also allows you to use a premixed base which cuts out a couple steps. I can’t imagine going back to syringes.

yeah, I really need a label maker, sitting here vaping on a juice i made, no idea what it is.... lol dropped it into my atty like please don't be bad hahaha
honestly not sure, it's not bad but I donno, think it's a banana something vape, I think this was a failed attempt at a coffee vape, yes it sounds strange but I found that a little bit of banana helped bring out the coffee flavor
but i think it's so old, it's steeped to the point that the banana overpowered most of everything else it's now more of a slight nutty and almost licorice flavor smoothed over with ripe banana... I am so confused but it's really not bad just strange
ug yep gonna have to get a label maker
    I'd be lost without mine.

Mixing by volume requires a good eye for liquid levels and a steady hand. You have to mark the beaker with lines for ingredients or use some device like a syringe or a pipette to measure the liquid volume of each ingredient.

I find mixing by weight to be much simpler. I just put the bottle on the scale, tare the scale to zero, and add my 100mg/ml nic base per the recipe. Then, I tare the scale to zero again and repeat with PG, VG, and flavor, hitting the tare button to zero the scale after each pour. Cap the bottle, shake it well, label it, and set it aside. Continue with the next bottle. For me, mixing by weight is easy, straightforward, and accurate. There's virtually nothing to wash afterward except for the eyedropper if you use one. I buy pipettes in bags of 100 and toss them after one diy session.

I use clear condiment bottles for PG and VG, an eye dropper or pipette for nic base, and the bottles my flavors come in for the flavor adds.

Best tutorial video I've found for mixing by weight.

There's also this one, for which you can buy a power adapter, which appeals to me 'cause I like to avoid using batteries when I can (if there were plug-in, batteryless mods, I'd buy them). The two together cost less than a dollar more than the one @FranC linked to above.

    ug...do I really?!?!
So I found a heck of a deal but do I really want to spend $50 on a label maker?
so staples has the Brother QL-800 on sale for $59.99 with free shipping, and one of my coupon thingies took another $10 off.....
I was looking on ebay at the QL-700 and found one used for $30
I really like these instead of the little label makers, this way I can have all the info on there
as far as I can tell the only difference between the two is that the 800 can also print in red not just black...is that really worth $20 more? And do I really need it? hahaha I was looking at the one fran posted and a few others but even those were $20, so I mean $10 more I can have nice labels

A roll of masking tape and a sharpie and I'm good to go.

I use a scrapbook straight cutter and cut a sheet of printer paper into small rectangle pieces. A baggy full of those, a roll of scotch tape and a black marker is what I use. We have a label maker but I don’t want to buy cartridges to label sft and sample bottles.
