Jeremy Can I please use some of your information to debunk another lot of dribble on another forum.

This is what is being used as a reference

Sitting down, facing forward.
That's applying a study used to determine the results of combustion, IE rapid oxidation generally associated with flame production, when the materials are exposed to temperatures high enough to cause combustion. According to that, cotton is just as bad as rayon under those conditions. Of course, the fact that vaping does not cause combustion of anything might be a factor here that is missed due to the "sensational" wording but maybe I'm splitting hairs.

Can't cut and paste that, but...

"Toxicity of combustion products..." sets off alarm bells. If I burn my wick, I stop vaping!

Before I had a chance others piled in with comments so it's ok. My addition was that these were burning tests done on dry materials.

Sorry for the OT.

I finally got around to putting a BF screw in my Stumpy. I really should have done that first and not bothered converting the others... I now need more Stumpy's and more squnokers!!!

Don't burn and inhale dry cotton, or rayon...... Got it! ;)

Wait....what? I thought I was supposed to roll my rayon in cig papers and smoke it. No wonder I'm going through 500ft. so quickly!
Just kidding of course but you know the FDA loves misapplying these kinds of studies to further their cause. :-x
Maybe my wife and I should pitch all of our Rayon and Cotton clothes just in case our house catches on fire; the smoke could kill us!!

Ya know what the sad part is? People, and I use that term loosely, read stuff like that and don't even stop to think it through. They see rayon, cotton, combustion and toxic and immediately assume that heating it is the same as combustion. Common sense just doesn't enter into their thinking. Wonder if they know those nice, ornamental, scented, candles they burn have cotton wicks and all kinds of chemical to make them smell nice and look pretty? Ban it all I say, we must protect the children!

I'm getting the squonker bug as well. :D

The Stumpy has a small 510 screw (M2.5) that holds the center post in and the center post seems is hollow all the way to the top. So I drilled a 1.2 mm hole up through the center of the 510 screw and a 2mm hole down through the top of the center post. Don't forget to flush out the drill shavings from the center post. ;)

I looked at the FatDaddy M2.5 & M3 squonker pins which would be great to have, but the M2.5 would require a lot of modification to use in the Stumpy. Also he wants $14 now to mail an envelope to Canada, I'd need to get some 510 bases and other stuff to make that shipping worth while.

Good luck with the new squonk and if you find any truly exceptional BF RDAs please let me know. I have been pondering a NarDA, the Origen Little 16 and the DDP Typhon, all clones of course. ;)

My setup was hitting rather cold per se and I switched to watts mode at 25W vice TC at 550 to see if I could "kick start" the thing. Took a long pull and got the horrible feeling in the back of my throat knowing that it just overheated... cough plume, hack, hack, hack.

I knew the build was due for a refresher, but I was trying to make it last.

Anyways rinsed with water and pulled the wick. The coil was crusty however the wick was pearly white with a little bit of crusty remnants stuck to it. My conclusion is that the wick never burned and it was the coil crud that was burning off when the coil started glowing.

True believer that a "normal" dry hit is not the wick burning, but the crap on the coil is what gives the foul taste.
