Sitting down, facing forward.
You need enough in the coil so that when you pull it through the coil it squeaks. Depending on the wire gauge it may even distort the coil a little as you pull it through. If that happens, just re-arrange the wraps of the coil, then trim the tail and you're good to go. Remember, rayon wick shrinks when it gets wet.

So am I supposed to stuff the cr@p out of the coil? I thought I put too much in but after I got some eliquid on it it's got a gap between the coil and the rayon now.

Yes coming from cotton you need a lot more than you can imagine.

Well you've done the first step. Too little, Now use more. Check it for a gap after you start vaping it. If you have any problems vaping it (dry hit, ect.) check the wick for contact. It can take up to a tank of juice or 3-4 ml before its completely down to true size. As you get closer to the right density the length of time before it loses contact will be longer and longer.

Eventually you will put too much in and you will taste the nuttiness from the rayon. Then you kniw you need just a little less.... Sometimes tasting it for a few hits is OK. Its not perfect but you know there's enough.

Check out this video. There is no commentary but listen closely when I pull the wick through the coil. You will hear the squeak type noise.

There's a certain feel you need to get for it. The ways you can stretch it close to tighten it up going through the coil, and also stretch it far apart to reduce the density. You finesse it through with the two stretches. Thats how you can get it tight enough in the coil.

OK I may have missed.. What Atty wire and power level are you using. With this type of thing a decent picture can really help too.

There's a lot of juice on your coil, like its flooded. This is probably causing the popping in your case. You've never had this much juice being delivered to the coil before. Rayon just releases juice to coil like crazy.

Is the flavor just juice or did you taste the rayon yet.

Off topic: I don't think one needs to be a truck driver to realize that to get to Riverside, California from San Francisco, California you don't go through Lubbock, Texas

Check this USPS Tracking number out: LN643135085CN

Maybe not but it looks like it might help.

With the first wick it tasted kind of funny, but when I stuffed it with a bigger wick I don't seem to taste the rayon, or don't know what it tastes like.

This is my wick/coil:

8 wrap twisted 28g. It kind of spread apart after I stuffed so much rayon in.

My last order from FT (Kraken clone) was postmarked Zurich!

Thanks for the responses on the snap/crackle/pop people- much appreciated. FWIW at one point I had to use an over wick to keep hot juice from popping into my mouth on long draws. This was when using the Kanger type bottom coil heads but now that I'm not getting any real sizzle, let alone the big pops like I used to, there's less need to use an OW other than to fine tune juice flow to the coil. I'm gonna rewick w/some of the last of my med bottle rayon and see if there's any change in the sizzle. I thought I had done this already but I'm not that sure the rayon I used then was really the med bottle stuff I first used. This time I'll be sure.

Hey raguvian..

The build looks good. Density in the coil, from what I can tell, looks good so far too. Give it 3-4ml to be sure its settled then you won't have to worry about wick reduction.

So the popping seems like a lot of juice on your coil just blowing up... it that what it seems like to you?

I'm a little stumped by this because until recently no one has ever said anything about a popping problem. Admittedly I find popping to be good but not if its burning your mouth.

See how this turns out as we go, but if you run a short drip tip you may have to actually try to slow down wicking or adjust something with the rayon wick to alleviate that.

The bad taste on the first wick job was the coil drying, overheating, and burning your juice.

Oh I space my coils purposely, works better than touching coils.

Tonight it was -10 degrees, and my rayon wicked KFL+ clone worked and worked flawlessly. Effortlessly. Not a single pause, no dry hits like with cotton with temperature changes. Hit it -- and there you go: vapor and flavor as fast as I can hit the button :) Not leaking, gurgling or flooding. Did I mention not a single dry hit?

I am impressed. :toast:

Crap man its 3°f here -13°wind chill, my 95%vg juice is not wicking in my 2wind rda very good. It is built like the magma and if its not 75%full i have to lean it, when it real low i have to hit it upside down lol. I think i might have to go back to 2 tails and make em a little thicker hopefully that will solve my problem
