Did you order from Delasco's? They want $4.00 shipping for the $3.50 medium rayon balls.

That's a real good deal... I recommend it because the size of the package and quality are good. The Rayon is noticeably better quality than Sally's. Out if the box Sally's is easier, delascos you have to unroll the balls but the Rayon is better, cleaner, and produced with a higher level of quality control.

A Tiny little Itty bitty package of these special cottons can cost more than that.

One bag of delascos can last you two years or more.. It's dirt cheap still for the best wicking material you can buy. One is typically enough. Don't sweat the shipping, it's worth it all day.

I've been using Delasco balls since they were first declared a viable rayon source. It's been over a year and I'm still using the same bag. I only tried a little of the Sally's that someone sent me a small sample of, but Delasco's is better quality with no knotted sections to deal with. You do have to unroll them, which can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it it's easy and you get at least 4 wicks from each one depending on the size of your coil.

Thanks everyone!:thumb: Ordered! Thanks for all your input! I hope I can successfully unroll. Since I'm a newbie. But I will certainly try my best.

I hope not. It shows:
Depth 4 mm
Height 20 mm
Width 5 mm

I'm thinking the O.D. is 4mm. If that's the case, the I.D. should be something like 3.4mm or possibly smaller if the dimensions shown are just rounded approximations. I bought some other pre-made coils from fasttech once and that seemed to be the case with those. I guess I'll find out soon enough. They'll still never fit in my Goliath even if I'm right though.
All good, let us know how they are when you get them. :thumb:

Does stainless disperse heat better, or are yall using it as tc

Both, faster heat and as a TC wire. SS is very convenient as it can be used in both modes, 430 has the higher TCR value but 316L works good too.

Not me. Ti all the way (and I only do TC nowadays)

It's like with cars. Just because everyone drives a Volkswagen, does it make the better car? ;)

Well, towards the end of the week I should have my ss wire, fly tying bobbins to control those wire spools, and Delasco rayon, then I can start experimenting. Looking forward to it. :)
What fun we're having! Yay!
I ordered some ss304 wire to try too.
