Yes - Biscuits are considered very similar to the Scones - almost made the same way too. However, Scones can be made with many different additional ingredients to make them either sweet or savory. One of my favorites is having a Scone w/Clotted Cream and Strawberry Jam.
Also, as for the British Biscuits (Cookies), most are made similarly to what we might call a "Short Bread" (both Round/Square) that are sweet and can even have nuts/a "fruit" jam filling in the middle or on top - think Pecan Sandies. A favorite of mine you can get almost anywhere in grocery stores and even CVS/Walgreens was "Walkers Shortbread Prue Butter Cookies", also there is the "Millionare Shortbread Bar" . . . "YUM" ! ! !
