I am quite specific with what I vape and they all use small coils. Billet boxes with bridge, carto tanks with Sophia's, Cubis tanks for my wood mods and an assortment of tanks that use CLR coils. Up until this ephiphany I was using braided silica which is as much trouble and you need to dry burn which can be an issue for the insulators. So I am quite practiced at the small stuff just not the rayon. :p

I kept meaning to pick up a Sophia or Diver for my cartotank, but never got around to it. It's probably a good thing I didn't because building on the Orchid tanks was a PITA for me! That was such a tiny build deck, in my eyes... The wicking part was easy, it's the coils that kicked my ....... ;)

I am still getting my head around the differences between rayon and other wicking materials.

So what is the troubleshooting rule of thumb with rayon. (For little coils as there is not much room or wick to adjust)

Over saturation needs more or less rayon?
Dryish vapour needs more or less rayon?

Very nice picture grid.

So many variables involved here.. Coil density and tails. Oversaturation is normal and more power is needed usually starting at +3w. But this is on a higher power scale.

A Tighter wick density will help slow or thicker tails would help.. Sometimes changing the diameter of the coil is needed to give more available density in the tails. I see your doing smaller coils that even the small wick slots on those and that could cause over wicking from the tank. But that all depends on how it wicks from the tank, smaller may be needed in some cases.

A Dryish vapor is almost always from a loose wick. If you push on the wick by the coil you'll see its not tight with the top of the coil. Unless the tails are not getting juice from the tank and the main wick is going dry.

Spaced coils increase coil saturation too, and usually like a little more power as well... But may be on that little head they don't need to be spaced that much as it give more juice to the individual coils. A small space is fine.. Spaced coils also last longer.

Copied this post into my info journal.

The mesh density is what I am using to control flow to the coil at the moment. This mesh is 400 (oxidised is a bit better than non oxidised) and seems to feed my 70% PG at the right speed.

I like to be prepared to troubleshoot if I need to and I am filing all this in the info banks. :p

Here you go, Krisma. A CE3 being rewicked . I used to keep 40 of them in rotation to get through a week or so.

The syringe is for size comparison.

Perfect. Thank you all for digressing back to this sort of vaping...I know it might be painful memories :p:p

Alright I'll have to jump in on this.. I happened to pull this evod out of the cabinet the other day. To fully decommission by stealing an oring for another project.. Been in there for almost 2 years, Still wicked up, believe it was . 8, 32g @1/6 for an ego. Just took the pic, so yeah the coils starting to get rusty.. Lol, but the Rayon still looks new.

The progression of mandrels is pictured. 3mm, 2.5, 2 , 1/16. I prefer the 2.5mm second from top now a days... I use the electrical tape to hold the leg while hand wrapping. (just happens to be green)

The Orchid deck blows, the screws blow, but the vape is awesome.

What were they thinking, when you try to put the second coil in the legs hit the other coil..I hate it.

I would suggest it's not a good idea to blow into an Aromamizer. I just tried it and had condensate spray out the air holes in all four directions! Messy!

I do blow through my Fogger V6s after refilling them to clear the chamber, below the deck, of any liquids that might accumulate down there, but that's not on a mod while firing and I keep a towel wrapped arounf it loosely to catch any spray. Lesson learned with the Aromamizer.

That's what I was getting to in my questions above. It may not be a UNIVERSAL technique to use on every tank or Atty. For example, I plan on trying rayon in the Cubis RBA, these tanks use a completely different airflow, blowing into one of these tanks will blow air into the juice cup as well as effecting tank pressure. I'll deal with some early odd tastes, rather then the issues I may force into some of my tanks.

No one else ever blew out the first hits before, just a new suggestion, so no worry! Just try it first! If you get the density remotely close it will be far better than cotton. You don't even know how much worse cotton tastes at break in. People never go back for a reason.

By blow I mean lightly no more than you pull through it when vaping and it shouldn't be an issue. If it is, don't do it, thousands of other people didn't, and had no issues.

LOL I still get lost out here in the big wide world but baby steps :p

It's getting better and I actually put a rebuilt BVC coil in one of my billet boxes. That is the ultimate test of faith because it's a PIA if you get it wrong. It vapes quite differently there than in a cerotank so I might need to tweak a bit more. (Using about a quarter of the roll) The flavour is quite strong but very clean. I put this up for the BB folks

That's EXACTLY how I used to do my Nautilus coils!

Do I wanna try a good NET? Forgive any drugged posts, but I am getting sick of my home brewed cuatard

Sure, and I will let you in on a secret...a bit of custard can really liven up an otherwise boring NET.
