You may not be priming it enough it will take a lot of juice if you keep adding and waiting 20sec add more until it can hold no more. Or you have it a little too tight. Hope this helps get you the instant satisfaction. I notice no break in time when I do it.

thanks for the tip. I had it well saturated. Thinking it was just new coil and not the wick at all.. Taste was right on and wicking well..
I've done a bunch of builds with it already this week on many devices. All are working great!

Ok, I've been following this thread for a week now and decided to give it a try. I found an old bottle of Melatonin in my cabinet but I'm not sure if the stuff is Rayon or cotton. I've been using Rami for a few weeks now, but it's a little tricky (stiff when wet). If anyone wouldn't mind sending a bit of the cellucotton from Sally's for me to try, I love you long time. ;)
hey man, pm me your address and I'll get you some on the way [emoji106]

Unfortunately shipping is free on orders over $85 :(
Responded immediately since I'd looked at this before when it was first posted and saw how much their minimum was. Didn't realize others caught it already.

AndriaD, most folks seem to not find any break in needed or just a few puffs, others have said a few minutes. But I haven't been keeping track of what atomizer they were using. Perhaps break in is dependent on either build style or atomizer or both.

OK, got my rayon sample. Big shout out to fellow member xtreme101! First wick was on my Vortex atty and I was overenthusiastic with the wick, used to much so I pulled some out and let it sit. The flavor ready didn't grab me so I let it sit for another 30 minutes or so and BAM, the flavor and vapor better than any cotton that I've tried to date. The only thing that can stand up to it for atty wicking IMO is 3mm ReadyX. Second was my Sofia and all of the probelsm that I was having with cotton in it were solved as soon as I got the right amount in there, delicious flavor and vapor like a dripper! Third was my Kayfun 3.1 and the flavor was so intense that I had to back the voltage down. This stuff is simply great, next project is recoiling and wicking my three sucky Protank 2's that I haven't used for a long while, betcha they shine with rayon too:)

Well I got some put in my Russian 91. Gotta say it did kick up the production. The taste is not as full as in my dripper of course but it is still good. I did notice it took a good bit of time for it to produce. I wet the wick before putting it back together and all that, but once it started it was good. Can't wait for my 40 footer to come in. The vaper is cooler but more intense. :toast: Edited later: OK The flavor is starting to come through now, and the clouds are starting to come through now too.

i was so confident in rayon as a wick...that ive tried something i never would have considered with cotton.....

i put dual coils on the taifun.....lol
28ga..5/64 drillbit...10 wraps(cause i had some laying around premade for the pt's).. .9ohms...
coil on top of coil
man its pretty damned good!
takes a little bit to heat up.....but more importantly
NO WICKING ISSUES !!!!.......btw..its pretty juicy....
dont think ill keep this one in....not low enough

i never would have considered this with cotton

What are you using it in? How would you rate your results when you used cotton?

When you get it wicked right the very first hit will blow your socks off... When done right there is no delay or breakin. It's user error.. It will take you a bit to get it down but it's much easier than cotton for sure

I think it was what Doots said, the coil breaking in, not the rayon -- it vaped like a champ after a little while! I got my evening-kayfun ready, got it going, but after a few minutes, the great vape kinda went away. I checked it, and it more-or-less filled the coil, but not really.. so I took that one out and put in another, and it's doing much better. But apparently there's a way to just supplement what's there, rather than yanking out one wick to put in another?

It really does vape well! But given how it does kinda compress or shrink after it's really saturated, I sure would love to know how to do that supplementing thing.

I also got my ARO Pyrex wicked with rayon, and it's also great! It wasn't as hard to get into that tiny coil as I feared it would be. But, I couldn't take too many hits on that, it's got some 10mg Pineapple in it, for mornings, and that's way too strong for evenings; my heart would be hammering to beat the band. But that Pineapple sure did taste yummy, using a rayon wick. :thumb: Definitely gotta get some of this rayon into my caterpillar for some of the 6mg pina colada. :D

the taifun was hitting great with dual coils.......so what did i do?
made it a .6ohm dual coil taifun......
for a taifun it hits beastly!!...and i was about to shelve it....
the rayon keeps up all the way....real long hits....short hits...no problems whatsoever....
i think i might keep the taifun in the rotation for awhile longer

Just finished a 3X boil and oven dry of the tencel fiber I got in yesterday. A little tangled from the boiling but I got a good piece into my Vortex and WOW!!!! I know this is a rayon thread but technically tencel is just rayon anyway so.... Big surprise!! I like it better than the CC!!! I'm getting all of the vapor and taste that I want but not the "juiceyness" that I get from the rayon. The taste is more subtle and the cloud denser, for me anyway. It's hard to position though, I'm kind of dreading trying to wick a Kayfun or Protank with it but on my drippers I can push it around enough. I'm in vape heaven right now:D:vapor::D

Has anyone found USP grade sterile rayon? I've found some surgical pads and sponges. Also ob/gyn swabs.

