I agree, y'all are a great bunch and I enjoy this thread immensely.
I haven't commented much lately because I've been preoccupied with a little ménage à trois I have going. Rayon and I have brought in a third, Stainless Steel, and it's a beautiful thing. I think I'm in love. I'm not positive how they feel about me, but they are treating me right, so I can only assume it's reciprocal.![]()

Which grade?
I'd take out a prenuptial anyway - just in case ...
We should get a Rayonati ring to secretly identify the members among us...
Any takers for a 3d project?
Regards
Tony

I'm now the proud owner of 500 feet of CC after a visit to the local Sally's. I think there is a learning curve, based on what I've read, to get to that "sweet spot". I am not into sub-ohm or RBAs at all so it may take some time to arrive at the best configuration. I rebuilt a PT head and a CE3, yeah I know "ancient" stuff, but they all work for me and a CE3 on an auto cig-a-like can't be beat for hands free operation. Both work acceptably well but not with the knock you down vapor/TH/flavor that has been reported with RBA stuff. I do think I might have gotten carried away with how much CC I used and will be cutting it down in my next attempt. Based on what I see, so far, I have enough CC to last me well into the next century and I have four ounces of Tencel on the way as well. One of the big side benefits is that there are no shards of silicon associated with CC, a big plus IMHO.
So, what am I....chopped liver?![]()

I've been watching this thread from the beginning and would love to try rayon wicks. The tencel top looks a little strange and hard to manage. I've been searching for rayon balls, but mostly what I've found are large quantities of 4000 balls that cost $30 and up. I found one source of 1000 balls for $15 but they charge $10 for shipping. Can't win for losing.
I just went back to the beginning and looked, I chimed in at post 128. Deng!Nope, your an early adopter and first to get delascos medical balls..
You entered the thread at post 234 ! Thanks for all your support.
Its been quite a ride!
All the ups and downs...
Wait was there ever a down.. I don't think so.. Just epic battles with the hive mind.
.
Initial impression of rayon is it beats cotton at everything except juice retention which is both good and bad.
Just wanted to thank SteamHead for sending out a massive sample.
And on a funny note, soon as I opened the package my wife said (from 5 feet away) "You can get that at Sally's" without me telling her what it is or what it's for.
I bought some 430 28 gauge. 0.0084 resistivity...304. I don't need the added molybdenum in 316 (which is added mostly for protection against corrosive salts) for any reason I can think of.

Mandrel has nothing to do with it. I measured out 1 meter and read it with a multimeter. 8.5 Ohms. Divide by 1000 = .0085 Ohms per mm. I input that into Steam Engine's custom resistivity field and my coil calcs come out spot on.Love the 28/430
I have it as 0.0074 ohm/mm by may be because my mandrel is smaller than I think.
