Funny to hear you lower your volts. I've been a set and forget watts vaper for the most part. With rayon, I might lower it in the morning when the TH is too strong, and raise it later in the day, down a little at night.
When I put rayon in my fogger v4, that's the first time I experienced what your talking about, I've been a huge cheerleader of both ever since!
Is there any consensus on close wound or tight wound coils?
All my coils are loose wound and I have no problems.
For the record I'm using:
Kayfun 3.1
Kayfun lite
Kraken Genesis
IGO-L
All with CCr (rayon)
My opinion is, if there is juice in the middle of the coil then how does it get vaporized if it is a close wound coil. A close wound coil would only vaporize from the shoulders. A loose wound coil would let juice come up thru the gap in the coils.
Just wondering. So far I'm happy with loose coils and Rayon.
I always had micro coils before and the rayon made them much better. But when I tried a non contact coil I thought it actually improved the vape. More th and pop in a parallel 32 build. The microcoil was a little smoother.
I wish they had done that with e-cigarettes (called it something else). Absolutely not cigarettes! That's why I recommend calling it what it is - rayon - not some name that has cotton in it because it's absolutely not cotton!
You can kinda tell by how hard it pulls when you tug on it through the coil to see how tight it is (at least with the Sally's one). It's fluffy, but there are some threads in there that give it substance. If there is a difference in the amount of rayon, that can also be hard to detect given the "fluffiness" of rayon.
I have noticed that rayon does cause juice to taste sweeter, I have vaped 200ml of the same strawberries and cream juice in various devices wicked with cotton and I instantly noticed the increase in sweetness on the R91. When I attempted to drip the same juice it was too sweet for my preferences.
It was more about the wicking ability of rayon. If there is more juice in the middle then where does it go?
I had one wick completely burn out in the middle. Maybe too much wick, too small a diameter, who knows.
Can you still edit the OP, Jeremy? It might be nice to have all these sources at the top of the thread (or some kind of summary of what we've learned so far, including your videos). Here's a source for rayon medical balls. Should be a good quality higher grade rayon if anyone wants to try. Should be very clean. 12.95 + shipping. If you've got a buddy near by you could split it.

I may pull this link later so it doesn't sell out..
That happened to me too. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the different sizes of molecules in e-juice. Maybe sucralose was getting stuck somewhere in my other wicks to keep it from come through in the vape, whereas it's certainly smacking me in the face now, with rayon. Before, I was having to add almost 4% just to be able to taste the sweetness. Now I add about 2% and it's still satisfying my crazy sweet tooth.
To me rayon seems to add a mist atomizer effect to the vapor. (or fully atomized?)
You can tell, when the wicks overly saturated, if you take a big pull you'll feel a mist in your mouth. It's not hot or anything just a warm mist. In addition to the vapor. I guess that's where I got - its like drinking your juice.