Hard to find 100% rayon. Many are rayon/poly blend or poly layers sanwiching rayon in the middle.

Also, all are bleached but haven't determined what the bleaching process is. I'm looking/hoping for bleached with hydrogen peroxide.

Finally, some, but not all, are coated with different agents to aid in wound care.

Anyway, so far I can't find anything affordable.

I'm looking because there are rayon products that are used inside the body or topically on open wounds so it may quell the naysayers. To find an affordable and pure product is the challenge.

its not as hard as you might think.....i did a couple of kf's with tencel before sally's.. what i did was before the chimney goes on,
you wet the wick good and paste it to the walls even with the deck, then after the chimney tube goes on, look down into it and reposition whatever wick tail got moved from putting on the tube.....its not that bad and youll like the vape!!

Built my FIRST EVER Vcore coil last night and put it into the eXpromizer. Re-wicked the eXpromizer on Sunday with CC, and last night around midnight, the CC was still clean! I've put probably 30ml of unflavoured 90%VG juice through it since Sunday. It was working fine and tasting fine, curiosity got the better of me, and I also wanted to try a vcore.

So being my first vertical coil, I had no idea what I was doing. I took a piece of CC and wrapped it pretty tight around the coil twice. Then took a small piece and layed it over the top leg of the wire. Screwed on the chimney cap and it's pretty well full of CC in there. Buttoned it all up and it's working awesome! The density of the vapour is even better now! WOW! It just keeps getting better!

Cool man, glad you like it. :)

Yesterday, I happened past a Sally's in my travels and couldn't resist.

Walked and the cutie immediately asked me, "Can I help you find something?"

"Yes, please, I'm looking for some beauty coil, it's called 'CelluCotton', but I need the stuff that's rayon, not cotton."

So she asks me (in the standard SW VA drawl): "Are you fixin' to bleach some grout?"

"Huh?"

She then proceeded to explain that people occasionally come in looking for the rayon (not cotton!) beauty coil to soak in Clorox and then apply to dirty grout lines for a while. Apparently the rayon tolerates the Clorox better than cotton. OK, learn something new every day. But I disabused her of the notion that I have dirty grout and explained that I was going to try using it as wicking for my electronic cigarette and showed her my dibi OliveR.

In any case, the 500' 44060 box was the smaller of the two boxes of rayon CelluCotton they had. $10.95 plus tax. Let me add some additional perspective on the size of that box:

Can you say, "Lifetime supply"?

Anyway, I re-wicked the Cyclone with it last night. In order to limit the number of variables, I did not recoil it; I only dry-burned and damp-mopped the existing 26 gauge, 5/64" ~0.75 ohm contact coil, same as I would if I was re-wicking with cotton. I used the same wick geometry that I would with cotton as well, which is rather different that what Supe does. I primed from the top using unflavored 65VG 12 mg juice in order to find out if I could taste the wick. I like my wicks a bit denser than most people seem to, and I'm used to tasting the cotton a bit with a fresh wick. There was definitely a taste to the rayon as well. I can't exactly describe it except to say it was different that cotton and not particularly pleasant, but it did go away after a bit, particularly after I started squonking in the Peachez N Cream that I have in the bottle.

Earlier today, I re-wicked the Kayfun you see in the picture above. Again, I so as not to change more than one thing at a time; I didn't re-coil it. It has a totally conventional horizontal 28 gauge 5/64" contact coil in it, about 1.3 ohms, and I usually run it between 10 and 11 watts with a blend of juice that's primarily Boba's, with a bit of unflavored WTA base and a bit of Halo Belgian Cocoa mixed in. This juice cruds up a cotton wick and coil rather quickly and I normally have to dry burn and re-wick after 3-4 refills. Again, I got the "off" taste at the beginning; but it went away about as quickly as the new cotton wick taste would.

I guess I'm going have to try less dense wicks the next time, but in the meanwhile: I love the way the rayon Cellucotton wicks, and I love the quantity/quality/texture of the vapor it produces. As for flavor, the "off" taste went away quickly enough, but my impression right now is that flavor seems a bit more muted than with the KGD cotton I was using previously. Might that also be due to having made the wick too dense?
