i thought i saw someone a little way back mention something about a magma not wicking to good with rayon, i remember it was a french guy, well anyway, i thought it was just me and ive tried a few differant things now with the wicking and cant seem to get it perfected in the magma, i get dry hits when there seems to be juice in the bottom of the well, but saying that, its quite difficult to see exactly whats going on, the only things i can think of is that the 45deg angle the wick needs to take from the coil end's to the bottom of the well is to sharp and is choking itself or that after wicking the coil's there is just to much rayon down in the well, i've tryed cutting the ends of the rayon so i have ends like pointed brushes but it just seems to fluff the rayon up even more, which creates even more mass.
i'm using 1/16th id dual coils, 26g, 6 or 7 wraps each, so theyre not long coils that would crease the rayon coming out the end bending down into the chambers.
if i use non rayon cotton then everything is fine.
does rayon have an issue with being bent?
the only other thing i can think i can do do is to make the 1/16th coils into nano's so as there is less wick coming down into the chamber...

its not a big issue but just curious as to if anyone else has had issues with anything like this & wether its likely to too much mass in the chamber or the bend of the rayon

About tencel :
I find that it doesn't absorb juice at all after the initial soak. In fact i can put 1ml of juice in my magmas with cotton but with tencel it's full with 0.5...
Still looking for some fluffly rayon type in france, the only I found looked the same as tencel tops.

Check on ebay. I bought a meter of CC for about $4 from an ebayer in the UK. It took just 3 days to get to Switzerland.

I have been using Rayon in a Magma for a couple weeks without a problem, however I use it on Reo so I squonk every couple of hits. I have gone up in coil size to 5/64" id and found it works better for me. I just use enough for slight resistance in the coil. The pic below is a parallel 28ga at .67 ohms. I do try to make sure the wick does not turn downward at a severe angle when it leaves the coil. More of a arch if possible than a fold and just touching the bottom of the well.

I saw dimitri's and he wasn't a big fan due to a sour taste. I also saw z vaper's awhile back. I didn't try rayon soley based on his opinions.

An Opinion of someone that doesn't know how to use rayon.

It slightly annoys me that people are in other threads talking about their first experience with it, many times not even knowing how to use it. So what ever they say is essentially meaningless... :)

Provided as a FYI only...

Was listening to modenvy, the weekly Vapor Joe's giveaway net broadcast, and they mentioned using rayon for wicks. Pretty much dissed it. VJ said for example what if someone in China went down to a local store and bought rayon, who knows what's in it. The whole caustic chemicals used in the making of it and how cotton is so pure, etc. Basically the silliness mentioned here that was easily rebutted.

That's fine, well keep the finer things in life for ourselves. If everyone's doing it it's no longer something unique we can cherish. And revel in our better vape.

I recoiled and wicked an Innokin i30 today. The one with the 16 strand silica dual coil. I put in a single 2.5Ω coil with rayon trimed to 1/4 inch and a strip in the top slot. Working just as good or better than the original.

Paul,

I re-wicked one of my Kanger Pro Minis with CC.

Now for the story; I use pro tanks mostly for when I am out and about also in the initial few months of vaping. When I got my hands on a Provari and a couple of better tank systems i.e. ZAP and Kayfun it was hard for me to use the Kanger replaceable coil tanks. They didn't taste bad but different than my good tanks sort of a disappointing taste if that makes any sense.

Short story after replacing the silica in the Kanger coil I can't notice any difference between it and my other tanks weather they are wicked with XC-116 or CC and I don't have to suck on the Kanger mini like sucking a milkshake thru a straw the CC wicks quit enough with half the effort.

God that was a long story just to say I agree with you. I am going to have to slow down on the Mtn-Dew.

PS - I now use strickly CC in my Kayfun, Dripper and just as soon as I need to re-wick the ZAP I will use CC.

Ya z vaper stated that lol. I may have to put in an order soon. I'm always looking for a better way to increase flavor with my origen v2 and magma.

I had some top coils before the i30 and just got use to waving the magic wand as a habit. I mostly use a rayon wicked gennie and tilt it as well. I tried longer wicks in the i30 but they seemed to get in the way and took up fluid capacity. The short ones wick so well that I don't feel the need to have long ones, but yes, I still tilt and roll.

Here is an opinion. "If" I happen to dry burn to the point of smoking the rayon, I doubt I will get the amount of smoke from that as I will from walking past a smoker and inhaling second hand smoke.

Side note on the i30, I am at 10 watts on my MVP. I've never vaped that high before. Home made NET. Good stuff.

The MSDS sheet for Rayon says when burnt "the combustion products mainly are compounds of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, including carbon monoxide". Sounds safer than burning a sheet of paper to me.

7th day update on rayon in the R91 running a 66/34 of Boba's and Gambit at 4-5 ml per day.

There were a few days that the taste seemed to be meh.
Was reminded that we tend to 'lose' the flavor when we vape something regularly regardless.
Flavor came back a couple days later - I think due to the way Boba's is thick and globular at times and how it carries flavor due to the mix.

Tonight the R91 was getting pretty hot and the airflow was reallllly bad, resulting in cigalike vapor production.
Tore down the R91 and found the coil HEAVILY gunked up with e-liquid remnants.
It was nearly twice the size as when it went in and clearly blocking airflow.

Rayon was intact, if a little stained by the heavy, sweet, and dark e-liquid.
Could have easily re-used the rayon but it tore/separated while trying to clean the coil and remove the wicking.
Wish I'd taken a picture, but by that time my wineglass need refilling....

Coiled and wicked the second R91 while the last one was soaking and WOW it's back going full steam.
Went with a smaller diameter coil this time to up my wattage into crazy realms like 13
Raised it a little higher off the deck to determine longevity and improve TH.

One thing I did differently was to fire a few times after wetting the wick, like in most YouTube videos, which I never do.
This seemed to eliminate any initial 'off' taste completely.
Yes I always torch my coils and dry fire them first.

Going to run this for a week and see the result again, but very pleased so far.
KGD would have had to be re-wicked on day 5 or 5.5 simply due to clogging up with schmutz.

Next stop... squonking on rayon with the Red Sky Mods Cruiser with a Cyclone BF.

Hello 1 Ohm and rayon, goodbye everything else :)
