Begs the questions, has anyone tried both methods? Any noticeable differences between using one over the other?

I used to trim the top shorter, but every once in a while my rayon would shrink away from the last coil on top and make a hot spot. It only happened a couple of times, but still, a burnt hit is a burnt hit. Besides that, trimming the bottom didn't make it taste any better as far as I could tell.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I was trimming with the bottom longer when I started but switched. Now I can't say for sure, I just vape and enjoy, but I think that the top being longer actually supplied more liquid, maybe a function of speed of propagation of the liquid as it wicks up or something. Beats me at this point, but now it's just habit. I am using Fogger 4.1 and a Erlkonigin clone by the way.

Dang Troll I could have easily packed that vinyl in some if I had only known! You should be getting it soon. :)

Much Thanks, gonna check the mail tonight for turtle tracks.
Supposedly the box is only $15 here so I am stopping in on my way home tonight to see if they have it in stock. Yes I should have Rayon for life!
One of the tenants in my building has started rebuilding, so I'll give him some as he has been curious about it. Another convert in the works! :D

Wow, there is actually one on the way home!

Many Thanks Woofer!

Now which number box is it that we get? 44043 Yes?

Smallest one that says 100% rayon. It will be more than enough.

Those Sally's are all over, its quite amazing how many of them there are.. right on your way home, couldn't get any easier.

Sorry I haven't. Mine always works well enough, maybe I'll try the undercut next time, actually in the FEV its cut to go to the side, I could pull the tail across it I guess, which would be the same.... I'll have to try it In a dripper.. For all I know it could work better for different scenarios.

Every rewick can be a different density so its not exact. To me if there's enough density it impossible to lose contact with the edge of coil. My test is to push on it and make sure there's not a gap so...

My number of atties is limited so i cant say for sure... I only know how the fiber works generally.

Have tried both ways in a few attys (all tanks); among them KFL+v2, KF v4 and Aqua v2 and unfortunately the results were inconclusive. The problem is, I change builds too often to ever get to the point where there would be much noticeable wear and tear on the wicks or coils. If I had to guess I'd say long top was maybe a bit more forgiving as far as coil density goes- but that could be my imagination. What I have found is the density of the tails is the most important thing for longevity and all around good vaping.

Something I'm doing now is putting a one-piece, pre-thinned "tail" through the coil first followed by 'needle threading' in the filler for the coil. The main advantage is I don't do any fiddling w/the tails- no thinning, etc. Once the coil filler is in, it gets cut off very close to the coil, leaving the tail piece to be trimmed to length. This takes me 1/2 the time than doing it the usual way. So far, up to 15 watts it has worked w/o any problems but until I crank it up I can't call it 100% successful.
