Really? None of that U shaped wick craziness I saw with mesh? Just coil, wick with big long tail stuck down 1 hole? What about the other hole? Plug it?

Oh-Sure folks make my way look complicated.

By the way the fill hole or extra wick hole what ever I plug it with a thin drip tip that I trim off an old juice bottle. The reasoning is that it reduces the hole size to something very small but allows the tank to breath and not build up a big vacuum slowing the juice flow.

The zen pro atty comes with about a 1/32" inch hole that is not plugged for this very reason. YES - I know it will still work completely plugged but IMHO not as well. :p

I just stick a plug of cotton/rayon in the extra holes in my Gennys. The plug only has to be tight enough that it doesn't fall out.

BNEAT,

I love your sig statement. :)

I would go with a cotton plug. Rayon holds so much liquid for a very long time it probably wouldn't let your tank breath as well.

I have noticed this with my dripper I can have the CC wick LOADED with juice put it up for the night and the next day the deck is still dry and the wick looks just as loaded as it did the night before. The ability of CC to hold liquids is just beyond anything I have seen cotton do.

Anyway you plugs sound a lot easier than trimming old plastic drip tip bottles.

Just as Jeremy to have a moderator make a sticky with all pertinent data that Jeremy thinks is suitable at the head of the thread.

I know popular demand deems this... As soon as I get a chance I will work on it. I kinda didn't expect the thread to get this huge this fast.

In the mean time post away! Experiences, longevity, and how you describe the different type of vape you get with rayon.

Any questions, ask - we will try to help as nicely as possible.

Yeah, you're right, you do have to leave one hole open. (I've tried plugging all of them with cotton, but they won't wick) I added an extra hole in the decks of all of mine so I can fill them with any ol' bottle, and those are the holes I plug with cotton. Kinda funny, when I squeeze the bottle, the cotton rises up out of the hole, and when I let off, it sucks back down...sometimes all the way into the tank, Doh!

Sitting down, facing forward.
Jeremy, thanks for posting that video. It gave me a few hints that seem to have worked out really well for me. I had done an old T3 the other day and it worked, just not as well as I expected or wanted. I re-wicked it today after watching your video, stretching the rayon and then sort of combing it out before trimming. The size you used was a great hint as well. Anyhow, now that T3 is beyond what a ProTank, with a new coil, can do. Amazing! And I'm running it at 9 watts which in a regular T3 would burn just about any liquid.

I also did an iClear 30 with rayon and dual coils, my first attempt at a dual coil rebuild. I tried parallel coils, 33ga-4 ohms each, but it was a real pain to get things assembled properly. Instead I used a single piece of 29ga at two ohms wound into two coils at right angles to each other. I wicked it up with rayon and spent some time combing and trimming. When I filled the tank the first time, it took forever with all that rayon absorbing liquid. Once I got it partially filled I had to use a paperclip to reach in and move the rayon around so the liquids could flow all the way to the bottom of the tank. Anyhow, it works like heck and I've had it as high as 14 watts...I normally use an iClear 30 at 9 watts. It did get kind of warm at 14 watts, so I have settled on 12 watts an the flavor, vapor and throat hit are outstanding!

I have a similar problem on my Zen Pro. When I use XC-116 and fill thru the very small hole (just a smidge bigger than my blunt needle) it will actually pump liquid up and out the hollow XC-116 running all over the place.

I finally discovered that if I push the blunt down thru the hollow XC-116 and fill that way the problem is solved the small fill hole that the ZAP has allows enough air to flow out without it's "Old Faithful" simulation. ;)

With CC on my RSST I don't have that problem because the fill hole is about 2.5 mm and allows air to escape without pumping fluid up and out the wick.

As soon as I finish the tank on my ZAP I will re-wick with CC. It should prove interesting to see how hard it is to fill without juice going everywhere.

Awesome41, glad it helped! I would add audio but I do them late at night and don't want to wake the wife and kids.;) I'll do another when I rewick this maybe this weekend.

I would have just trimmed the tails and left them but on the flashi you want half the wick going to the deck. That's the only reason I split it if that's what your talking about.

Anyone recognize the motion I use to lay the fibers down when getting the wick ready? Lol

By the way props on rebuilding an Iclear.

Bottom feeder I take it .. Are you sure it's not loose from the inside of coil? That would cause that, good flavor till the juice on the top of coil burns off on too long a drag or high power.. However it could be too tight in the coil. It really shouldn't have shoulders just straight out flush with outside diameter of coil.. Does it look like the pics I posted of mine. My tails are longish and I can dry te deck before it gets dryish.

. If you could post a pic that would of course be great

this picture is of the fogger v4.3.
i built and wicked it when i first got cc about 2 weeks ago?....
anyway, it was a .47ohm build and id vaped some pretty sweet stuff in it.
hasnt been touched for 2 weeks and i would be honest to say at least filled at least once, more often like twice a day.

pretty nice looking still eh?...... no flavor loss that id noticed.
there is crud on the coils, but after looking at it through a magnifying glass,
id say if it was cotton, it would be the same amount after a couple of days.
awesome shiite id say!!!!

I've got 2 Genesis style tanks here. Took one look at the mesh in the little package that came with each, sighed and put them away. I just don't have the patience to learn how to do mesh wick. Call it old dog syndrome if you want ;)

I'd be extremely appreciative if someone would post a CCr build on any genny type tank. Or give me post # in this long thread that I missed.

Search this thread for posts by me. I haven't been at it long. Most of my posts have been about my RSST and AGA-T2.

So I gots a question...my tails are still wet even when I'm getting a dryish hit from my coil? Could they be too long? Too thick and bushy? I get good flavor so I hesitate to say coil is choked

On my Reo RM2s I have short tails, they just touch the deck but no more than that. Not sure if you are using an RM2 but if you are then you might try shorter tails. And also everything Jeremy said about the density versus too thick or too thin.

I pre-wet my rayon and squeeze it so it's pretty compact, then when I thread it into my coil my wicks dont shrink and they then work perfect like that for many days. Pre-wetting is a bit messy .. LOL .. but is worth it to me because it allows me to make my wicks look exactly like Jeremy's pictures of his wicks with the perfect density.

If there's nicotine in your e-liquid, be careful not to touch it with bare hands while priming the wick. Obvious perhaps, but still.. ;)
Meh. Yes, I realize nic can be absorbed through the skin, but at whatever concentration you vape at, getting a bit on your fingers isn't likely to so much as give you a buzz. At least it doesn't give me one, so I don't sweat it much. I'll usually wipe it off with a damp paper towel and wash my hands when I'm done fiddling with my stuff. No biggie. Now if you're DIY'ing juice and messing with nic base that's well above the concentrations you vape at, then considerably more caution is probably warranted.

I use 6mg juice and often have juice on my hands. I just wash them after I'm done messing around or rebuilding.

Sent from my Galaxy Note 3 via Tapatalk.
I have gotten effects from 6mg through skin... but it was the one time I forgot to put the fill screw back in my Fogger. But with higher nicotine fluid (18, 24), it is definitely something you want to at least wipe off immediately if not go and wash your hands.

Again, I think it depends much on what you normally vape -- because that determines your tolerance. If you vape 6 and get 18 on you, it may well produce noticeable effects. But if you vape 18 (or 15 like I do) and you get some of that on your fingers (which have pretty thick skin), no biggie.

At one point when I first started vaping, my wife (who's never smoked) said: "Hey, that smells good!". So I asked her, "Wanna try it?" She took one hit (18 mg at the time) and got a heck of a buzz. No nic tolerance at all. :D
