Thanks, King.

To be clear, I was only referring to the original VT as well, vincom.

Okay, guys. I'm going for the record. I'm only 5 ml in, but after months of training and meticulous preparation, she's wicking beautifully and I'm feeling pretty good about my chances. What's the current record, again?

I think it's around 350-400ml

Nobody really has patience driving it further. It's not the wick that fails, it human nature.

So what you're saying is it would be the last wick I ever need if just I had the willpower? If that's the case, It'll probably go something like this:

You were happy with stainless steel wire, what happened that changed your mind?

My Atomic still has the same twisted 28g build in it from when I received the wire from Unkamen, still vapes flawlessly. I haven't used any other wire since switching to SS430 and don't foresee it anytime in the near future.

Dual 7 wrap on the Zephyrus has been treating me to an excellent trouble free vape, it was difficult to get it wicking correctly because the build deck is tiny but once dialed in....lookout.

I'm a temperature control convert, never thought it would happen but it did.

Depending on the flavor, probably for a long time. The wick has to be perfect though and avoid dry hit conditions (although rayon will survive most of them)

I kept mine for over 270ml but I just couldn't stand it anymore. I had to open it, peak inside and put a new wick... It still vaped the same afterwards.

I also had the same Ti coil for over 5 months before OCD kicked in[emoji14]

Well, this is the third wick I've put in this coil, so I'm intimately familiar with how this coil responds. It's 8 spaced wraps of 304 SS in my 7 ml Subtank Plus. I have it locked in, on my RX200, at .38 ohms with a custom TCR for 304 SS (0105) and I'm gonna try and keep it between 420 F and 480 F. As best as I can tell, the wick is as close to perfect as I could get it and it's performance so far indicates I got it just about right. I'm only on tank fill #2 (14 ml), but 1000 ml, here I come!

Oh, the juice probably isn't the best choice for this attempt, but it's not a horrible gunker and I like it. I've been making and using it for a while. Strawberry/Pineapple/Coconut, but I can clean and rinse if needed.

That's kinda cheating.[emoji14]I did 270ml without even peeking inside the chimney.

When the time came, I got a knife, a first aid kit and some hydrochloric acid ready as I didn't know what kind of creature could crawl out after so much time :D

Now seriously, with a gunker liquid, you'll probably have to clean and rinse from time to time ;)

300ml+ with kanthal, reports of more with temp control.

To really extend the usability of the coil without getting a bad taste on the coil is keeping the coil temperature below burning point and continuing draw after the hit to cool the coil, avoiding the afterburn of retained heat in the coil.. Also a nice tight wick that won't eventually align to smoothly and cause loss of contact with the coil...

An asymmetrical coil is important. My last coil had uneven coil diameters and the ends were tighter and middle looser. This obviously caused an issue similar to a loose wick. It was loosing contact in the middle and pinched at the ends

Used this about 100ml, but had some issues and wasn't able to run full power.

An asymmetrical coil is important.

One of the advantage of wrapping on an 1/8th" toggle bolt is that between wicks, you can screw it back into the coil and give it a slight upward tug to straighten and even everything up nice and pretty. It also has the beneficial side effect of scrubbing and cleaning the inside of the coil a little.

continuing draw after the hit to cool the coil, avoiding the afterburn of retained heat in the coil

It took me a while to learn this and adjust my vaping style, but I've found this little trick is particularly important with thicker SS wires.

From my experience it actually was working. No problems at the cool Temps that people run at. What everyone says for temp is way too cool for me. I can not vape like that. It's not the same potential as pumping straight voltage. Just too cool and weak. Yeah smooth but not enough punch for me. So I would run temp much higher, such that the temp would burn the juice if it went too dry. Kinda a false sense of security. And for some reason I didn't get the normal rayon warning.
Currently using a 28ss right now in vw mode. I have always run rayon at high Temps. Very high Flux. So temp control for cotton is just not for me.

The screws on my posts are a pain in the button. If I move the coil to align it side to side the ends get wacky. When tightened they pull the wire, so I cut a straight groove and lay my wire straight across that and tighten, no wrapping the screw anymore. That has helped a lot, especially with the flimsy wires.

So still using SS just in power mode.

I don't see how you vape so hot, on this Zephyrus it gets unbearable at about 500°. I have to assume it's because your running single coil or just have lungs O steel :)

What temperature control device are you using?

Well single coil yes. By nature the single will run much hotter than dual of course at same power. I'm about out of kanthal so yes latest coil was 28g SS 340. - Evic VT 60W is the mod.

Normally I only fire probably half the draw. 1-3 seconds. Light wire, Really fast, high heat, and then I let off, continuing draw for 1-2 seconds to cool coil and vape the residual heat off.

If you want to see how I vape make a single 28g 8wraps at 2.5mm. 2.5-3mm air. 40w. Quick short draw. Continue draw to cool coil. If you can hear sizzling right after your hit - your cooking juice to the coil. Extend cooling draw till the sizzle isn't heard just after the vape.

TC

To me it has something to do with the ramp up and exploding vapor. With tc it cuts and reduces the Power. For some reason the stabile temp is not the same as stable power. It loses that pop or aggressiveness from straight power.

Also I noticed my coils gunked faster with tc. It may be due to my vaping and taking weaker draws and not continuing the draw after hit because it was cooler and less aggressive. My vaping style weakened considerably with tc and I had to revert myself back to aggressive vaping style when I went back.

I may do some tc again since I can flip flop with stainless. It has its place, for me like maybe at night or if I'm under the weather. At these times my vaping weakens. But u can just as equally just turn the power down 5w and still get the vape of runaway voltage that is not capped. The capping takes away the heat potential and the punch imo.

Not saying tc isn't good, it's different and not all will like it as much as others. I don't get too down with it yet..

With rayon I don't have to. :)
