Ok!

Well after getting my rayon today... I now have rewicked EVERYTHING I USE with it.

Sold! Great stuff!

Awesome in my Kayfuns. Great in my Magma. Great in my Atomic.

Now what to do with the other 490 feet of my 500 feet of rayon! This house will never want for cottony fluff again!

Glad it is going good for you. Not everyone has an easy go at first... learning curve is a little steep for some of us. ;)

Just think this time next year you will probably still have 480 feet left. :toast:

This thread was educational. I find the rayon really easy to use. I use a bit less through the coils than I would with cotton and it seems to work just fine.

I am amazed how much juice the rayon will give up before a hint of a dry hit occurs. It's dang near dry!

I know exactly what you mean. I find that I have more trouble with adding too much juice to my dripper because I can't make myself believe it still doesn't need more juice. My biggest problem now when dripping is juice running out the air hole.

Nelconm64, give it some time and fool with how much you're putting in. It can be hard to find that "sweet spot" at first, but it's well worth the effort.
I plan on giving it a fair shake and, i hope it grows on me because I have enough of the damn stuff to last 30 years lol.

I still get reduced vapor and 'coil crud' after 3-4 tanks, regardless of cotton or rayon - not sure what I'm doing wrong.

This is with 1/16 or 5/64 coil, between 1.4 - 1.8 ohms, running 10-12 watts on a Provari on the Russian.

On the Elf Queen, I'm using a 3/32 coil, 1.8 ohm, running 12 watts...got 4 tanks before the vapor reduced, still had coil crud.
If I don't use enough Rayon, my coils will gunk up in just a couple of tanks full. If I get it just right I can make them last for 30+ml. (I actually got about 45ml on one occasion, but the last 5ml took about 30watts to make decent vapor, LOL) If It wasn't for Rayon, I probably would've given up on Boba's: I was getting so tired of all the maintenance and wasted/burnt juice associated with it. Instead, I ordered a half a liter of the stuff during their 4th of July sale:facepalm:...thanks JeremyR!

I have a question for JeremyR...

Finally got around to watching your video and CCr has been working well enough for me and I'm not a big fan of videos online, especially YouTube, so watching it got delayed. You're making a wick for a dripper that ends up perhaps an inch and a quarter or so long. Yet you started with 6" or more in length. Granted, the smallest size of Sally's is 750', but still why so much that the ends you trim are longer than the wick you're making?

I guess I missed this post bsoplinger, just ran across it.

There is a reason I use a much longer piece than needed. If you cut it too short you won't be able to stretch it to the right density. Also you get the coil centered on a nice even wick.

I've got the rayon a fair bit tighter in the coil than with cotton - even stretched, it's snug enough that I have to brace the atty when pulling through the coil.

JeremyR any chance of posting you video's in a consolidated post or in your blog?

If you have the time it would be appreciated. I searched the thread but couldn't find them and with only a couple pages to skim through I'm not sure how I missed them......

The Thread search tool is a good way to find things in the thread.

Here's a link to the recent tutorial, it's just a hands on video..

Here is a link to the post with the first video I made. It's more of a showing the material. The way I made the wick was not correct. I was trying a different way and it did not turn out well.

Unrelated but have you tried letting go of the fire button before the end of your drag? To cool the coil slightly so it's not hot & baking the juice for a few seconds after your vape.

Ah-ha... now the secret comes out.

I have not even given that a thought but it sounds like a winner to me. OK I am off to practice my vaping technique. Hope it is not as hard as rubbing your stomach and patting your head.

Let go of the button before ending the pull... yup got it.

Yeah vaping works a lot better that way.

Say you've got 28 gauge and you get it nice and hot pulling air over it. Then when you stop pulling air the coil is at maximum temperature. It takes the wire a while to cool down on its own so it will just cook your juice during that time as it cools inside a nearly sealed chamber. So let off the button 1/2 sec or so early and it will cool the coil down significantly. The heavier the gauge of wire the longer it will retain heat. Chambered atties hold more heat than drippers. All reasons to let off early, the specific time early will vary with gauge and atty design. But any amount of let off is better than none even if it's just momentary.

You guys didn't know that? :)

Jeremy... No I didn't know that. Also let me tell you it is not as easy as one might think after doing the wrong way for over a year now. I was just practicing your method and almost blew my lungs when I got confused about witch to stop first. "Old dog new tricks"

And stop laughing it ain't funny. :vapor:

Yeah vaping works a lot better that way.

Say you've got 28, 26 gauge and you get it nice and hot pulling air over it. Then when you stop pulling air the coil is at maximum temperature. It takes the wire a while to cool down on its own so it will just cook your juice during that time as it cools. So let of the button 1/2 to a second early you'll continue to get vapor while it cools.

It's all these newbies I tell ya. Ready to sub-ohm with parallel 22g wire, without knowing how to roll a pyramid tea-bag wick. Sheesh!!

Never did the tea bag wick, but I *did* have a package of blue aquarium filter for stuffing 510 cartridges.

Oh - and don't forget the drink stirrer straw trick...
