It’s just as easy to build a list and order from chefs or nomnomz. It just takes a little longer to arrive.
Yep, already added it to my wishlist on Chefs. But I won't be ordering anything for a while. I have a bunch of recipes that I still need to mix with my last couple of flavor orders.

I’m right there with you. I’ve been working for about 35 years. Did three of it in the army and spent the first nine months of the gulf war in Saudi Arabia. Got out, went to college at night while working full time. My wife had/has health issues and hasn’t worked for many years. I’ve put one kid through college and the second is half way through. My salary pays for everything. I’ve worked jobs where I’ve put in as much as 60 hours a week when I was younger. Now I put in about 45 but am salary so no overtime. I’ve worked hard for everything I have with no regrets. No gold star here either.

Remember when we were discussing colonoscopies back late last year?

Well, I had an endoscopic surgery after my last colonoscopy that led to severe sepsis, and a colostomy, resulting in a Two month coma and another month in physical rehab, learning how to walk again. I just got out of the hospital again on Wednesday after colostomy reversal surgery and I’m still waiting to see if it worked or not, with a follow up in Two weeks ( My gut looks like someone ran a steak knife down it and closed it with about Five staples, just in case they have to go back in and do an ileostomy) and then it’ll be a race to see if I will be able to get myself back in shape in order to return to work in September. By my count, there have been over Twenty surgical procedures.

And you know what? I’m lucky. 600,000 Americans dead from COVID, Four Million worldwide, and counting.

God’s looking out for me. I’ve been blessed with an amazing medical team who have taken me under their wing and seen me home, and a family that’s been able to help me begin to pick up the pieces going forward.

Nobody owes me a damn thing. I make my own way in this world, always have, always will, but; there are times when people step up and help each other out.

It’s best to remember that, be grateful, and be ready when it’s your turn to do the same.

No judgement here: just passing along something I’ve had to learn a few times in this life.

I’ve got a bunch of flavors that haven’t even been opened. I always order with good intentions but haven’t quite gotten the follow through down yet.

Once I noticed that my flavor stash had already reached over 200, I decided to slow down on buying new ones for awhile. I need to make use of what I have for now. Plus, I've found a few mixes I really enjoy recently, so I'm in no rush to find the next big thing.

Good lord, I had no idea that an endoscopy or colonoscopy could have those types of complications. I'm sure glad you are doing better.

That's right, now I remember it had something to do with the diacetyl. I won't be flavor shopping for a while, but I will keep the Vanilla Cookie in mind for later. I might like it.
I really like the vanilla cookie a lot.

    Thanks.

    I’m optimistic.

My big thing right now is hoping I can go jump in the ocean, or the lake up at my place in the ADK, at least once, before going back to the job. That’s more than a lot of people can look forward to in this crazy world we live in.

I'd say after all the medical stuff you've been through, you definitely deserve a nice swim in the lake.

I was going to keep my mouth shut, but I just can't any longer.

Let me first say that I'm not "sticking up" for Vaper1960. I don't know what really takes place at his house, what his Mom will or won't let him do for her, nor the type or extent of his mother's dementia and how those things affect their interractions.

However, I'm certain that no one knows what it's truly like...living with, loving, and honestly trying to help, an elderly parent who has dementia or Alzheimer's...until they've been there, done that. IF the parent is still physically mobile and able to do things for themselves...it's common for them to resent it and/or even get very angry...if anyone else does those things for them, or at times even offers to! It's seen by the parent as trying to take away some of what little control they still have left over their lives. Having their finances taken care of for them and driving them everywhere...are 2 of the most difficult for them to deal with. It's also often the person who's closest to them physically and emotionally, who's helping them the most, or trying to...who catches the brunt of their frustrations, anger, accusations, outbursts, etc. Like I said earlier...no one knows until they've been there, done that.

IMO, sometimes people "open up" here about things that maybe they shouldn't...because it's usually a given that it'll result in a variety of responses, whether they're wanted ones or not. Also, sometimes it's just TMI. I can think of a past member right away, about that. But, if there are no close friends, family, or other people...the poster feels comfortable telling about it............;) It seems to be sort of a catch-22.

The really scary part about reading this whole conversation for me is I have been on both sides of this coin, previously taking care of a parent until she went into assisted living and now the disabled parent, who is only going to get worse, relying on a son to help me that I pray would never feel that way let alone take shots at me on an open forum. I had a hard time reading any of this

It’s a frigidaire induction top with a convection oven that has an air fryer setting. It has both self and steam clean modes, which I’ve never seen before. Her kitchen is really small, so she’s always wanted a smooth top range. The induction top doesn’t get hot, so safe for the littles when they come. Fancier than anything I’ve ever had. She’s excited about all the bells and whistles.
Cripes....does it run on delithium crystals?:wub:

Thanks. Here is a photo taken when I felt the Force of the completed Fig Newton mix.

Nerdy lab coat, stupid gloves, tie, dress shirt and safety glasses already removed. Silver hair thingamabob was a wig, didn't want my real hair flying all over my clean room lab. Back to tank top, cutoffs and flipflops. Hair let down, but too hot, tied up in back.

The tall graduated cylinder with the light golden liquid is the Fig Newtons mix. Yes, yes, I know my mixing lab looks scientifically cool. It is. :D
That looks extremely unsafe... especially the wig :D And where's the foam fire extinguisher and the dedicated bomb squad telephone

If that didn't sound so bizarre, I might try mixing that. BTW, I love fig newtons and fresh figs (most people like the first but I am the only person I know that loves fresh figs)
I love both green and black figs...but probably black figs are my favourite and they're definitely the fig roll flavour profile.....love them when they go all soft and jammy.... delicious....
