I am totally sold on SS430 wire with rayon wick. My coils and wicks are staying cleaner. When I use a paper towel to rub back and forth on the coils they even look pretty shiny again. The big bonus is that you can use it in regular kanthal mode or TC mode. Now I don't have to try to remember which tanks are coiled for TC and which are not. :)

Been wicking exclusively with rayon pretty much since the stuff got popular. Not sure how long, but well over a year.

These days for me, it's a nice tightly rolled wick, threaded snugly through a 3mm kanthal coil (generally in the 1 ohm range), in a KF4 running Halo SubZero at 20w. I easily get 10-14 days. With cotton, it was 3 days max.

Been using Cellucotton Rayon all along, and I'm fairly happy with it. I'm a bit intrigued by mention of Pharmaceutical Rayon. Did some quick searches and came up with nothing on where to source it. Anyone willing to share a source in the US? Thanks!

I put a dual 28g ti in the Big German last night. Trimmed the Rayon wick on a 50/50 split with all 4 tails packed down onto the deck covering the feed holes. I didn't take any pictures as I am still trying to perfect the BG Rayon wicking. Not having to worry about dry hits now it's TC, I just have to make sure it will not flood either.

Next tankful I will put a refined wick in and see how that works, before I fill it up all the way. :)

That thing is a monster, but the room for coils looks smaller than I would have expected. It may be easier for you if once the density in the coil is right to just adjust the Tails as needed by trimming more or adding little tufts of Rayon to see how much or where you need it. Before you redo the whole Wick again.

There is no retail source other than finding in a bottle. Its the original first rayon I used in the original op. Sallys is fine, others are slightly better to me. They are even cleaner and more uniform, also different levels of fluffiness or coarseness and thus slightly different densities are needed between them.

I am trying to source the highest quality Rayon but its proving to be more difficult than I thought at this time. I am working with a very important contact right now. Hopefully soon, you guys will be the first to know.

First post here. Vaping with my first rayon wick I did yesterday. I read all of the intro to this thread. I wicked my Lemo tight, trimmed about 50% of the tails real close to the coil ends tucked the tails down and away from the juice inlets. Been vaping like a champ. I do simple coils, nothing fancy. I just wanted to say that I can tell already that rayon will be my wick of choice in my RTAs henceforth. I suppose that last word lets ya know I'm a curmudgeon.

Excellent canno!

Welcome to the group! :vapor:

You've entered the next level in your vaping experience, or a whole 'nother level. Glad the op was able to direct you to success!

Well its been 10 days since I first switched to Rayon. I vape close to 10ml a day in my Billow V2. I check the coils and wick every time I fill. So in 10 days I have put about 100ml through the billow. My wicks are just as white as the day I put them in and it tastes just as good as day 1. I'm also running about 90 VG. I'm very happy with this setup. I also wicked my Lemo V2 with rayon at the same time as my billow. About 2 days ago I got my first dry hit on the Lemo and it tastes burnt now. I have been to busy to take it apart and see what the problem is. The one thing I didn't do is trim down the tails that thin so I'm thinking it has something to do with it. Ill have to rewick and inspect it when I get time. I'm really curios to see how much juice I can put through my Billow before I need to change wicks. I do however DIY for my liquid and its a very clear with very light flavoring so that might have something to do with the longevity.

Impressive, you've slingshot into the 100ml club!

If you did it with traditional mods without temp control then you are in the original club and have reached proper density and tuning in your vape.

Of course lighter juices are easier but they still gunked with cotton. Let is know how much longer you went with Rayon compared to cotton when you finally decide to rewick the billow.

Sometime I run a tank dry and get a partial dry hit. A quick drip and Light swipe over the coil clears and absorbs the burnt juice. Barring a problem with the installation you'll be good to go again, or even extend the usability on a poor Wick job if you take it easy.
