I've been vaping on it a bit now. No more backfiring and only some occasional popping. Does rayon need to "break in"?

I've noticed I can drip more into the rda before it gets full. I guess it's because the rayon wicks faster than the cotton? Either way, I'm loving it and I'll be sticking with rayon. I'm going to give some of my rayon to my vaping buddy and if he likes it, we'll be getting the giant 500 foot box and splitting that (although, trying to split 500 feet of rayon evenly is going to be interesting...).

haha you can try to split it by weight, instead of feet. ;)
Digital postal scale, maybe?

Do you vape the same flavor? Is there any way to "clean out" flavors so I can use the same wick again? I like how it's hitting now and would rather not mess with it for the time being.
Rayon doesn't hold on to flavor. Whatever flavor you switch to will show up within a couple of hits. Might be a different story for the stronger flavors though (like cinnamon or menthol). But I've personally never had to rinse in between flavors.

Check out this video. There is no commentary but listen closely when I pull the wick through the coil. You will hear the squeak type noise.

There's a certain feel you need to get for it. The ways you can stretch it close to tighten it up going through the coil, and also stretch it far apart to reduce the density. You finesse it through with the two stretches. Thats how you can get it tight enough in the coil.

RAYON wick installation - JeremyR:

Jeremy, thanks, great video!

Could you please comment further on the two ways of stretching. It looks like initially going through the coil, you stretch it with your fingers far apart. Then you slide the Rayon back and forth through the coil stretching it with your fingers closer. You also try to make both ends of wick have equal density. Is this observation of mine accurate?

Thanks.

I had to just develop a feel for that. Sometimes one way works better than the other. Also, sometimes when your fingers are too far apart, the rayon tears on you. :grr: Then closer fingers works better. Not all the time - sometimes I get a length of Sally's that's just inconsistent like that.

We currently have one of each. The cat (black Manx stray who came along a few years ago when my Momma cat was ill and dying- he groomed her and cared for her as if they had been together for a lifetime) will come to a call, follows me around the property as I work and generally tags along. Dog (8 month old Peekapoo- need I say more?) on the other hand refuses to come when called, runs amok when she feels like it, barks for no particular reason and is generally a pain in the ....- and cute and affectionate as can be. But they absolutely love one another and both are 'special' in their own way and I wouldn't trade either of them for anything.

Back on topic, well sort of anyway, there's a used Protovapor XPV DNA 40 w/extras for sale at VU, asking $180.00 shipped...

Yeah I just got over this problem with the 100vg juice. Man I fought it for a while but you have to thin the vg in these temperatures I'm over 10% water now. Molasses just doesn't flow. Theres just no way around it. I wish I would have done sooner cause its vaping excellent still very high vg 85%+.

Its a lot easier to add thinner and works much better anyway.

Well crap i just got to my bottle of 100vg nicotine, i was using an almost 50/50 blend and with my adv extracts i was using 15% flavor so i was always around 75-80vg. Looks like ill have to make another saline solution and water this down :banghead: lol

This post makes me want a cat even more now. The only thing stopping me from getting a cat is that I work 60+ hours a week and don't want to leave the cat alone all by itself everyday.

You got it!

You just have to play with a piece to see what the two forms of stretching do for you. Far grip thins it, close grip compresses it for getting through the coil. Try to get it even on both sides.

Its a dance of both to get it through snug and even..

Click in my channel I have 4 others.. All just hands on.. Re orded with an iPhone.. I guess I got shy and didn't say anything on the kids; but you see what's going on..

Woofer,

I did qualify my opinions as very scientific gut level opinion. He may be right as rain I don't know I would just like to see where all the money that is donated is going. You can give money to a lot of big name non-profits organizations and consider yourself lucky if 20% goes to the intended purpose.

Plus if he was a Biologist, Chemist and preferably both I would be a little less skeptical.

I took a looked at the link you posted and will have to give it some more serious perusal.

To be perfectly honest at the moment I don't really care what they find (except some garbage the will get more government intervention). The last statement is not actually any disrespect for anyone or any data studies but based on the fact that within weeks of quitting cigs. and taking up vaping I sleep better, feel better and even wake up feeling good. I had believed that waking up feel drugged and groggy was normal I never associated it with smoking. Sort story - is I am going to vape even if they find it is only 10% less harmful than cigs at least I will die feeling good. ;)

By the way Woofer if you stumble on any articles that have data on where the money he collects goes and/or pictures of his laboratory facilities I would appreciate it if you would PM them to me. In the mean time I will promise not to pick on Dr. F. in the future unless someone catches him with his pants down.

PS - There is absolutely nothing personal between you and me as far as I am concerned save your objective and my subjective opinions on Dr. "F" :toast:

Agreed, we are good and always were HolmanGT :toast:

Thanks again. I'm getting closer to optimum fill. I was over stuffing it getting the nutty Rayon flavor for the first 6-7 hits. My last builds I didn't over stuff as much and thus no initial nutty flavor. No dry hits either but I feel like some extra juice is slipping in through the cracks. I need to fluff up the wicks with a toothpick in between refills. That makes it fine. Next round, I'll try what I've seen in this video. I'll try to get it squeak when I slide the Rayon back and forth without getting the coil yanked.

Edit: Also, I wasn't evening out the two sides by sliding back and forth as you show in the video. I think the side with the lower density "leaked" in some juice after a while.

Swapped my CelluCotton this morning after 115mL ran through it... coil is still running strong though. I now have some TIDI in there... only took me about 1/4 of a ball... including the bits I clipped off.

* Rayon wicking is the best wick for vaping *

I had to re-read first sentence only 10 times, to make sure you didnt vape 115ml of juice since this morning. Lol.
